The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Santa Ana Lane is headed to The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick on October 17 with Coolmore selecting the eight-year-old gelding for their slot in the world’s richest race on turf.
Santa Ana Lane – currently $21 at TAB for The TAB Everest – has raced 41 times for 10 wins, four seconds and five thirds.
Santa Ana Lane was victorious at Group 1 level for the fifth time in last year’s T.J. Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick and among the runs since, there have been runner-up finishes to Yes Yes Yes in last year’s TAB Everest and Nature Strip in this year’s TAB T.J. Smith Stakes.
Santa Ana Lane is set to resume on Saturday at Flemington in the Gilgai Stakes over 1200 metres.
TAB’s representative for The Everest, Nature Strip, is currently the $3.50 favourite.
