An outright favourite for Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup has emerged with Anthony Van Dyck currently $8 at TAB.
The Caulfield Cup runner-up has not budged from $8 since the barriers were unveiled last night and the Aidan O’Brien-trained horse has received 14 percent of support from TAB customers to win the race that stops a nation.
Tiger Moth – stablemate of Anthony Van Dyck – is set to exit from barrier 23 and has eased from $8 to $8.50.
Sir Dragonet has drifted from $8 to $9 despite winning the Cox Plate and having Glen Boss aboard, who rode Makybe Diva to her three Melbourne Cup triumphs in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Surprise Baby finished fifth in last year’s Melbourne Cup won by Vow And Declare ($41 on Tuesday) and the Paul Preusker-trained gelding has not budged from $9.
Prince Of Arran – third in the 2018 Melbourne Cup and second in the 2019 Melbourne Cup – is presently $10 at TAB.
Caulfield Cup winner Verry Elleegant has tightened from $13 to $11 since the barrier draw while one-time favourite Russian Camelot is currently rated a $13 chance.
