Glen Boss continued his winning ways with victory aboard Paddy O’Reilly in Friday’s $170,000 Albury Gold Cup.
Paddy O’Reilly sat on the speed in the 2000m country feature and held off the challenge of Extra Zero and Speed Gifted in the straight to win.
A host of big-name riders were at Albury to ride in the Cup with Boss, Corey Brown and Hugh Bowman filling the placings.
Paddy O’Reilly ($8.50) sat outside the leader Barlagarney during the run with Boss hitting the front at the top of the straight.
Group One winner Speed Gifted ($16) came after Paddy O’Reilly and so did favourite Extra Zero ($4.40) but the Robert Smerdon-trained runner did enough in the run to the line to win by half a length.
Boss was the star of the show at Rosehill last Saturday winning four races including the Group One Coolmore Classic and Ranvet Stakes double.
