Alligator Blood bounced back to winning ways in a big way at Flemington on Saturday, leading throughout to win Champions Mile (1600m) and his second major of the Spring.

1. Alligator Bloood: He’s a very hard horse to get past when leading and left alone, and that’s what eventuated. Got left alone, had control and was much too good for them under a peach from T Clark.
Rating: 9/10
2. Tuvalu: Had the beaut sit behind the first two and tried his guts out to get Alligator Blood, but just couldn’t quite there. But now he’s confirmed he’s not a handicapper. He can measure up at WFA.

3. Mr Brightside: Sat outside Alligator Blood in the run. Just couldn’t dash when Clark pushed the button but he stuck on as well as ever and game in defeat to hold on for third. Great effort.

4. Aegon: He’s flying this horse. Got back in the run before peeling wider and he finished off with real purpose late to finish fourth, confirming the last start win at Caulfield was no fluke.
Rating: 8/10
5. My Oberon: On the turn, he looked the winner when presented by Allen. But the horse just couldn’t quite finish it off when he needed to and whacked away late without really threatening.
Rating: 5/10
6. Cascadian: The wide gate sealed his fate, dragged back to last and forced widest, but he closed off with real purpose. If he heads to WA for the Northerly, he’ll win. He is flying.
Rating: 5.5/10
7. Private Eye: He was terrible. Just got too keen in the run and that out pay to him because it ensured he had nothing left for the finale. Been a fab prep but that was an end of prep run.
Rating: 3/10
8. Sinawann: Outclassed on paper and ran accordingly. He needs to find a Group ll/lll race to try and get confidence.
Rarting: 2/10
9. Dalasan: Why they keep persisting running him in the big races I do not know. He’s not up to this level. Madness they keep trying to think he’s a proper Group l horse when he’s not.
Rating: 1/10
10. Kolding: Given he nearly fell after the gates opened, he actually did a pretty good job to find the line like he did. I still don’t think he’s racing in any decent form, but this run had merit.
Rating: 2/10
11. Kiss Sum: Poorly placed, poor ride, just a total forgive and forget. He’s being aimed at The Gong I think. Give him another chance there.
