As we near the big day at the Gold Coast, Magic Millions have another juvenile feature taking place this weekend, the Magic Millions Victorian 2YO Classic – an 1100m dash which takes place on The Heath track at Caulfield on Saturday. We took a peek at the backgrounds of the 11 runners.

Admire Mars – Cadieux (I Am Invincible)
From the second local crop of Admire Mars who ended his juvenile season unbeaten as Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt, this $100,000 Gold Coast colt was bred by Waltrin Pty Ltd.
He is the first foal for an unraced daughter of the stakes-placed Snitzel mare Moreau who was in the placings at her only start at two.
Dam of the three-time winner Cheval Chic, Moreau is a full sister to the dam of the Memsie Stakes winner Pinstriped from the family of Indian Horse Of The Year Zuccarelli.
2. Gold Czech
Prague – Rocky Mountain Gal (Delzao)
The race’s second least expensive purchase, secured for $60,000 from Book 2 at the Gold Coast, he was bred by SJE Family Trust.
Hailing from the second crop of his sire Prague who was a dual Group 3 winner at two, he is the second live foal for his dam who raced on 58 occasions, winning five races with a further 12 placings.
She raced five times at two, winning once, and her half-sister Round Mountain Gem was also durable, winning nine races with 11 placings from 81 starts.
3. Guest House
Home Affairs – Flamboyant Lass (Stratum)
A $270,000 Gold Coast purchase bred by Love Racing, Henderson Racing And Breeding, ATF Henderson Racing And Breeding and G1G Racing & Breeding, he is from the first crop of dual Group 1 winner Home Affairs.
A descendant of the influential matriarch Woodbine line-bred to speed influences Canny Lad, Danehill and Lunchtime, he is out of Flamboyant Lass, a Group 2-placed Randwick winner at two.
Four of her first five foals are winners including two-time two-year-old Circuit Seven, who went on to earn black type in Hong Kong.
Also from this family are the Group winners Tempest Morn, Pasikatera, Good Standing and Tempt Me Not.
4. Invincible Son
Farnan – Invincible Diva (I Am Invincible)
Bred by Kia Ora Stud and Tony Fung Investments and sold for $120,000 at the Gold Coast, he is from the second crop of Golden Slipper winner Farnan.
He is the second foal for an imported mare who won at two in Ireland. Her half-brother Painted Cliffs was a Group 2 winner, while her dam’s Group 1-winning half-brother Excellent Art was a Listed winner.
A descendant of Kentucky Oaks winner Two Bob from the same family as multiple Group 1 winner Chief’s Crown.
5. Ko Phangan
Ole Kirk – Singing Sand (Poet’s Voice)
By dual Group 1 winner Ole Kirk, this A List Stud-bred colt passed through the sales ring twice, selling for $75,000 as a weanling and $260,000 as a yearling.
He is the third foal for a Warwick Farm-winning half-sister to Listed winner Zubbaya.
Singing Sand’s dam is bred on the same Green Desert/Nijinsky cross as Ole Kirk’s dam Naturale.
6. Princely Edition
Prince Fawaz – Idyllic Mood (High Chaparral)
The race’s cheapest yearling purchase at $18,000, he is from the second crop of Prince Fawaz, winner of the Group 1 J.J. Atkins Stakes.
He is the fourth live foal for Idyllic Mood, whose first two runners are both provincial winners.
His pedigree combines the 3/4 brothers Perugino, Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev.
7. Quarters
Bivouac – Pimm’s Party (Street Boss)
A $170,000 Adelaide yearling, he hails from the second crop of triple Group 1 winner Bivouac.
Quarters is the first foal for Group 3-placed Morphettville winner Pimm’s Party.
Also from this family are the Group 1 winner Run Fox Run and 1000 Guineas heroine Serious Speed.
8. Unit Five
Supido – En Aval (Toorak Toff)
An $80,000 Gold Coast purchase, this colt is the second foal for four-time winner En Aval.
This family has produced Golden Slipper winners Rory’s Jester and Ha Ha.
9. Kiss Me In Paris
Capitalist – Fromparis Withlove (Smart Missile)
A $42,500 weanling resold for $80,000, this filly is by Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.
Her pedigree brings together relations Try My Best and Umatilla for a 7 x 6 cross of Best In Show.
10. Oman
Capitalist – Manaya (Hinchinbrook)
The first foal for eight-time winner Manaya, a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Hot Danish.
Bred by Glenlogan Park, Oman carries three strains of Danehill.
11. Sayalero
King’s Legacy – Miss Venezuela (Starspangledbanner)
This $425,000 Gold Coast graduate is the most expensive purchase in the race.
She is closely related to dual Group 1 winner In Secret and is line-bred to Danehill and Rory’s Jester.
