Yesterday we saw top US-based rider Irad Ortiz completely flatten another horse by not looking to his left as he crossed from a wide gate.
That horse threw the rider such was the impact of the poor riding.
Well, you be the judge on this new incident.
Today at Aquaduct in New York, Ortiz was in the steward’s room again.
This time, while on the horse in green silks he let his mount under heavy riding shift in 5 horses over the final 200m.
He won the race by a nose.
The horse on the fence in the blue silks was moved in two horses over the last 200m, because of Ortiz’ shift, his momentum being effected, and racing room last 50m was restricted.
Should Ortiz have lost the race?
Was the inside horse hampered enough to have the result over turned?
After deliberation, the NYRA Stewards made the decision that Ortiz was allowed to keep the race.
What are your thoughts?
