Inaugural All Star Mile winner Mystic Journey has been beaten as the short priced $1.09 favourite in the Ladbrokes Stakes at Launceston.
Mystic Journey was beginning her campaign at Launceston over 1200m on Wednesday night as she aims towards this years edition of the $5m All Star Mile but it proved to be a less than ideal start as she was beaten by lesser know Blaze Forth.
The Group One winner jumped at Winx Odds ($1.09) with Sportsbet but she was not able to give her thrill seeking backers the result they thought as she wen’t down by over a length on the line.
The loss will most likely mean her trainer Adam Trinder will have to go back to the drawing board with the All Star Mile being a vote in system so her loss tonight will see her drop down voters lists.
The star Tasmanian mare was once an early market favourite for a Cox Plate and had been likened to Winx by some pundits although she arguably hasn’t lived up to her three-year-old hyper which saw her win six in a row including the G1 Australian Guineas and the inaugural (2019) All Star Mile at Flemington.
Mystic Journey is likely to have her next run in the Thomas Lyons Stakes at Hobart on February 7 over 1400 metres.
After that if she wasnβt high up in the voting he said he would take her to the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on February 24 but if she was she would run in the Vamos Stakes at Launceston on February 24.
Mystic Journey returned to form last spring with a win in theΒ Stocks StakesΒ at The Valley and then an unlucky seventh in theΒ Empire Rose Stakes.
Trinder is keen to get her toΒ The All-Star MileΒ as she races well at The Valley circuit.
