Racing Victoria says it is working with Wagering Service Providers to introduce a standardised deduction amount for horses that are scratched.
Aaron Morrison said that a standardised deduction amount was one of a number of issues the body was working with boomakers on.
“We are really keen to take a leadership role on deductions. It’s frustrating as a punter,” RV’s CFO/CCO Aaron Morrison said.
“We have already done some work. We have already started consulting with wagering operators, and I think they’re supportive of a standardised system.
Morrison said Racing Victoria was also in discussion with bookmakers about the minimum bet laws with the increase in amounts being the biggest decision.
“Some things that we had to put on hold, we are keen to look at the new year,” Morrison said.
“It’s obviously got to be balanced and fair to both bookies and punters. But there’s opportunities to have a look at, for example, whether there could be limits applied before 9am on the morning of the race.”
