Golden Slipper winner Vancouver has signalled his readiness for the spring with a barrier trial win over older horses at Randwick.
Vancouver rallied to beat Frank Packer Plate winner Hi World over 840 metres on Friday.
As well as Vancouver, the heat featured Group One winners Cosmic Endeavour, First Seal, Kirramosa and Kermodec.
Trainer Gai Waterhouse said first-up options for Vancouver are the San Domencio Stakes on August 15 or the Run To The Rose two weeks later.
The valuable colt is the favourite for Sydney’s first Group One race of the season, the Golden Rose on September 12.
His other spring targets include the Caulfield Guineas and possibly the Cox Plate.
Vancouver has not raced since the Golden Slipper after which Coolmore Stud bought a controlling interest in the colt.
Other trial winners on Friday included Vancouver’s stablemate Amanpour, winner of the Queen Of The Turf Stakes and veteran Group One winning sprinter Temple Of Boom.
