Dual Group One winner Trust In A Gust will miss the spring to undergo surgery to have a bone chip removed.
Trainer Darren Weir ordered tests on the five-year-old after his disappointing seventh in the Aurie’s Star Handicap earlier this month.
“Sadly injury has sidelined Trust In A Gust for the spring, with revised plan to re-launch for autumn 2016,” Weir tweeted.
Trust In A Gust has won 10 of his 19 starts including the Group One double of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and Toorak Handicap last spring.
His regular jockey Brad Rawiller is also on the injured list with a torn abductor muscle after a mounting yard incident at Bendigo on Sunday.
Rawiller said he expected to be out for up to three weeks.
