Back Me: 2 Wolf Cry (Best Odds: $2.40) looks the way to go here in the opener. This Team Snowden colt resumes after an Autumn prep, which was aimed towards the Slipper but he didn’t earn enough prizemoney to get a spot. He has been given a good break, and has been brought up to fitness with a couple of barrier trials. Should get the gun run from the gate and his lone wet track run resulted in a third to Exosphere.
Big Danger: 14 Wutai Mountain (Best Odds: $9.00) is now with Chris Waller after formerly being John Sargent. This filly resumed on Wyong Magic Millions Day when running a close up second to Silver Spun, beaten just under a length. Draws immediately outside Wolf Cry, so they won’t be far off each other, and the stable/jockey/owners have had good success in recent times.
Roughie: 12 Sagatona (Best Odds: $14.00) hasn’t raced in nearly 12 months. This mare ran in this race last year and ran on strongly behind Elle Lou before running poorly at her next two starts. Wasn’t asked to do much in a recent trial at Deagon, and given she is first up in a $200,000+ race, expect her to be wound up.

Race Two (13:15) : Sky Racing Magic Millions Country Cup 1200m:
Back Me: 13 Star Wars (Best Odds: $7.00) resumed at Hawkesbury on December 5 and produced a lovely turn of foot from the back to win quite impressively. Five weeks between runs is the query, but he draws a soft gate with Avdulla riding and the horse handles all conditions. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: 15 Three Sheets (Best Odds: $4.20) is a Cessnock visitor for Jeremy Sylvester and Robert Thompson who ran at Doomben on New Years Day and stuck to the task qutie well when running second to Pirandello. Thompson is back on her now, draws a nice gate and she’ll appreciate the rise to 1200m.
Roughie: 3 Equissential (Best Odds: $71.00) is a greybeard who still maintains a nice amount of enthusiasm for racing, as we saw first up at Toowoomba when making up solid ground late to run sixth to Real Favulous. He gets a 2kg weight pull on that horse and has more upside, so he should turn the tables, senior rider back on now and he will be strong late.

Race Three (13:50) : Magic Millions QTIS Plate 1300m:
Back Me: How can you tip against 1 Buffering (Best Odds: $1.22). In any other era, he’d be regarded as one of the all time great sprinters. IMO, he is comfortably in the top five sprinters Australia has produced given he has won some of the best sprint races Australia has to offer. Bias helped him win the Winterbottom last start, but he still had to do the job and he did it in grand style. Just looks the winner here.
Big Danger: 11 Spur Le Jouer (Best Odds: $31.00) is on the back up from last Saturday on his home track at the Sunny Coast when making up a stack of ground to run to fifth to in form mare Glorious Red. He won’t be winning this, but he can work home for a place at good odds.
Roughie: 8 Mister Booze (Best Odds: $41.00) ran over 1200m here on Boxing Day when running midfield behind Double Banger. I think back up in trip will suit him, and while he won’t be winning, he could be one to include for exotics.

Race Four (14:25) : Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap 1300m:
Back Me: Really keen to see how 8 Miss Cover Girl (Best Odds: $14.00) shapes up here. She ran over 1200m here on Boxing Day and was very unlucky I thought when fourth to Tina Melina after settling near last in the run where she normally sits closer. Wet track suits and she loves racing here, plus she is on the minimum.
Big Danger: 16 I Am Zelady (Best Odds: $6.50) ran over 1350m at Rosehill on December 19 when she looked to do it a touch too hard in front and punctured late to run third to Fitou. Start prior she beat home Slots, who went on to win a Stakes race. Gets weight relief, which helps her, and the give in the track suits her perfectly.
Roughie: 11 Sino Eagle (Best Odds: $10.00) tried her heart out on Boxing Day over 1400m at Caulfield but had to settle for a close up third to in form mare Danestroem. On her best form, she’d go close here, and her two runs this time in have been more than satisfactory.

Race Five (15:00) : Crown Resorts Magic Millions Trophy 1800m:
Back Me: Great edition of this race. Leaning towards 4 Worthy Cause (Best Odds: $5.50). He comes through the Bernborough (1615m) when running a game third to impressive winner Centre Pivot. He gets a 2.5kg weight pull on that horse and can handle give in the track unlike Centre Pivot. Confident he can turn the tables and he is a Stakes winner at the track/distance.
Big Danger: 2 Tinto (Best Odds: $4.60) is the clear class runner and she was given a peach by Damien Browne to bounce back to winning form with a top win at this track/distance on Boxing Day. She tends to save her best for this track, and given her record, she doesn’t look badly treated at the weights.
Roughie: 12 Feltre (Best Odds: $41.00) is on the back up from last Saturday where he raced over the mile at the Sunny Coast where he was a bit unlucky, particularly early on in the straight when appearing to be bolting and not getting clear at the right time. Untried beyond 1800m, but I think he’ll get it and he loves getting his feet wet.

Race Six (15:35) : Jewel Magic Millions Cup 1400m:
Back Me: Looks a lovely race for 5 Bachman (Best Odds: $5.50). The worst kind of gear chance has brought out the best in this Gerald Ryan trained galloper, who is two from two this time, the latest coming in the Goldmarket (1300m) here when producing a lovely turn of foot to win impressively. Third up at 1400m is perfect, and he still appears to have some upside left.
Big Danger: 16 Testashadow (Best Odds: $18.00) trialled well on his home track at Warwick Farm prior to running at Randwick on Boxing Day when toughing it out strongly on speed for a gritty and determined win. He ran second in the Guineas last year, and while there is more depth here, he gets weight relief and should only improve off that Randwick win.
Roughie: 12 Baligari (Best Odds: $18.00) comes through the Goldmarket also where he was wide most of the way yet stuck on well when fifth to Bachman, beaten 2.4L. His three runs this time in have been great and the stable should always be respected when sending horses to Queensland because they rarely leave empty handed.

Race Seven (16:15) : Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 1400m:
Back Me: If you backed 16 Egyptian Symbol (Best Odds: $4.40) in the Vo Rogue (1300m), it was hard to watch. She was ridden to perfection from the wide gate by Schofield, and he deserved better luck but but couldn’t get it and got held up at a vital stage before flashing late near the inside. If she gets normal luck here, she’ll take a power of beating. Taking on Mahuta because of the gate, he is first up and Victorians have a horrible record here.
Big Danger: 13 Flamboyant Lass (Best Odds: $13.00) trialled sensationally prior to resuming at Wyong where she was an alarming drifter in betting and that market fluc was spot on as she dropped out to finish five lengths behind Flippant. Gai has a wonderful record on this day, and the stable/jockey/owners combined to win this race with Sweet Idea a couple of years back.
Roughie: I am not going to drop off 12 Single Gaze (Best Odds: $34.00). Forget she went around in the Vo Rogue given she got too far back and was wide from the horror draw. Draws much better here, Kathy O’Hara goes back on, and the filly is bred to swim, so if the track has some give in it, she will definitely improve and I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t look the winner at some stage because she does have form around some classy types.

Race Eight (16:55) : Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic 1200m:
Back Me: The last four winners of this race have drawn gate three or better, but putting that aside, I don’t think we have seen a horse look so dominant pre race than what we face here with 1 Capitalist (Best Odds: $1.60). His win in the Wyong Magic Millions was effortless and the time was about 0.7 seconds quicker than the other 1100m race on the same program. It didsn’t matter what gate he drew, but now with gate two…he just looks lengths better than these.
Big Danger: The main lead up was the B.J. McLachlan (1200m) here and the best run out of that race was clearly 14 Slumber Party (Best Odds: $14.00), who was resuming and led, running the first 600m in sub 34, so for her to kick on for second was a remarkable effort. Provided she has taken no harm from that and improves, she looks the lone threat for mine. She’s the one I want to follow from that form reference.
Roughie: 8 Punishing (Best Odds: $101.00) comes through that race mentioned above and he simply got run off his legs, but his last 250m was pretty good. The forecast for the week is rain, and if that eventuates, he is by one of the best wet track sires in Australia and he will be strong at the end of 1200m. Must for exotics for those reasons, as well as the trainer always performing well with his youngsters in this race.

Race Nine (17:40) : Myer Magic Millions Sprint 1100m:
Back Me: Going to go for some value in the shape of 9 Husson Eagle (Best Odds: $4.40). He ran over 1000m at Randwick last time out and he looked to be bolting at the top of the straight, but once let down, his wheels started spinning and he plugged on for third to Rule The River, who will probably win the Takeover Target. The track is a worry in terms of the rain, but on form, he will take some beating.
Big Danger: 5 Wild Rain (Best Odds: $4.40) has been freshened up since winning impressively in the Doveton (1000m) at Ladbrokes Park, sitting on speed most of the way and was quite dominant on the line. Had a jump out at Flemington before Christmas and looked outstanding there. She should be right on top of the speed again and prove hard to hold out.
Roughie: 1 Temple Of Boom (Best Odds: $16.00) hasn’t raced since finishing worse than midfield to stablemate Fontelina in the Lough Neagh (1350m). He did some work to lead, and I think at his old age, a wet track doesn’t suit him. This race is very thin due to Buffering, so Temple Of Boom gets a great opportunity to find some form.
