9/7/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Caulfield, Monash Stakes day

9 Cotel (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) is a Charge Forward filly for Peter Moody on debut. She won a June 22 jumpout on the Pakenham Synthetic where she looked to move well on speed and won narrowly, but with plenty in hand. Draws to get a soft run and given the stable, she commands respect.

4 Jukebox Flyer (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) creates interest for start one. Claire Lever trained filly that hasn’t raced since a debut win back in February over 900m at Newcastle when knuckling down strongly to win and win well in solid time. Looked to trial up nicely at Hawkesbury and I don’t think this is a strong 2YO race.

5 Pinnace (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) looks a filly with talent for James Cummings, certainly enough talent to win a race like this. Debuted with a sharp win over 900m at Newcastle before coming to this track/distance two weeks ago and worked to the line well from the back behind Thron Bone, who won again last Saturday, so the form reads well. Hopefully can settle closer in the run.

15 Daralina Belle (Bet Now: $4.20 TOP ODDS) looks a relatively safe option for Matty Smith. Close up third two back at Caulfield behind Selburose before going to Warwick Farm when working to the line strongly when third to Dehorned Unicorn. Off her Selburose run, she’ll take beating here.

4 Gold Spark (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) is a Nick Ryan trained gelding that resumes. Son of Akeed Mofeed that is first up, having not raced since April 2 at Bendigo on Golden Mile Day when down the track behind Colesridge. Hasn’t raced too bad on the fresh side and has trialled up well leading in, so he commands respect.

Back up to 1100m I do like for 6 Whipcracker Way (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS). This guy ran in the Ashford Street race from a few weeks back at Sandown and worked to the line okay without really threatening. He hasn’t won in a little while but despite that is racing well, so not dismissing him just yet.

10 Jenniferenti (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS) has the Maher/Eustace polish and is bred to eat up 2000m. Last start saw her break the maiden tag, which came during the Swan Hill Carnival over the mile, beating Farhh Flung, who bolted up on Thursday at Cranbourne, so the form reads well and up to 2000m suits.

2 Bigolino (Bet Now: $4.20 TOP ODDS) is a progressive three year old for Patrick Payne that is several weeks between runs since a slogging win at Sandown on quite testing ground, but it sums up the form of the stable. Once they find form, they hold it. He has to command respect in a race like this.

1 Teewaters (Bet Now: $14.00 TOP ODDS) has these on toast re class if he’s ready to go and in form. Just not 100% sure if he is. Resumes for Archie Alexander, having not raced since the Chairmans at Morphettville when down the track behind Jungle Magnate. Given a break, looked sharp in a jumpout win on the Ballarat Synthetic…if he brings his best, he wins. Just watch the market.

I am going to include 2 Strawberry Rock (Bet Now: $41.00 TOP ODDS) at a big price. Former UK stayer that had trialled up okay prior to his Australian debut over 1500m at Rosehill where he didn’t get much luck from the wide gate and couldn’t get into the race. 2400m is when he came into his own back home, so he might want one more, but Maher/Eustace polish, upside…can see him running a beauty at odds.

12 Impulsar (Bet Now: $3.30 TOP ODDS) is a promising animal for the Maher/Eustace camp. Australian debut came at Sandown where he was specked at odds and the bets were landed with a strong effort late to win, wearing them down and looking like a stayer, so a rise to 2000m is ideal and has good upside to come.

10 Dick Whittington (Bet Now: $14.00 TOP ODDS) is a working progress and suited up in trip. He comes through the Born A King race from a few weeks back and did make up good ground from the back, but was on the inside, which was the spot to be, so flattered somewhat? Not sure, but the run prior at Flemington was solid so he commands respect.

2 Inundation… (Bet Now: $1.40) just how good is he? 3/3 this time in and his win here two weeks ago was absolutely electric, sitting on a good speed before being clicked up and away he went, winning by a space with something in reserve. If he can stretch the brilliance to 1100m, they’re cooking with gas.

Back to 1100m I like for 1 Jigsaw (Bet Now: $10.00). They tried him out at 1300m last start at Sandown where that looked a tough ask, and when a bog track was added, he was zero chance and ran accordingly behind Umgawa. Back to 1100m on firmer footing, back to his own age, he’ll run an improved race.

5 Kooled (Bet Now: $16.00) likes getting his feet wet so that is his saving grace. He ran in the Inundation race from two weeks back at Caulfield where he just foun them a bit sharp. Back up in trip from him, and down in the weights, I think he’s one to include for wider multiples.

7 Sigh (Bet Now: $4.00) is a progressive filly for Peter Moody that is unbeaten in a two start career, resuming with an electric win three weeks ago at Murray Bridge when charging late from off the speed to nab Keep Reading near the peg. Both wins have come at 1000m and she is racing like she will eat up further. Hard to beat.

4 Commands The Field (Bet Now: $9.00) comes here with fresh legs and I think it suits her. Over a month between runs since racing down the straight at Flemington where she sat back in the run and worked to the line quite strongly when second to No Nay Ever. I think 1100m is ideal and she’ll be strong at the end.

3 No Way Ever (Bet Now: $8.50) seems more effective over the short course so I like her at 1100m. Ran down the straight at Flemington a few weeks ago and stuck to the task pretty well in defeat behind a star in Passive Aggressive, who won the Creswick next start, so the form has been ticked off and I do think back to this level is a big tick.

12 Somerset Maugham (Bet Now: $5.00) is a hard horse to catch but I think a truly run 1700m is right up his alley. He ran over the mile at Morphettville last time out where he got a fair way back in the run but I really liked the way he finished his race off behind an in form Noname Lane. Gets a significant weight pull on that horse here and the extra 100m helps him.

3 Not Usual Glorious (Bet Now: $6.50) is better suited over a tad further, but he has a good racing style and is in nicely at the weights after the claim. He bolted up to win the Casterton Cup last time, leading throughout in a dominant display. That was 2000m. Now back to 1700m, but he’ll run a bold race.

6 Noname Lane (Bet Now: $8.50) deserves a crack in Melbourne for a very astute stable in Will Clarken, who rarely misfires when he brings one to Melbourne. This guy has won two on the bounce, the latest being that race mentioned above where he was there to be beaten but he found plenty under pressure to score. He should get a dream sit behind a good speed and prove hard to beat.

4 Oxley Road (Bet Now: $2.80) has the runs on the board and has class, so I’m in his corner. Peter Moody trained four year old that resumes, his last run being the Newmarket when outclassed behind Roch N Horse. I reckon 1100m is his sweet spot, maybe even 1000m. Liked a recent jumpout win and with a class edge, I’m with him.

5 Ashford Street (Bet Now: $6.50) has to stretch his brilliance to 1100m, but gee he’s a beauty. Last couple of starts have seen him bolt up at 1000m, the latest on testing ground at Sandown. If this was 1000m, he’d be a moral. Just unknown at 1100m, but he’s tough and very genuine.

1 Aysar (Bet Now: $12.00) is a quality animal for Team Hayes that comes here off a break, his last run being the Goodwood at Morphettville when failing to fire behind Lombardo after a good fresh effort in the McKay. Trial and jumpout since has been strong and clearly his best is good enough.

15 He’s Our Bonneval (Bet Now: $3.80) is a Stakes class horse and IMO a Stakes winner in waiting. Gee he looks a nice horse for the Busuttin/Young camp. Very rare to see this stable and imports click, but this horse has looked the part, firstly off jumpouts before a dominant win over 1400m here a fortnight back. I think he has a stack more improvement to come, so no reason why he can’t win again.

5 Tavidance (Bet Now: $10.00) has good upside to come for the Price/Kent camp and the rise to the mile is ideal. Resumed over 1400m at Flemington a few weeks back where he tracked up sweetly in transit and looked the winner when presented but was outgunned late by Biometric. Fitter, I think he appeals.

3 Biometric (Bet Now: $26.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Hayes since a strong win over 1400m at Flemington where he was given a peach by Mick Dee and in a driving go, he finished best, I think due to hard race fitness whereas the runner up Tavidance was fresh. Not sure he’s got the upside, but only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 4 Oxley Road

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 2 Strawberry Rock
