2 Power Of The Brave… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) beware the unbeaten colt. He debuted on the Beaumont track at Newcastle and gee it was a win. He gave them a start and a beating, rounding them up with purpose to win quite impressively and ran decent time, clocking the best late splits of the meeting. That was 1150m and for mine, he’ll eat up 1350m, and he could be an absolute jet.

1 Transatlantic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a progressive colt for Tony Gollan that appeals. Both career outings have come here, catching the eye on debut over 1200m before going to 1350m where he was able to settle closer in the run and while it probably took something away from his finale, he was still too good for them. Heading in the right direction this guy. Hard to beat.

6 Showdra (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a filly heading in the right direction for Lee Freedman. There was a bit of quality about her debut win at the Sunshine Coast, giving them a start and a beating, sitting back and launching over the top for a big win, clocking some of the better late splits of the meeting. Back to 1350m is a negative given she is looking for further, but she has the talent.

2 Eaglemont (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. His opening two runs for the prep were super, notably the second run when runner up to Hype. He then went to Ipswich three weeks back and was plain to the eye, but not sure Ipswich suited him and just couldn’t get involved. Bigger track and off prior efforts, he’s good enough to take this out.

9 Kinetic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout here for Tony Gollan. She put together a couple of sharp wins on the bounce before being far from disgraced at Eagle Farm behind Yasuke before going to Ipswich three weeks ago where she was near the speed throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there when seventh to Mississippi Prince. If she brings her form from when winning, she’ll go close.

1 Akihiro (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won’t know himself in a race like this. Gary Portelli trains this four year old, who is third up and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran two weeks back at Randwick over 1400m where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished the race off. Love him up to the mile and with a more positive ride, he can take this out.

8 Colleagues (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. His last couple of runs have come over 1800m at the Sunny Coast, the last start seeing him romp up, aided by a peach from KWT, getting the suck run behind the speed before angling into clear air and he made an absolute mess of them. Off that, 2000m is fine and strikes a very thin Saturday metro race IMO.

5 Flensburg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited back in trip IMO. Three weeks between runs since contesting the Stayers Final at Ipswich over 2500m where he tried his guts out but I just think the 2500m was a bridge too far when third to surprise winner Go Millo. Back to 2000m should be fine for him, he’s in form and only has to hold that to be around the mark here.

9 Carbonetti (Bet Now:  $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of winning records but he is an honest animal for Chris Waller that should be around the mark. He hasn’t raced since May 31 over this track/distance when near the speed and battled away pretty well in defeat behind Fawkner Park, who has since won twice in Sydney, so the form reads super. Leading contender.

1 Self Indulgent (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat against these. She ran three weeks ago in the Gai Waterhouse at Ipswich where she was on speed throughout and she tried her guts out to get the job done but at that level, it was just a bridge too far when fourth to Chassis, beaten just over a length. She loves the Doomben 1200m, lands on speed and provided there is petrol left in the tank, she’ll take running down.

10 Typhoon Taavi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate dropping back to 78 grade. She has been thrown in the deep end her past two, taking on Stakes grade. Latest run was three weeks ago in the Gai Waterhouse at Ipswich where she was back off the speed, against her pattern, and just couldn’t get involved behind Chassis. Back to this level, lands on speed, she’ll take running down.

3 Canadian Dancer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality mare for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that is first up. She only had one run when last in work, which came over this track/distance in April when back in the run and worked home with purpose when third to Self Indulgent. She is a mare better suited over slightly further but does sprint well fresh and if she can settle closer, she’ll be dangerous late.

2 Count Da Beans… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) he is getting close to D-Day surely? He was potentially looking towards a Stradbroke berth but the early part of his prep was poor so they freshened him up and he ran three weeks ago at Ipswich where I thought he was pretty plain from the back, failing to fire a shot behind Chairman. Back to this level, fitter, has the class/quality…last chance territory.

1 Sailor’s Secret (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a promising three year old for Kelly Schweida that should take beating against this lot. Market wanted him with confidence when racing three weeks ago at Ipswich and after a sweet sit just off the speed, Thompson angled him into clear air on the turn to build the revs and away he went, drawing clear to win by a space. He’ll be hard to beat once again.

9 Porky (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Tony Gollan trained gelding that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since Feb 18 at Eagle where he was up a while and just looked a tired horse, finishing down the track behind The Vowels, who was flying at the time. 1350m fresh tells me there is some level of intent so I think watch the market and see what it does.

7 Blaze A Trail (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat for Maher/Eustace. You can easily make a case to say that he should have won the Eye Liner at Ipswich. Just got held up for a bit too long in the straight but eventually got out and launched late to just miss out on the win. He’ll love getting to a bigger track and fourth up from a break, he should just about be at peak fitness.

6 Arentee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing like he will eat up 1350m and back to this level, I think he’ll take beating. Far from disgraced two weeks ago in the Healy when back near last in the run but loved the way he found the line late without threatening behind Prince Of Boom, beaten just over three lengths. Yet to win beyond 1200m but 1350m should be ideal and back to this level, he’ll take beating.

4 Sir Warwick (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race here. Far from disgraced two back in the Eye Liner behind Lady Of Honour before going to Ipswich again where he was near the speed throughout from the inside gate but just couldn’t quite get there when close up in defeat behind Orbisyn. Getting away from Ipswich and onto the bigger track, he commands respect.

8 Sneaky Five (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win a race and I think she gets a golden opportunity here. She is three weeks between runs since contesting the Gai Waterhouse at Ipswich where she got a long way out of her ground and was never really a threat but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off behind Chassis. Drops a fair way in depth here IMO…little while between runs, but is racing well and strikes a winnable race.

2 Dragonstone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been pretty good in two runs for Joe Pride and is hard to beat. He is several weeks between runs since contesting the Bob Charley at Randwick where he got off the speed and found the line strongly when a narrow second to Spacewalk. Tick over trial last week at Canterbury was sharp, he’ll sit off a fast speed and be stronger than most late.

1 Simply Fly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is placed to advantage for the first time this prep so I think he can run a much improved race. All three runs this time in have come at Stakes level, the latest being two weeks back in the Healy at WFA where he found the class and conditions of the race not to his liking. Back to this level, he’s certainly good enough to take this out but I’d prefer for multiples.

8 Seleque (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me in an open race. Chris Waller trained mare that is five weeks between runs since contesting a 1600m race at Eagle Farm where she got back in the run and failed to make up any real headway when down the track behind Foxy Frida. In terms of her Queensland form, she saves her best for Doomben and the depth here looks a bit on the thin side.

9 Wairere Falls (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has teased to win races but he hasn’t been winning, so that is his downfall, but five weeks between runs and with a drag into the race, he can be quite effective. He ran over 1810m at Eagle Farm five weeks ago where he was in a decent spot just off the speed but just couldn’t quite get involved and was plain late when down the track behind Trevelyan. Fresh legs and back to the mile, I’m not penning him…yet.

4 Stardome (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is probably using this as a prep run for something later on, but he has the Waller polish. Had two runs in the early part of the Winter Carnival and was down the track both times in races not really suited to him. He might want one more and a further rise in trip, but he does have an element of class when right.

9 Release The Beans (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks like he has returned in pretty good order. Market said he was ready to rock and roll when resuming over 1200m at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and while he didn’t win, I thought he stuck to the task well enough in defeat from off the speed when beaten two lengths by Lasting Kiss. Love a rise in trip for him, but has more upside than most and I am respecting the market push from first up.

1 Kanazawa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with James Cummings, he now finds himself with the O’Dea/Hoysted camp and the stable are just about the best in Queensland when it comes to cast offs. His NSW form does read very well for a race like this with his last start seeing him placed behind Think About It, which is A1 form for this. Hopefully the market says he’s ready to go.

13 Schiller Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Jenny Graham at Port Macquarie, he now finds himself with Barry Lockwood and this stable is one of the best in the state when it comes to improving a tried horse. His last run came in the Gunnedah Lightning back on May 28 where he got back to near last in the run and charged late to be beaten just under three lengths. Not the best of racing patterns, but a definite market watch.

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 8 Seleque
