A strong nine event meeting has been set down for Doomben this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is out 5.5 metres for the entire circuit.

5 Ringer’s Reward (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Kevin Kemp that raced over 1200m last Saturday at Doomben and while she was never a threat, she did make up solid ground and was good in defeat behind a smart one, Oceans Of Energy. Like her on the back up and getting to 1350m, she can settle closer in the run and be strong at the end.

2 Himeji (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can be an improver. He debuted two weeks back at Eagle Farm over 1400m and was very raw and new to the caper, doing plenty wrong, but didn’t mind the way he stuck on in defeat behind all the way winner Bobby Shiraz. No horse of that quality here, I don’t think, and better for the debut run under the belt, he is in with a shout for sure.

3 Spicy Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the only other chance in the race. Peter Robl trains this colt, that debuted on the Kenso track where he was a big price but I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Libertad, who went on to win the Kindergarten last Saturday at Randwick. Fitter and up in trip, back miles in depth, he appeals.

3 Compass Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love the rise to 2040m for Tony Gollan. So You Think filly that should have won over the Eagle Farm mile two weeks ago but she threw it away in the straight, doing plenty wrong late and shifting out under pressure when a narrow third to all the way winner Binding. She’s bred to eat up more ground and off last run, she’ll appreciate it. Hard to beat.

2 Coppleson (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat. Chris Waller trained three year old that ran a fortnight back in the Tulloch Stakes where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat, I really liked the way he found the line late in the piece behind Tapildoodledo, clocking decent enough late splits. Back miles in grade/depth, he has to be given serious respect.

8 Silver Goddess (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Tony Gollan and should appreciate a rise to 2000m. Her opening two career outings, you can make a case she should have won both runs, but made amends at start three with a commanding performance over 1800m at the Sunny Coast. The way she relaxes and finds the line, 2000m is ideal and has good upside to come.

8 Flensburg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me. Tony Gollan trained gelding that has been good in two runs back from a break. Latest run was over 1800m at the Sunny Coast where they went at an absolute crawling tempo and given he was back in the run, he had zero chance of winning and was very good late in the piece when third to Early Thoughts. Has won up to 2400m so 2040m here is thin and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take beating.

9 Gambu (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a track/distance winner that has good upside to come and has the Waller polish. Just a run when resuming over this track/distance at the midweeks but despite beating one runner home, he was only beaten just over two lengths by He’s The Ultimate. Might want one more run but his form from last prep does read pretty well for a race of this quality or lack thereof.

1 Stuck With You (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is fourth up from a spell and should love the rise in trip. He has contested stronger races in all three runs this time in, the latest run being two weeks back over 1800m at Eagle Farm where he settled off the speed and failed to come on, finishing last behind the very much in form Santero. His 2000m+ record is very good and back to 78 grade, he appeals big time as a sharp improver.

Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 7 Sneak Preview (Bet Now:  $SP.00). David Vandyke trained gelding that has been good in two runs back from a spell, the latest being a fortnight back at Eagle Farm over 1400m where he got a fair way out of his ground and was never a winning threat, but didn’t mind the way he found the line late behind Indispensable. Good record at the mile and should just about be at peak fitness.

2 Red Wave (Bet Now:  $SP.00) did the right thing by us three weeks ago when winning and no reason why he can’t win again. Backed with confidence when racing at this track/distance where he lobbed into a beaut spot under Thompson, presented at the right time and he ended up being strong to the line when winning. He’s got room for improvement and will take beating with luck from the gate.

11 Applications (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Glenn Thornton since racing over this track/distance where he attempted to lead throughout but he went at a solid clip and tried his guts out but was no match late for the very much in form Red Wave. He was first up there, so the run had plenty of merit to it, and better for that under the belt, he’ll be around the mark I’m sure.

7 Moktaffy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take beating here for Chris Waller. He was a big price when resuming over 1350m here at the midweeks and I thought he was an eye catcher from the back, closing off with purpose when third to Valley Of Dreams. Good second up record and although he might want one more, that return was too good to ignore and with a stack of upside, he rates highly.

12 Sea Ripple (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was teasing to win races but she kept finding bad luck and copping bad rides, but that has all changed in recent times, with the mare winning two on the bounce, both wisn coming at this track/distance at the midweeks and each time she has been strong to the line in running. Now she’s found a purple patch, she can maintain it with a rise to Saturday company.

6 Inuwashi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can be a definite improver here. Formerly with Chris Waller, had his first run for Team Sears over 1350m at Ipswich where he got a fair way back in the run and was good to the line without threatening behind Third Time Round. Has run well at 2400m so you’d think he might want one more and a rise in trip, but off the return, he is a threat.

2 Chinny Boom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripping filly for Clinton Taylor that resumes. This girl won her opening five career outings in style before going to 1200m in the Mode Plate where she tried her guts out but just found the six furlongs a bridge too far when a narrow second to Stroll. Like her back to the short course and her trial win to get her ready for the return was electric. She’ll jump on the bunny and I think sustained speed will see her be too good.

4 Beast Mode (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, five weeks between runs for David Vandyke since racing in the Jewel Prelude where he was on speed and gave a really good sight but couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for a second to All That Pizzazz. Kept up to the mark with a 1200m trial at Deagon so he’s had the grounding to keep him up to the mark for this.

1 Exo Lady (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Desleigh Forster trained filly that resumes. Thus girl hasn’t raced since December 17 when placing in the Gold Edition at Eagle Farm behind End Assembly, sitting just off the speed and battling away well behind a promising animal. Resumes without a public trial but she is a bomb fresh horse, so watch the market.

15 Amore Veloce (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is unbeaten fresh and I think she can maintain that record here. She resumes for Rob Heathcoate, having not raced since October 29 at Eagle Farm when finishing last but did pull up with a poor post race recovery. Tends to race best early on in the prep and her trial win to get ready looked quite sharp, winning comfortably in solid time. Lands on speed, she’ll take beating.

11 Self Indulgent (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Tony Gollan trained mare that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since October 22 over this track/distance when on speed and fought hard but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to the then in form Extremist. Loves racing at Doomben, liked the way she moved in a recent trial and maps ideally from the gate.

9 Light Of Boom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite winning chance for Adam Campton. He’s been up a little while but is holding his form really well. Strong winner from off the speed two back at Ipswich before going to Eagle Farm where he had a suck run behind the speed and battled away pretty well in defeat, albeit he was never a threat to Kipsbay. He commands respect in a race like this.

1 Hilal (Bet Now:  $SP.00), I think, is back on track. Two runs for Tony Gollan, both over 1200m. He was very plain fresh behind Jetty but ran a much improved race two weeks ago at Eagle Farm, closing off well but couldn’t quite get there when second to The Big Goodbye. Like the rise in trip for him and third up from a spell, he’s hard fit, so for me, this is D-Day for him.

4 Last Chance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can be hit and miss but when he is on, he is a pretty solid horse at this level. That was the case three weeks ago in the Gold Jewel where he gave them a start and a beating, sitting off the speed before coming with a well timed run and launching late to finish over the top. Good track/distance record and once he finds winning form, he generally holds it.

10 Roman Aureus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a fab record at the Doomben 1350m and has to be always respected when he has that set up. He ran at it three weeks ago in the Gold Jewel and tried his guts out after getting the suck run from the inside gate but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow fourth to Last Chance. Has a good racing style, genuine and is rarely far away from the thick end of the prize. Leading chance.

5 Astero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat here. Matty Smith trained gelding that comes here off the back of a dominant win in a Midway at Rosehill two weeks ago where he got into a lovely spot under Zac Lloyd before being given clear air and he gapped them late for a dominant win. Stable have a good record when they come to Brisbane and he does find a winnable race.

12 Alburq (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Brian Smith trained gelding that resumes. This guy really came of age when last in work, establishing himself as a Saturday metro class horse with a few wins. Can sprint well fresh and despite no public trial to get ready, I’d watch the market with him because fresh at 1350m tells me there is some level of intent. Watch the market.

3 Rousseau (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have come back in outstanding order for Chris Waller. He is much better suited over further but he makes his Queensland debut and we know these decent Waller runners when they come to Queensland are very hard to beat and his recent trial on the Gold Coast Poly was a lovely piece of work, winning with plenty in hand. I think he’ll run a beauty fresh.
