Ten races will be run and won at Ascot this Saturday for Fairetha Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (14:54) Magic Millions Plate 1100m
Hard to get away from 1 All On Red (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), who is 2/2 to start his career, the latest win being two weeks ago when leading throughout and he just ran his rivals ragged in an impressive performance. He jumps, he runs, he kicks…he just looks the winner.
8 London Rose (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran second to All On Red from a fortnight back. She was on debut and got back off speed but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat, clocking good late splits. Not sure she turns the tables but runs well regardless.
9 Kute As Kan Be (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the sleeper I feel. She ran fourth to All On Red and was an eye catcher from off speed, getting held up at times GYG loved the way she finished her race off. If within range, she’s a threat.
Race 2. (15:34) Arthur Dobson 60Th Birthday (Rs1mw) 1600m
6 Hasani (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of a couple of promising three year olds stepping out here and I think he is the hard fit one that will be strongest late. Was a few weeks between runs when racing over 1200m at Belmont last Wednesday and just looked in need of the run when third. Straight to the mile and fitter, he’ll do me in a race in two to my eye.
9 Westbound (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the fascinating runner. He spanked them at Geraldton, blessed in the run, but still was dominant. I find him fascinating because he comes straight to town, is nominated for all the good races and the market late on debut was against him. He could be a rocket, time will tell, but he does command serious respect here.
3 Mohegan Ruler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He ran over 1200m here two weeks back where he got a fair way off speed and worked home well enough when third to Kraken Time. Jumps straight to the mile and Pike takes over.
Race 3. (16:14) Carbine Club Of Wa Apprentices Cup (Bm66+) 2200m
2 First Encounter (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning in an open staying contest. He ran over the mile here two weeks ago where he got off speed and kept chasing strongly in the straight but couldn’t quite get there behind Be Bardot. Like the rise in trip for him, good upside and strikes a winnable staying contest.
1 Simply (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and has found positive form I feel, his latest start seeing him finish fourth to Be Bardot, just lackign up change up speed but stayed on and was a definite pass mark in defeat.
6 Magic Whistle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 2200m after racing over 2100m two weeks back here. He did early work to land on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through late behind Antique Star. Two time track/distance winner, not sacking him just yet.
Race 4. (16:54) Tabtouch (Rs0ly) 1200m
8 American Escape (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top in a race I don’t really want to get involved in. She resumed two weeks ago at this track/distance where she got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never really threatening, she did make up ground and was an eye catcher late. If she can settle closer, she’ll take holding out.
4 Gold Maker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is finding it really hard to win but he is a model of consistency and is dangerous. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here where he got off speed and wide before being presented wider and launched late when second. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what start he concedes.
5 Net Zero (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Dan Morton trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since the WA Derby when far from disgraced behind Machine Gun Gracie. Likely spots them a start but will be stronger than most at the end.
Race 5. (17:34) Glenroy Chaff (Rs1mw) 1200m
8 Nicciana (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be top seed here after a commanding win two weeks ago over 1400m, sitting near the speed and was trucking before being clicked up by CJP and away he went to win and win well. Back in trip is fine, good racing style, hard fit, in form…he appeals.
6 Shooting Spirit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Simon Miller trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since May 28 when never really a factor at Pinjarra. Looks to have trialled well for the return and good lead that Pike is booked to steer.
1 Canny Rock (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he got a fair way off speed and while he was never threatening, I loved the way he finished his race off. He’ll likely get back but be strong at the end.
Race 6. (18:10) Mca Polytrack (Bm78+) 1200m
5 Essentric Nature (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m, which I find interesting, but he is a very good horse for Team Williams that is very genuine and will be stronger than most late. His last couple of starts/wins have come over 1400m, the latest being here three weeks ago when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. If he is within range, I think he’ll be too strong late.
6 Kay Tee Why (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a slight query at 1200m but he too is a genuine animal. He ran over 1000m here a fortnight back, getting a fair way out of his ground but charged late when second to Too Dardy. 1200m, I think, will be okay, and commands respect.
4 Ghost Who Walks (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one for exotics. He ran in the Too Dardy race from two weeks back here over 1000m, sitting wide throughout and made up some headway but was never really a factor. Not sure he is good enough to win but can run top four.
Race 7. (18:45) Fairetha Stakes 1400m
1 King Of Light (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a rocket for Dan Morton and it’s hard to get away from him given what he did in the Belgravia, giving them a start and a beating in a dominant display. That was over 1200m so 1400m should be ideal…the nightmare could be gate one but with luck, I think he’s clearly top seed.
6 Statewide (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the 1400m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead. The 1400m run from two weeks ago…gee it wasn’t a pretty watch. Just got dragged back continually and was never really a factor. First uo win was impressive and I am confident he can measure up with his best.
2 Country God (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was ridden with intent in the Belgravia, sitting on speed and was there to threaten but just couldn’t quite see it through. Better for the run, he is more than good enough to take this out.
Race 8. (19:20) Lee Steere Stakes 1400m
9 Super Smink (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be winning this if they are fair dinkum about going to the Railway. Quiet ride I thought in the Crawford, almost like a barrier trial, only getting very warm late behind Rope Them In. Fitter, 1400m, class factor…she should be winning.
1 Western Empire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a class animal in his own right that resumes. He had a mixed Winter campaign but overall, was pretty solid, and have loved the way he’s trialled to get ready for the return. Likely spots them a start but will motor late.
4 Bustler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Neville Parnham. He resumed in the Crawford where he got back off speed and did make up headway but was never really threatening. Much better set up here for him, his best is good enough to sneak a first four spot.
Race 9. (20:00) Luckygray Stakes 1800m
5 Captain Pluto (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be top seed. Massive effort in the Northam Cup last start. He got a mile out of his ground and spotted them a big start but you had to like the way he finished his race off in defeat. Hard fit, up in trip, I think it all points to him.
4 Sensessional (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver from the Northam Cup given he was five weeks between runs and I think that was evident late, just lacking the change up speed required. He’ll take good improvement from that run and I don’t see 1800m being an issue.
12 Iowa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has eyes on the Perth Cup. He resumed in the Northam Cup where he got a decent enough run in transit and did try hard but just lacked the class and dash. Might need another, but I think he’s on track for January 1.
Race 10. (20:35) National Jockey Trust (Bm66+) 1400m
15 Noahquintilly (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me in an open contest. Several weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Astro World. Good racing style and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.
7 Correct Choice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when landing on speed and was trucking it appeared. Hailed as the winner but was nabbed on the peg by Essentric Nature. Better for the run, he takes beating.
1 Angel Undercover (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back big time in grade/depth after racing in the Crawford when outclassed on paper but I thought was far from disgraced in defeat behind Rope Them In. Like her back to this level. Just needs luck from the tricky gate.
