One of the feature races at Randwick this Saturday is The Everest (1200m), where the market says it is all about the Hong Kong champion and reigning winner Ka Ying Rising.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for The Everest 2026.
The Everest 2026 Runner Preview:
1. Ka Ying Rising: Despite the prospect of a wet track, you do have to give enormous respect to Ka Ying Rising. He is the second best sprinter of all time behind Black Caviar, he is the best horse in the world currently and comes here off the back of a track record win at Sha Tin. The trial here on shifty ground…there’s no sugar coating. He was plain. Compared to what he does in Hong Kong, he was plain. If the rain misses and it’s a firm deck, he’s a genuine $1.10 chance, maybe shorter. Wet track, genuine wet track, I’d want $2+.
2. Jimmysstar: Happy to die alone on the hill when saying that if he drew well last year, Jimmysstar wins The Everest. His run in defeat was just unbelievable, sitting three/four wide the trip yet still had the hide to attack the line. Off an incredible Manikato triumph, gets juice in the track…just needs a better run in transit compared to last year and I think he will run an absolute beauty.
3. Giga Kick: The wet track is a big tick…his two runs back though have been awful. He goes through to the keeper.
4. Angel Capital: Things fell into place in the Rupert Clarke and he got the job done. Just not entirely sure that is strong form. He ran well in the race last year but looks up against it.
5. Caballus: He’ll press forward and give a sight but he’s outclassed.
6. Headwall: He won’t mind juice in the track but he is a 1000m horse for mine.
7. Ninja: Big tick is getting wet ground and to be fair, he smoked in the trial when beating Ka Ying Rising. Maps to do no work, he’ll be strong late, he’s a first four threat.
8. Joliestar: I think Joliestar is somewhat forgotten. She was enormous in defeat first up, closing with real purpose behind Mazu, just missing. She was jogging in the trial here last week and we know Chris Waller in a Grand Final, she has to be given serious respect and is a knockout hope.
9. Tempted: She is 4/4 on soft ground but I do think she’s much, much better on firmer footing. Stunning win in the Premiere, stable is humming…but she looks very short.
10. Spicy Martini: Thought she was right on track to do something positive…but Equicast on tells me her feet aren’t 100% otherwise why would it be applied. I think she’ll run a big race regardless.
11. Savvy Hallie: Battled on really well in the Premiere but is going to be found wanting late here.
12. Blue Door: If it was a race to the 600m, she wins. But there is another 600m to go and she’s going to be wanting her Mummy and a good sleep from the 600m onwards.
The Everest 2026 $100 Betting Strategy:
$10 Win/$40 Place Jimmysstar and Joliestar
Group 1 Strategy Outlay: $1500
Group 1 Strategy Return: $886
The Everest 2026 Speed Map
Ninja likely finds the fence first but will opt for cover I dare say from Blue Door/Ka Ying Rising, who look the 1-2 for the speed. The other two key speed runners, potentially, are Caballus and Savvy Hallie.
