8/1/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gold Coast, The Wave day

The two week Magic Millions Carnival at the Gold Coast kicks off this Saturday, where it is TAB Wave Day. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

9 Manhood (Bet Now: $2.00) looks above average. Michael Costa trained three year old that was backed with confidence when debuting here on Boxing Day and he didn’t give his supporters a moment of worry, sitting on speed and drawing clear late in a commanding performance. Good test here, but confident he measures up and goes close.

1 Starman (Bet Now: $3.20) deserves another chance. Strong winner fresh at Rosehill before going to 1400m at Randwick where he seemingly had his chance and I thought was plain behind stablemate Toomuchtobear. Hard fit now third up from a break and I think back to 1200m is a big tick.

3 Frosty Mango (Bet Now: $3.80) should be suited up to 1200m. Market wanted her first up over 1050m at Doomben but just went a bit keen in the run when asked to restrain and I reckon that took away something from her finale when bloused late by stablemate Muschialli. The freshness is out of her system and she should be ready to go.

2 Sir Rocket (Bet Now: $1.90) looks prepped up big time for this. Class got him home here two back before going to the Sunny Coast when wide no cover for the trip but worked home strongly when a narrow second to Iolite. The horse has really turned the corner since joining Michael Costa and will take beating here.

It’s well known that Nash Rawiller is a gun on front runners so his booking to steer 1 Only Wanna Sing (Bet Now: $4.80) I like. The horse has 60.5kg to carry here but that will be weight relief for him after lumping 65kg last start. Attempted to lead throughout and gave a good kick but just felt the pinch late with the weight. If he leads and gets control, he’ll take running down.

5 Getyourgreyon (Bet Now: $8.50) hasn’t been too bad in a couple of runs for Kevin Kemp with this race in mind. On speed and stuck on well late two back at Ipswich before going to Warwick where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but just felt the pinch late. I think with a more conservative steer, he’ll be more effective.

8 Hell I Am (Bet Now: $3.30) will need luck from a potentially tricky gate but I think he has talent. Market loved him on debut in the Wyong 2YO Magic Millions but the rub of the green didn’t go his way in the straight and IMO he fights the finish out with clear air. If he gets luck from the gate, he’ll finish over the top.

3 Swiss Exile (Bet Now: $3.10) is an Annabel Neasham trained colt that was met with good market support at odds last time out in the BJ McLachlan and he seemed to get a decent enough run in transit behind a good speed but he couldn’t sustain it when third to a brilliant filly and likely Magic Millions winner, Coolangatta. That’s the right form for this.

2 Heroic Son (Bet Now: $17.00) deserves another chance. Had done little wrong in his career prior to racing at the Sunny Coast last time out on the new Poly Track and it looks to be a case of horses either handle it or they don’t. He clearly didn’t. Off his prior form, he does command respect here.

4 Miss Hellfire (Bet Now: $3.90) looks a smart juvenile for Team Snowden. Trialled up super prior to debuting in the Wyong 2YO Magic Millions where she just had to wait for a stride or two to get the run and that losing of momentum cost her the win IMO when a narrow second to Soaring Ambition. Can she be the X factor to challenge the hot pot next Saturday? A win here and the answer is yes.

11 Honey Pot (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to have above average talent. Tony Gollan trains this filly, who was smashed in betting on debut several weeks ago at the Sunny Coast but after bombing the start, that sealed her fate. Did a remarkable job to get as close as she did. Better luck this time around, she can take this out.

2 Perfect Mission (Bet Now: $6.00) can measure up here. Arguably should have won two back at the Sunny Coast before going here on Boxing Day where she looked a good thing on paper and justified the confidence with an arrogant win. I think she’d run well in a Magic Millions, but needs to win here.

2 Lady Of Luxury (Bet Now: $3.90) has been up a little while but Bjorn Baker has her absolutely flying at the moment. Was bursting to win another race and it came on Boxing Day at Randwick, helped by a peach from Brock Ryan. There is a bit of depth to this line up, but hard fit and in form, she commands respect.

3 Boomnova (Bet Now: $3.10) is a beauty for Chris Munce. She rarely runs a bad race and that was the case at Doomben on Boxing Day when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a pretty good kick. Just couldn’t quite finish it off and was nabbed late by Mass Destruction. That does read well for this and you’d think she has improvement to come.

1300m is a query with 4 Lady Banff (Bet Now: $13.00), and is 0/2 at the track, but her best is good enough to be competitive. Ran behind Lady Of Luxury at Randwick where she seemingly had every chance and couldn’t quite finish the race off. If she gets a cheap, economical run, she’s a first four threat.

5 Palladas (Bet Now: $1.85) looks suited up in trip. Resumed over 1200m at Doomben on Boxing Day where he just looked a bit rusty and in need of the run, but was good late from off the speed when fourth to stablemate Mass Destruction. He’ll come on from that and has the class to go close.

1 The Ritz (Bet Now: $9.50) has a sharp overall record and is unbeaten in two runs here on his home track. He’ll welcome the drop back in grade/depth after contesting the Falvelon on Boxing Day where he found them a bit sharp when down the track behind Roheryn. Back to this sort of race, he can bounce back.

7 Le Heros (Bet Now: $27.00) is a knockout chance. He was a notable drifter in betting when resuming at Ipswich but nobody told the horse that market move against him because he sat on speed and showed good change up speed when asked by Collett and won quite impressively. Harder here, but he can sneak a first four spot.

5 Tamilaide (Bet Now: $8.00) has a few loose screws upstairs still but he has home track advantage and a touch of brilliance I think. On face value, he was a touch on the disappointing side at Eagle Farm last start but given the race shape and the fact he was a mile off them, the run had merit. Speed will be strong, he’ll get three wide cover and launch at these late.

3 Love Tap (Bet Now: $5.50) should be suited up in trip. Bit flat two back over 1850m at Newcastle on Hunter Day. Freshened up and went to 1400m at Randwick where he was flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and was good late when fourth to Oscar Zulu. Like him up in distance and I think ridden with a more initiative won’t hurt.

10 Dzsenifer (Bet Now: $16.00) is a beauty for Gary Duncan that I think will be fine at 1800m here. Just depends on whether or not she has the class. Lovely ride from Leah Kilner saw her win on Boxing Day at Doomben, slicing her way through the field and driving hard late to win. She commands respect I think with local advantage.

6 The Move (Bet Now: $3.90) can bounce back here. Market kept him very safe in betting in the Swiss Ace Plate and he ran okay, but was just no match for Zoustyle, and we saw what that horse did last Saturday in the George Moore. Better for the run under the belt, he’ll take beating here.

4 Niedorp (Bet Now: $7.50) is suited at the short course IMO so 900m here I do like for her. Kept on ice since contesting the Bribie four weeks ago when off the speed and working home pretty well late when third to Totally Charmed. Tick over trial last week was a good piece of work and is a leading chance.

10 Remlaps Gem (Bet Now: $6.00) is a short course specialist for Scott Singleton that looks well suited here. He was around six weeks between runs when racing over 1000m at Randwick. Was just forced to do a bit too much work on speed and tired late but far from disgraced behind The Bopper. That reads well for this.

14 Glitter Strip (Bet Now: $5.50) looks so well placed here by Tony Gollan. Close fresh behind stablemate Miami Fleiss fresh at Stakes level. Then went to Doomben on Boxing Day where she got a fair way back in the run but loved the way she closed off behind Wonderful Riri. Back to this sort of level, hard fit, touch of class, keen.

7 Mass Destruction (Bet Now: $3.30) is a talented animal for Tony Gollan that was given an absolute peach by J Mac to record a first up win on Boxing Day. Drew 13/15 but landed the 1/1 spot and drove hard late to win, with no doubt IMO that the ride won the race. Fitter, he’s got the brilliance to measure up here.

2 Roman Aureus (Bet Now: $12.00) is racing in solid form for Brian Wakefield. He continued his love affair with the Doomben 1350m on Boxing Day, running another positive race when a closing third to impressive winner Wonderful Riri. He does tend to save his best for that track/distance. Can he translate it to here?
