Race 1. (12:15) Midway (Bm74) 1500m
7 Callistemon (Bet Now: $SP.00) takes beating here for Kerry Parker after resuming in the Midway two weeks ago at Kembla where Parker himself said the mare wasn’t ready and while she didn’t win, she ran very well in defeat. Fitter, up in trip, she’ll run a beauty.
12 Trafalgar Square (Bet Now: $SP.00) is finding it hard to win but she is racing well, as seen at the midweeks here when off speed and kept chasing out wide but was no match late for Theblade. Bursting to win and I think back to Midway grade, she commands respect.
2 Tambeloa (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner for Kristen Buchanan. He ran fourth in the Spring Champion last start, which is clearly A1 form for a race like this. Just a matter of where he is at re fitness levels. Trial was quite good, watch betting.
Race 2. (12:50) Hyland Race Colours (Bm72) 1800m
2 Natoya (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the map horse and I think she can bounce back. Big win at Newcastle three back before a solid run at Randwick on Cup Day. She then went to Kembla two weeks ago and didn’t quite get the rub of the green I thought. Maps to stalk Horizons and get last look.
5 Horizons (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after an all the way win over 1900m at Canterbury. getting front end control and she had enough in hand, just, to score. Good racing style and is more dangerous if the track is playing up/in.
6 Climb The Ladder (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1800m after a placing over 1500m here at the midweeks. He got back off speed and was held up at times in a pretty good effort behind stablemate Ivan’s Hero. The rise to 1800m looks ideal and he has struck a very winnable race.
Race 3. (13:25) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1500m
9 Mount Bona (Bet Now: $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction for Messara/Gavranich after a win on the home deck at Scone. She had the sweet sit in transit before angling into clear air and surged hard late under Bullock to score. Has found winning form, she can go on with it.
12 Tillstrom (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Highway from Newcastle a few weeks back. He got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort, closing nicely at the end behind Upwardly Mobile. Racing as if 1500m here will be fine and takes beating.
8 Write Your Own (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing really well for Matty Dale but he can’t quite crack it for a win. He ran third in the Highway two weeks back at Kembla when off speed and was there to win. Loomed but just whacked and ground to the line when third. Couldn’t back him to win but is a must for exotics.
Race 4. (14:00) Vinnie @ Yarraman Park (Bm72) 1500m
7 Automne Tree (Bet Now: $SP.00) has home track advantage and should be around the mark, as seen over 1550m at Canterbury last start when off speed and worked home well enough without threatening when fourth to Swift Legend. If he can settle closer, be within range, he’s dangerous.
5 Swift Legend (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a line finder and heading in the right direction for Les Bridge. He has won his past two, winning the maiden at Warwick Farm two back before going to Canterbury when knuckling down with purpose late to get there in the last stride. Racing well, he should be around the mark.
4 Viktor (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1500m after a win over 1400m at Newcastle when knuckling down with purpose late from off speed to nail Copacabana on the peg. 1500m should be fine and off last run, he’s one of the leading contenders.
Race 5. (14:35) Asahi Super Dry (Bm72) 1200m
7 Supermassive (Bet Now: $SP.00) jumps on the bunny and takes running down for GaiBott after a maiden win at Canterbury when leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in to win quite impressively. Lands on speed, dare say in front, and takes running down.
6 United States (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a really good horse. His record says no but I know the stable and J Mac did/do think highly of him. He was very good against the pattern when resuming at Canterbury, getting back off speed, peeling wide and was good late when fourth. Fitter and up in trip, he needs to win this I dare say if they are even considering a trip to the Gold Coast in January.
Race 6. (15:10) Catanach's Jewellers (Bm88) 1100m
2 Carbonados (Bet Now: $SP.00) resumed with a bang at Randwick on Cup Day, getting the sweet sit in transit behind the speed. Just a matter of getting clear air and once that eventuated, away he went and was impressive in the run to the line. Good upside/improvement to come, off a win…rates highly.
1 Appin Girl (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very intriguing runner. Formerly with Matty Hoysted, she now finds herself with Joe Pride, who is fast becoming THE go to trainer for a tried horse. This mare is Stakes class and her trial work to get ready has been encouraging so watch the market.
3 Plundering (Bet Now: $SP.00) is first up for Team Archibald and commands respect. He hasn’t raced since Sep 21 at the Gold Coast when fourth to Winston Smurfhill when keen behind the speed and just weakened late. Very good on the fresh side and his trial work has been strong.
Race 7. (15:45) Chandon (Bm78) 1300m
13 Bella Corazon (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Team Archibald that resumed two weeks ago at Kembla when off speed and chased with purpose in the straight in a good effort in defeat behind Weeping Womn. Fitter, right down in the weights and with good upside, appeals.
1 Island Dream (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Chris Waller trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Sep 24 over the mile at Warwick Farm when a noted drifter in betting and ran accordingly, failing to fire. Looks to have trialled up really well, watch betting.
3 Flying Thinker (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip after resuming over 1200m two weeks back at Kembla behind Weeping Woman when struggling to pick the feet up on the bog and tired late to finish down the track behind the Joe Pride mare. Better set up here, she’s dangerous.
Race 8. (16:20) Tab (Bm94) 1400m
I want to give 17 Midnight Opal (Bet Now: $SP.00) another chance. Nathan Doyle trained gelding that ran three weeks ago at Newcastle and I thought was given an ordinary steer by McEvoy, getting badly held up in behind when seemingly having plenty in hand behind Brave One. If the breaks go his way, he can win each way.
12 Just Party (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came three weeks ago at Newcastle when quite good against the pattern late behind Brave One. Think with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating against these.
1 West Of Africa (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality galloper for Team Archibald that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Scone Cup in the Autumn when down the track behind Tavi Time. His trial work to get ready has been quite strong, I’d watch betting and see what it does.
Race 9. (17:00) Captivant @ Kia Ora (Bm78) 2000m
2 Belle Detelle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1800m here. She got into a decent near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when third to stablemate Rotagilla. The rise to 2000m suits and hard fit now, she takes beating I say.
4 Hurstville Zagreb (Bet Now: $SP.00)… is there petrol left in the tank? If so, he’s a clear threat. Early petrol ticket burning cost him the win two back here before going to Kembla where not much went right for him in a total forgive. Lands on speed, he’ll run very well.
1 Barazin (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 2000m after racing three weeks back over 1850m at Newcastle. He got off speed and kept chasing but was never really threatening behind Sun God. Like him up to 2000m and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.
Race 10. (17:40) The Inglis Influence (Bm78) 1300m
10 Bartolf (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1300m after racing over 1200m at Rosehill a few weeks ago where he got back off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat when second to Tuned. Racing like 1300m suits and does command respect against these.
2 Tuned (Bet Now: $SP.00) has returned well and is one of the key chances. He ran two weeks ago at Kembla when near the speed and was there to win, looming as the likely victor, but just found one better in wet tracker Applaud. Hard fit, he appeals.
Shihab (Bet Now: $SP.00) is humming for Glen Milligan. He was enormous in defeat at Newcastle last time behind Brave One, getting a mile out of his ground but was quite good late in the piece. If the inside gate can be used to advantage, he’s dangerous.
