Race 1. (12:50) Ready's @ The Doylo Super Mdn Hcp 1200m
I think the market will flip come jump time and 6 Yoshinobu (Bet Now:Β $1.50) starts favourite. Resumes for the Neasham/Archibald camp, having not raced since his debut in the Autumn when last, outclassed, in the Silver Slipper. His trials leading in have been super and McEvoy, who rode in the trials, sticks.
9 Polymnia (Bet Now:Β $4.50) is an O’Shea/Charlton trained filly that resumes. She hasn’t raced since her debut at Newcastle on May 4 when just off the speed and while she had her chance, she didn’t disgrace herself in defeat I thought behind Godelba. Trials leading in have been strong and this race has thinned right out after scratchings.
3 Tautou (Bet Now:Β $5.50) is an improver for GaiBott. She resumed on Rowley Mile Day at Hawkesbury when near the speed throughout and battled late in the piece. Blinkers go back on to sharpen her up so keen to see how she goes.
Race 2. (13:25) Wyong Leagues Group Midway Mdn Plate 1350m
7 The Bentley (Bet Now:Β $6.00) will do me each way in what looks an open maiden. Mick Minervini trained gelding that ran at Newcastle last time over 1400m when on speed throughout and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when second. He gets the Blinkers on, maps ideally and should be strong at the end.
8 Classic Poetry (Bet Now:Β $3.50) bring solid enough form leading into this but I am surprised she is favourite given her last start effort at Scone where she was near the speed and seemed to have her chance but was a bit on the plain side late in the piece. Her best is good enough and she can clearly win…but I’d want $4+ before entertaining her.
2 Hongkong Harmony (Bet Now:Β $34.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Rod Bailey. He hasn’t been too bad in two runs back from a spell, the latest run being over 1100m here when off the speed and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line and was solid enough in defeat. Hard fit now and up in trip, he’s dangerous.
Race 3. (14:05) Central Coast Coolrooms Da Vinci (Bm64) 1300m
5 Rip Off (Bet Now:Β $2.30) seems the straight bat play here. James Cummings trained mare that has been strong in two runs back from a spell, winning fresh here before going to Hawkesbury when off the speed and loomed to win but couldn’t quite get there when second to True To Form. Hard fit, kind map, she rates highly.
6 Bit Of Banter (Bet Now:Β $3.90) is an interesting runner. Bjorn Baker trains this mare, who was 2/2 to start her career, both at the country, winning at Bathurst before a narrow but gritty win at Mudgee. Couple of trials to get ready, and beware the unbeaten horse.
9 Debello (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is the outsider of the quartet but he is capable. He was 1100m to 1300m at Hawksebury last time in the True To Form race mentioned above. He was on speed and fought hard but couldn’t quite see it through. Has that run under the belt, potentially leads and will give a sight.
Race 4. (14:40) Bishop Collins Chartered Accountants (Bm68) 1200m
4 Fill A Promise (Bet Now:Β $16.00) is absolutely humming for Nikki Pollock and deserves a crack at this level. She has won five on the bounce, helped by some ripping placement, but even allowing for that, the mare has been very genuine. Good test here, but with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.
7 Maz Kanata (Bet Now:Β $3.70) has a tricky draw to overcome but comes here off a win, and it was an impressive win. it came on Goulburn Cup Day when getting the sweet sit just off the speed before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win well. Hard to beat despite the draw.
6 I’m A Steel (Bet Now:Β $11.00) rises in trip but off a win, she commands respect. That win came over 1020m at Moruya where she gave them a start and a beating, launching from the back for a big win. Like her up in trip and has a gate to do no work and be effective late. Knockout hope.
Race 5. (15:20) Hunter Petroleum Products (Bm68) 1600m
3 Aunty Rene (Bet Now:Β $3.80) has found winning form and she can go on with it. O’Shea/Charlton trained mare that was knocking on the door to win and that win came at Kembla last time where she got a 12/10 steer by Atkins and she got better as the race went on, winning quite well. Hard fit now, winning form, she appeals.
6 Behind The Storm (Bet Now:Β $4.80) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but he’s in winning form and can unleash a strong finale, as seen at Muswellbrook last time where he got back to near last in the run but unleashed a powerful finale to overhaul them and win well. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’s dangerous.
7 Buba (Bet Now:Β $15.00) has home track advantage, which holds her in good stead I say. Ran over the mile at Kembla last time where she seemingly had every chance from just off the speed but that said, she wasn’t beaten far in fourth. Tricky draw, but should press forward and give cheek.
Race 6. (15:55) Carlton Draught (Bm64) 1600m
10 Kervette (Bet Now:Β $2.60) should take beating for Kristen Buchanan. This mare ran over 1400m at Newcastle last time out where she got back to near last in the run but unleashed a strong finale and for a few strides, she looked home, but had to settle for a narrow second to Obvious Step. Up in trip is fine and maps perfect.
1 Doraskaya (Bet Now:Β $4.80) looks to have returned in pretty good order. This mare did more than enough fresh at Wyong over 1350m before going to the mile there where she loved the rise in trip and was strong late in winning. Has good upside to come, in well after the claim, appeals big time.
9 Grenoble (Bet Now:Β $10.00) will put himself on speed and run a race at odds, which is what he did at Tamworth and gave a decent sight from the front but couldn’t quite see it through when second to impressive winner Cenotes. 2100m back to the mile I find interesting but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.
Race 7. (16:35) Wyong Cup 2100m
10 Medatsu (Bet Now:Β $4.80) looks a really nice horse on the up for Chris Waller. There was a lot to like about his win first up two weeks ago, giving them a start and a beating and gee the way he put them away was that of a good horse. Keen to see him again as he potentially has better races in store.
6 Etna Rosso (Bet Now:Β $3.30), potentially, is following the Durston path of 2022. He won this, then the Newcastle Cup, unlucky in the Metropolitan and then went to the Caulfield Cup. Fair bit of water to go under the bridge between now and then but he does look a good prospect and he was arrogant at Rosehill last time. Good test here, but he will measure up for sure.
4 Manzoice… (Bet Now:Β $5.00) is he back? Looked completely gone but he showed enough zip in the Premiers Cup Prelude a few weeks back. Ridden with intent, which I found interesting, and he closed off his race strongly, but had no answers late for Golden Path. Fitter and up in trip, has class, definite chance.
Race 8. (17:10) Senpos Point Of Sale Hcp (C1) 1100m
1 Hezdamhottoo (Bet Now:Β $2.60) looks ready to go first up for Bjorn Baker. This gelding is fresh, having not raced since The Championships when down the track in the Kindergarten behind Espionage. Been given a godo break and has trialled up really well in readiness for his return. Tricky draw, but he’s the one to beat.
3 Miss Couver (Bet Now:Β $4.40) is a Vancouver mare for Anthony Cummings that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since March 27 on the Kenso when midfield behind Everyone’s A Star. She is a good fresh horse and has trialled up nicely for the return. Leading contender.
4 Agenda Setter (Bet Now:Β $4.40) commands some level of respect. Team Hawkes trained three year old that returned to racing as a gelding at Hawkesbury, leading all the way and was quite dominant in the run to the line. Good return off impressive trial work, keen to see how he goes.
