6/11/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Flemington, VRC Crown Oaks day

Cup Week at Flemington continues this Thursday with Oaks Day, headlined by the Group l Crown Oaks (2500m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

12 Full Hao (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned well and is in the mix for Chris Waller after a last start second at Warwick Farm over the mile where she was one of the first off the bit but kept chasing and was pretty good when second to impressive winner Hurstville Zagreb. Hard fit, back to Mares grade, J Mac sticks…easy to find.

11 First Chorus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran a very credible race on Geelong Cup Day. She ran second over 1400m when just off speed and tried hard but found one better in Bluepinot. Tricky draw but will press forward and be dangerous.

14 Realika (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will be strong at the end of 1700m. Just depends if she handles give in the track. Real eye catcher over 1800m at Sandown last start when off speed and working home with real purpose when second to Autumn Slide. Maps to settle much closer and be effective late provided a wet track is fine for her.

Gee 5 Getafix (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks well placed here by the O’Shea/Charlton and when it is go time for this stable, they turn to J Mac. Two runs in Sydney to start the prep were ordinary but they were on firm decks and I think he wants to get his toe in, which he’ll get here. I am keen on his chances.

2 Cloudland (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won this race last year and looks on track to run well again. Kept on the fresh side since a game effort over 1200m at Randwick behind the in form Disneck, potentially with this race in mind, and he did look sharp in a tick over trial.

1 Statuario (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the class runner of the field and I suspect has been freshened up with eyes on the Cranbourne/Ballarat Cup maybe? Attempted to lead throughout in the Coongy and gave a decent sight but tired late behind the in form Wootton Verni. Class will carry him a long way.

7 Sweltering (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the best maidens in Australia and is flying without winning. She ran in the Angst a few weeks back and was good late without threatening behind Idle Flyer in a race that rated through the roof. Bursting to win and appears well placed here.

2 Verona Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Gary Portelli. Just think she got a bit too far out of her ground in the Angst and while she was never threatening, I didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. Looks well suited back to this level.

8 Enna’s Dream (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for Alex Rae but is finding it hard to win. Latest run saw her run third in the VOBIS Gold Star at The Valley, surging hard late to just miss. 1600m is the queyr but maps to get every chance.

Big fan of 11 Shockletz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) and keen to see how she goes here. She resumed with an absolute bang over the mile at Sandown, producing really good change up speed from off the pace to win and win well. Fitter and up in trip, loves Flemington, like her.

9 Al Duca (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for Team Freedman. He attempted to lead throughout at Caulfield last start and tried his guts out but just found one better in Blindedbythelight. Good racing style and will give himself every chance.

13 Ocean Beyond (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1500m at Geelong where he got back to near last in the run and made up some headway but was never really threatening behind Ruakaka Raider. Not sure he wins, but can run top four.

2 Detonator Jack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Ciaron Maher trained gelding that comes through the Big Dance Wild Card when off speed and seemingly had his chance but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Vivy Air. Like the set up for him here and he does love getting his toe in.

8 Poison Chalice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive in the Gawler Cup when back and wide in the run but he kept finding the line and wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Air Assault. Fitter and up in trip, J Mac aboard, he’s one of the leading contenders.

1 New Endeavour (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for GaiBott…is he one from the East who heads West? Maybe. He’s the class horse of the field that resumes, having not raced since The Q22 when second to Kovalica during the Brisbane Carnival. If he’s ready to go, he can win.

12 Fearless Writer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets the nod but gee she looks a hard race to sort out with confidence. She was quite game in defeat over the mile at Morphettville last start when off speed in a race dominated on pace but she kept finding the line and was pretty good late in the piece. Should get good cover, a drag into the race, dangerous for sure.

6 Guerite (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Lindsey Smith after a big win last Wednesday at Bendigo, giving them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale from the back to win impressively. The rise to the mile looks ideal and she’s a mare heading in the right direction.

15 Lake Vostok (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing in reallt good form at the moment for Luke Oliver. She ran second over the mile at Hamilton last start, sitting off speed and working home really well late in the piece behind Barbie’sdreamworld when second. Previous track/distance winner, she can threaten.

13 Cantiamo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly I have been hot on for this race for a little while and won’t be dropping off. Had two runs in the early part of the Spring for two wins, each time knuckling down with purpose. Kept on ice for this race, trialled well at Newcastle and loved a recent jumpout here. I think she’s ready to rock and roll.

10 Surf’s Up (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat here I say. She ran over 1200m at Caulfield a few weeks ago where she got back in the run and not sure she was entirely happy around the track but balanced up and was good late behind Point Barrow. Racing like a fast run 1100m suits and will love getting to Flemington.

1 Inkaruna (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs after two runs over 1100m down the straight to start the prep, the latest in the Danehill when outclassed, finishing down the track behind McGaw. Back to her own age/sex, back miles in depth, she appeals.

1 Getta Good Feeling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) picks herself. It wasn’t much of a race the Wakeful but she carried the weight penalty and was arrogant the way she comfortably held them at bay. 2500m should be no issue for her, she has the runs on the board…clearly top seed.

3 Spicy Lu (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and is a threat. That win came in the Ethereal where she got front end control, a 12/10 steer by Nash, and gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. Has that 2000m run under the belt, she is in the mix.

5 Ethereum Girl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive from the Wakeful. Got badly held up in behind when seemingly having plenty up the sleeve and pretty much went around like a barrier trial. Don’t see 2500m being an issue an has freshness in the legs.

1 Rey Magnerio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance after his electric return in the Caulfield Sprint. He would have been a tragedy beaten had he not got clear but thankfully for his fans he did and produced electric change up speed to score. Heading towards the Winterbottom, keen to see how he goes.

15 Trembles (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a proven short course type so 1000m here suits. She was a winner over 1000m at Bendigo two back before going to The Valley when on speed and fought hard but had no answers for Stokke. Good racing style, she’ll take running down.

13 Rich Dottie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Beggy. Rode her far too warm in the Caulfield Sprint and she rightfully dropped out to finish down the track behind Rey Magnerio. I think with a more patient steer, she’s a definite improver.
