Race One: Schweppes Handicap (64) 1050m:

Back Me: 2 She Ra (Bet Now: $2.50) resumed over 1000m on the Parks track a couple of weeks back where she showed super speed to lead and lead comfortably by a space and for the most part, she looked home until the final stride where it looked as if Sweet Varden got the win, but the photo went the way of She Ra. Can only improve off that I think and rates highly.
Big Danger: 1 Irish Mint (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Port Lincoln visitor who deserves a crack in town after a couple of dominant wins on his home track, both times leading all the way under the guidance of Matthew Poon. He won’t get it easy on speed here, but it’s hard to knock winning form and okay time for both meetings.
Roughie: 4 Amative (Bet Now: $14.00) was unwanted in betting when racing in a Balaklava maiden last time out and she defied the odds with a solid all the way win in a maiden that did look okay on paper. The time compared well with Itz Invincible, who will go around later in the day. This isn’t a strong race and she has upside. One for exotics.

Race Two: Akeed Mofeed @ Goldin Farms Handicap (82) 2047m:

Back Me: 2 Extra Choice (Bet Now: $2.40) looks the way to go here. He comes here off the back of a closing effort over 1700m on Geelong Cup Day behind Making Mayhem on a day where getting back and running on was difficult to do. He did win the Geelong Classic last year, so 2047m here is no issue at all, and fourth up now, he should be cherry ripe fitness wise.
Big Danger: 7 One For Max (Bet Now: $8.50) is on the back up after racing over 1950m on the Parks track last Saturday where he sat outside the speed and it turned into a sit/sprint affair, which doesn’t suit this horse at all. He doesn’t have many gears, but he will keep going all day, so up in trip and onto the bigger track will suit. He can definitely bounce back.
Roughie: 6 Kazoom (Bet Now: $6.00) is another on the seven day turnaround. He ran over 1550m last Saturday and was three/four wide no cover for the trip and did a remarkable job to finish as close as he did behind tearaway winner Mail It In. Distance is an issue, but this isn’t a strong race and he has obviously come through that hard run well to back up here.

Race Three: Panto Zecevich Maiden Plate 1200m:

Back Me: 12 Sweet Varden (Bet Now: $2.30) was run off her legs early when resuming on the Parks track two weeks ago but once she balanced up, she really savaged the line to just miss when running the narrowest of seconds to She Ra. Showed good promise last time in and though there appears to be a bit of depth in this maiden, I am happy to butter up on her again.
Big Danger: 2 Ghuangzhou (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Fastnet Rock colt that debuts for the Hayes/Dabernig stable that comes here off the back of a couple of sharp trials, which came in June/July, but the jump outs recently have been quite encouraging. Draws awkwardly but if he can overcome that, he will take some beating for sure in a strong maiden event.
Roughie: 9 Unrelated (Bet Now: $17.00) is a gelding that debuts for the Richard Jolly yard. He trialled last Monday on the Parks and wasn’t really asked to do much in the run when running fifth. Stable should always be respected with their first starters and there is a bit of pedigree about her. Perhaps one to watch from a market and mounting yard perspective.

Race Four: Aaron & Amanda Frith Handicap (64) 1600m:

Back Me: 9 Khaseeb (Bet Now: $5.50) looks one of the better bets on the program. She was a short priced elect when racing in an Echuca maiden last time out and was ridden that way by Regan Bayliss, getting the charmed run behind the tempo and when he clicked her up, away she went to win with real authority. Looked to be a bit of depth to that maiden and this is a thin race.
Big Danger: 3 Ready Right Now (Bet Now: $5.50) has been given a little freshen up since producing a brilliant finishing burst to win first up on Murray Bridge Cup Day, sitting back in the run and finishing off hard late to grab victory in the last stride. Little break between runs is some query, but that was the case with stablemate Brown Ben last week and he bolted in so I’ll respect trainer Tony McEvoy.
Roughie: 2 Burnro (Bet Now: $4.60) is on the back up after racing on the Parks track last Saturday where he got back to near last in the run and finished off his race with purpose behind the impressive winner Brown Ben. He does tend to save his best for the course proper, and with a likely genuine tempo here, he will one to watch late as he has the potential to ambush.

Race Five: The RSL Poppy Appeal Raceday Handicap (90) 1050m:

Back Me: 1 Casino Wizard (Bet Now: $2.75) drops a fair bit in depth after contesting the Durrbridge Stakes last start where he got a long way back in the run and finished off his race strongly despite no luck early on in the straight behind Cavaloce. I think back to 1050m is perfect, and despite the weight, I think his class and pure talent might just be enough to get him home here.
Big Danger: 2 Brimarvi Prince (Bet Now: $13.00) has been given a five week freshen up since racing over 1000m on the Parks track when sitting off speed and perhaps not getting the best of luck in the straight when fifth to Usain Dane. That form reads pretty well for a race of this level and he does have a better than 50% place record on the track.
Roughie: 5 Hook Me Up (Bet Now: $21.00) is a handy provincial sprinter that resumes for the astute Jamie Opperman stable. He had a pretty good prep during the Winter, mostly at the provincials, but when he ran in town he failed, which is some query, but his trial win at Mount Gambier, from all reports, was very good and the time was pretty good. Probably not a fresh horse, but a soft gate and Ben Allen riding certainly is no disadvantage.

Race Six: Happy 90th Birthday Dough Brown Handicap (64) 1100m:

Back Me: 1 Itz Invincible (Bet Now: $2.30) resumed at Balaklava a couple of weeks ago and despite lumping 60kg, he was just far too good for his rivals and won with a bit of authority. He performed very well in town last prep and the claim for Caboche means that 62kg is now 59kg, which will really help his winning claims.
Big Danger: 2 Herenoa (Bet Now: $3.30) is potentially the best horse in the race but he has just really struggled to find his best form for some time. Showed glimpses of it during the Winter, including a very solid third at Mildura behind Found My Way. No trials leading in, but he is yet to miss a place in five previous first up attempts, he draws a soft gate and Kah is riding in super form.
Long Shot: Giving 5 Duckworth (Bet Now: $6.50) one more chance. He is racing about as well as his name is playing Tennis, but the potential is there to improve. He has had two runs back from a break and has only been three runners out of 22. Course proper will suit, draws to sit handy off the pace and senior rider is back in the saddle. One to watch from a market perspective.

Race Seven: UBET Handicap (90) 1600m:

Back Me: 8 It And A Bit (Bet Now: $7.00) drops a bit in grade after contesting the Gawler Cup last time out where he sat near the speed and fought on well without really threatening behind King’s Pardon. I think returning to a bigger track will aid his cause, this isn’t a strong race, and fourth up now, he should just about be ready fitness wise.
Big Danger: 9 October Date (Bet Now: $4.20) is such an interesting runner here. She ran twice during the Carnival and was outclassed in a couple of quality events. Resumes over the mile here, but has been tuned up with a sharp trial win. If she brings her best, she is right in the contest.
Roughie: 1 Dylanson (Bet Now: $9.00) hasn’t really fired a shot this time in. Didn’t do much fresh in the Durrbridge and was much the same in the Gawler Cup when sitting near the speed and dropping out. Fab record at the track and getting fitter, so it’s close to D-Day for him. Claim for star apprentice Ben Allen also helps. Definite threat and probable winner if he brings his best.

Race Eight: MAC Drink Driving? GROW UP Handicap (85) 1200m:

Back Me: 8 Battle Brewing (Bet Now: $3.80) is an above average galloper for the Macdonald/Gluyas stable who resumed over this track/distance three weeks back and was very impressive in winning, leading all the way and bolting up to beat Septamore, an in form galloper for Darren Weir. Go back to the Autumn Carnival and he ran some handy races behind Howard Be Thy Name and Rageese, which is definite blacktype form. Only has upside and is better ridden with cover to my eye. One of the better bets on the program.
Big Danger: 11 House Of Wax (Bet Now: $12.00) resumed over 1100m here three weeks back where he had market support at a price and the little plonk almost pulled off when he ran a game second to in form mare Entrancing, who has since run a beauty at the Valley. He has a tidy second up record, stable is going well and up to 1200m can only be beneficial.
Roughie: 7 Alcobro (Bet Now: $13.00) was safe in the market when resuming at Gawler where he sat off speed and chased hard all the way when fourth to Super Flyer, beaten a couple of lengths. Didn’t have the best of luck when produced second up last time in, and the fresh run was solid enough to suggest he can be quite competitive here.
