5/11/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

4 Give Him Wings (Bet Now: $4.80) gets the nod in a tricky race. Chris Waller trained colt on debut and he’s bred to be a star being by Rubick out of the gun mare Amelia’s Dream. Won a three horse trial at the Sunny Coast and I thought moved really well when winning. On breeding, he should be a good one and I think he could well be.

2 Boomster (Bet Now: $7.50) has race experience, which should hold him in good stead here. He debuted at this track/distance two weeks ago where he was back off the speed and never a factor to Miss Coota, but made up ground and was good late when third. Better for the run, no Miss Coota here, he appeals.

3 Chrysaor (Bet Now: $2.90) is a son of Better Than Ready for Chris Waller that is on debut. He trialled recently at Beaudesert where he led all the way and seemingly moved well despite the time being rank relative to the morning. But, Waller polish and little depth here, he’s a threat for sure.

3 Hatchet (Bet Now: $2.10) gets another look for me. I was with him two weeks ago here and market wanted to be with him as well, but I just think 1350m and the wet track brought him undone when third to dominant winner Zoukina. Back to 1200m and firmer footing, keen on his prospects.

2 Carribean King (Bet Now: $8.50) is dangerous. Four weeks between runs since racing at Eagle Farm where he was near the speed throughout and battled on well enough behind a quality animal in Zuma California. His latest two runs at this track have come in strong form races, much stronger than what he faces here.

6 Poetic Choice (Bet Now: $41.00) is a sneaky knockout hope at odds. He ran over 1050m here two weeks back where he was back near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Five Oxford. Doubt he wins, but a first four threat.

Back to Mares grade and back a fair way in overall depth can see 4 Amity Gal (Bet Now: $3.30) bounce back in the winners list. She was a short priced favourite three weeks ago at Eagle Farm but her race was done after she bombed the start, and actually didn’t do a bad job after that. Clean jump, she’ll land on speed and has run well at 1200m previously.

2 Cossie (Bet Now: $13.00) is racing in career best form for John Wallace. She ran at this track a fortnight back when near the speed and battled on really well in defeat behind Five Oxford, finishing a close up third. Win start prior at Ipswich was strong, and I think 1200m will be fine.

8 Daring Belle (Bet Now: $11.00) is a sneaky chance at a big price. Ran over this track/distance two weeks back and while she was never a winning threat, she worked to the line pretty well late in the piece when third to the very much in form Extremist. If she can settle closer, she’ll be dangerous.

3 Enterprise Attack (Bet Now: $2.60) is hard to beat here for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Narrow second on debut at the Gold Coast before going to Eagle Farm where he was backed as if he was Winx 2.0 and despite a cute ride from Thornton, the class kicked in late and he was too good. He’ll have no issue with 1350m and is getting better with racing.

6 Clairvue Molly (Bet Now: $4.50) is finding it hard to win but I do think she is flying for Tony Gollan. Ran over 1200m here two weeks ago and worked home very strongly from off the speed, just missing out on the win when second to En Pointe. 1350m, I think, will be okay, and she will be strong late with a soft trip.

2 Larrikin Rouge (Bet Now: $3.50) should be fine at 1350m. Chris Anderson trained gelding that was outstanding when winning last Wednesday at Eagle Farm. He got back but saved ground on the fence, got the breaks and drove hard late to win. Off that, 1350m is fine and is a key threat.

3 Red Wave (Bet Now: $4.50) is racing in super form for Team Sears. Market wanted him a few weeks back and the ride from Ben Thompson, plus the weight swing, ended up being the difference, just getting the better of Otyrar in a driving finish. Ran a beauty in the Toowoomba Cup the start prior, he’s hard to beat.

8 Hillcrest Avenue (Bet Now: $6.00) is a progressive import for Stuart Kendrick that has done little wrong since arriving in Australia. Looked a good thing on paper last start at the Sunny Coast on the home deck and he won like a good thing, giving them an absolute spanking. 2/2 at the Sunny Coast but has been beaten both runs away from there, so keen to see how he goes here.

1 Traduce (Bet Now: $26.00) is on the seven day back up for Maryann Brosnan after racing at Eagle Farm last Saturday where he contested a pretty strong 90 and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Otyrar. Back to 75 grade, hard fit, I think his best is certainly good enough.

1 Without Revenge (Bet Now: $2.00) looks a promising animal for David Vandyke. Australian debut came on the home deck at the Sunny Coast where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted in a dominant display. Fitter and up to the mile, I think can only see upside with him. Keen.

3 Moktaffy (Bet Now: $5.50) deserves another chance. He ran at Eagle Farm a few weeks back where like most, I was keen on his chances, and after getting a suck run behind the speed, he loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish it off behind So Dapper. That was his first run in a few weeks so you’d think there is room for improvement and is hard to beat.

7 Daintree Diva (Bet Now: $51.00) is capable. Attempted to lead throughout on the Sunny Coast Poly last start and she tried hard but was quickly beaten off by the odds on pop. She stuck on well enough though to run second. I think with a more patient steer, she can run a much improved race.

4 Kinloch (Bet Now: $4.80) is hard to beat if he brings his best. On paper, he was plain last time in the Five Diamonds Prelude behind Ellsberg, but the race was run at barrier trial speed and nothing from the back could get involved, including this guy. Back to this level, surely he has to sit as one of the hardest to beat.

7 Rubamos (Bet Now: $5.00) can bounce back. Several weeks between runs since racing at Eagle Farm where he just got too far back in the run but was good late behind an in form Hot Spring Gold. Jimmy Orman back aboard and from gate one, he can get back into the winners list.

3 Guntantes (Bet Now: $15.00) is flying for Rob Heathcoate and he can certainly take this out. He was very good late when resuming at Eagle Farm behind Le Palmier. He then went here and was good in testing conditions behind Proper Rogue. Hard fit now and up to 1350m, he appeals big time.

4 Be Water My Friend (Bet Now: $4.40) seems a pretty sharp short course horse when he has fresh legs, firm ground and a genuine tempo to sit off. He gets all of that here. He was big odds at Toowoomba last time and sprouted wings late to win impressively. Good speed in front, he’ll be strong late and loves Doomben.

10 Fleet Dove (Bet Now: $6.00) is dangerous with her best. She resumes for Kelly Schweida, having not raced since September 3 here in the Tatts Members Cup where she was wide and doing work, tiring late behind Bonaparte. Good fresh horse and liked her trial here last week, so watch the market.

7 Starvirgo (Bet Now: $12.00) is a Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that resumes. He is a horse who is better as the prep goes on, but this is one of the easier races he has contested in some time. Two trials under the belt, watch the market, because he is dangerous when near right.

1 Ligulate (Bet Now: $20.00) is hard to beat with his best. He ran over the mile at Eagle Farm five weeks ago when back off the speed but stayed on and was good in defeat behind an in form Jetty. Fresh legs at the mile I find interesting, but he does have a touch of quality on his side.

4 Ulysses (Bet Now: $3.70) is flying for Tony Gollan. Lovely placement last start at this track/distance. Down in the weights, furthermore with the claim, got a cheap lead and that was the winning move in proving strong to the line. Firmer footing helps his cause and now he’s found winning form, he can go on with it.

2 Hail Manhattan (Bet Now: $14.00) is a big improver on a dry track. He found wet ground and a poor race shape two weeks back, so be totally forgiving of that effort behind Ulysses. The run prior behind Turn On The Charm was strong, so I think you have to give him another chance.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 1 Without Revenge

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 3 Hatchet

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 1 Ligulate
