Race 1. (18:00) Bivouac First Yearlings Hcp 1100m
I want to give 10 Voile (Bet Now: $SP.00) another look for James Cummings. She debuted in the Merson Cooper at Caulfield five weeks ago where she was very raw and new to the caper and just didn’t handle the occasion at all behind Eneeza. Returns to Sydney and her tick over trial was a lovely piece of work. Ear Muffs on to hopefully relax her, she looks a good type so I will give her another look.
3 Miss Piera (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. Bjorn Baker trained filly that debuted over 1000m at Warwick Farm where she landed on speed and gave a good sight but on testing ground, she was just found wanting late when second to Photographics. Firmer footing, good racing style, she’ll be hard to run down.
2 Aboveforty (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner. He was met with market support when debuting in the Warwick Farm race mentioned above and he just didn’t handle the wet track at all, struggling to pick his feet up in a total forgive behind Photographics. Firmer footing and with the Waller polish, I wouldn’t be penning him.
Race 2. (18:30) Kia Ora Prague Hcp 1100m
3 Fickle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a well bred Team Snowden trained filly that is on debut. She is by I Am Invincible out of the former talented mare Flippant so she is bred to be a good one and her trials indicate she has talent, with two trials this prep indicating a winning debut is in her realm. Watch the market and see what it does.
5 Setombe (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Harry Angel filly for James Cummings that is on debut. This girl won a recent trial at Warwick Farm where she seemingly moved very well and had something in the locker to win and win well in solid time. Tricky gate but I think she has talent, so watch the market and see what it does.
4 Giza (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a well bred daughter of Exosphere on debut for James Cummings. This filly has had two trials to get ready for start one, the latest seeing her run second to Warwick Farm where she seemed to move pretty well with something in hand. Maps to do no work, leading camp, she’s a market watch for sure.
Race 3. (19:00) Inglis Mdn Hcp 1100m
10 Yvette (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me. Maher/Eustace trained filly that debuted over this track/distance where she didn’t quite get the rub of the green in the straight and for mine, she should have gone close to winning when third to Chartwell. That horse ran well here on New Years Day so the form reads well and with a more positive ride, she’ll take beating.
9 Decisively (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a daughter of Extreme Choice for Chris Waller that resumes. This girl had a two run Winter prep to start her career, where each time she was okay without setting the world on fire. Should be better for the prep under the belt and with two trials under the belt, J Mac on, the intent is there for a first up assault so watch the market.
3 Triskelion (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on debut for Team Snowden. This guy has only had the one trial, which came over 900m at Rosehill where he seemingly moved well enough to my eye, finishing fourth but I think he had a bit to offer. Bred to appreciate further but maps to do no work and be strong at the end. Knockout hope.
Race 4. (19:30) Tab (Bm72) 1250m
2 Molly Nails (Bet Now: $SP.00) has plenty on these. Matty Dale trained mare that ran at Randwick just under two weeks ago where she got a fair way out of her ground but made up good headway in the straight when a close up fourth to Miss Hellfire. Good gate, J Mac on, gets run of the race, has the class/quality factor…she looks a good thing.
3 Look Only (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give cheek. She did that at this track/distance last time and she looked the winner for a long way but had no answers for the finale of Diamond Diesel. Good racing style and she becomes dangerous if this track is playing up/in. If that’s the case, she can win.
8 Mosht Up (Bet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t win out of turn but for exotics, she can be entertained. She ran at Beaumont Newcastle last time where she seemingly had the run of the race behind the speed but couldn’t quite get the win behind Lady Boss but keep in mind she was wide no cover and brave. Right down in the weights after the claim, she’s a firs four threat.
Race 5. (20:00) Ranvet (Bm72) 1900m
3 McGeehan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth an each way ticket for me. Team Cave trained gelding that caused somewhat of an upset when winning over the mile at Warwick Farm first up, lapping up the wet track and finished best for a strong win. You’d like to think with upside/improvement to come, ideal map, he only runs well, so I am surprised he is the price he is.
5 Monarchs Brae (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form for Chris Waller and has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat. He has won his past two, both over 1900m at Canterbury, leading throughout to win two back before being outside the speed last start and he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Not much harder here, so he commands respect.
11 Master Copy (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate firmer footing. John O’Shea trains this gelding, who finished down the track behind McGeehan in the race mentioned above from Warwick Farm, struggling to pick up on the wet ground. He is a dry track horse so should he get conditions to suit, he will run a much improved race.
Race 6. (20:30) James Squire (Bm64) 1550m
8 Mare Of Mt Buller (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks destined for better races and potentially could be an Oaks filly for later in the year. She resumed in a 1400m maiden where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late from near last to finish over the top for a big win. Fitter, up in trip and if the inside gate can be used to advantage, I think it’ll be a case of good luck beating her.
6 Bangetta (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kris Lees trained filly that comes to town off the back of a sharp win at Scone where she let down with a sharp turn of foot when asked by Gibbons and she gapped them late for quite a sharp win. That was 1400m so an extra 150m should be fine and if she gets luck from the gate, she’s a threat.
3 Crystal Waters (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Paul Murray trained mare that has raced at Warwick Farm her past couple, the latest being over the mile at Warwick Farm when back off the speed and kept on finding the line in a pretty good effort behind McGeehan. Not sure she wins, but she is a must for multiples.
Race 7. (21:00) Kia Evening Star (Bm72) 1550m
2 Glounthaune (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me each way. He had taken a while to find positive form this prep but he got it last start over this track/distance when a strong third to Enotis, sitting on speed and just failing to finish the race off. Gets Nash aboard, he’ll put the horse on speed despite the wide gate and be strong at the end. He’ll give a great sight I am sure.
4 The Big Short (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. This galloper has been okay in two runs this time in for Chris Waller, the latest coming at Randwick on Boxing Day when far from disgraced in defeat behind Monfelicity. Gets run of the race from the inside gate and with J Mac on, he is likeable.
6 Black Duke (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an honest animal for Con Karatkasanis that is rarely far away. That was the case at Randwick last Saturday where he was contesting a Midway. He got back in the run and was keen but found the line well enough I thought behind Miss Checkoni. Not a horse I could back to win but it wouldn’t shock if he greeted the judge first.
Race 8. (21:30) The Agency Real Estate (Bm72) 1100m
1 Oxford Vision (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a ripper for Kim Waugh and is an each way play in the get out. He ran over 1000m at Warwick Farm last time on testing ground and he tried his guts out but just wasn’t quite as dynamic on wet ground when fourth to Storm The Ramparts. Gets in well after the 3kg claim, maps ideally and on firmer footing, he’s worth an each way ticket.
12 Dakota Broom (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented mare for Chris Waller that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Aug 5 at Rosehill when producing somewhat of an end of prep run when off the speed and failed to make up any real headway behind Ivan’s Hero. Given a good break and her trial work to get ready has been more than encouraging.
7 Burning Crown (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. He is first up here, having not raced since March 31 at Muswellbrook when down the track in the Skellatar behind Ice In Vancouver. Good fresh horse and looks to have trialled up really well leading in so I think watch the market and see what it does.
