4/6/2016 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Belmont

Belmont will once again host WA racing this Saturday, with eight races to be run and won. The weather is fine, the track is good (3) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:49) : Subscribe To The Perth Racing Newsletter Plate 1200m:

Back Me: 12 Royal Missile (Bet Now: $3.00) is on debut for the Simon Miller yard off the back of a four length trial win here over 1000m last Monday. Stable have an outstanding record with two year olds, especially first starters, and this filly looks the goods in a pretty even juvenile race.
Big Danger: 1 Next Generation (Bet Now: $2.30) ran over 1000m here a fortnight back and produced a lovely turn of foot near the inside to grab the leader and dash clear late for a dominant win. He’s taken his time to break the maiden, but now he has done it, he can go right on with it.
Roughie: 5 Minus Looks (Bet Now: $15.00) is a gelding on debut for Steve Wolfe. This son of Demerit ran second in a 1000m trial here last Monday and the time was very sharp for the morning. Two trials prior were ordinary, but he was much better here, so watch the market.

Race Two (14:29) : Amelia Park Handicap 1200m:

Back Me: 8 Presentatie (Bet Now: $4.60) ran over this track/distance a couple of weeks back and closed off strongly from the back to run third to the above average three year old Vega Magic. Third up now, so she should be ready to show her best and she looks the one to beat.
Big Danger: 9 Puteri Jewel (Bet Now: $6.00) resumed over this track/distance last Wednesday where she attempted to lead all the way but just felt the pinch late when second to Ragnar’s Saga. She contested some very good races during the Summer Carnival, so the class is there, and she should be nearing peak fitness.
Roughie: 5 Delicate Miss (Bet Now: $21.00) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and stuck on okay late behind the well above average three year old Vega Magic. Much easier I suspect, and being third up now, she should be ready fitness wise.

Race Three (15:09) : Weddings At Ascot Handicap (72+) 2200m:

Back Me: 2 Star Exhibit (Bet Now: $2.25) is in super form at the moment for Adam Durrant, winning a stack of races, including one here a fortnight back where he sprouted wings from the back to get the job done. No reason why he can’t continue the winning form.
Big Danger: 5 Slick Talker (Bet Now: $5.00) ran second to Star Exhibit in that race mentioned above where he tried his guts out but just couldn’t hold out the finishing burst of that runner. Can he turn the tables? Not sure, but he stays all day and is a threat.
Roughie: 6 Drupa (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the back up from racing last Saturday over 2100m where he was backed at odds and nearly pinched the race but just had to run second to My Magic Miss. I like he is on the seven day back up and he should be around the mark somewhere.

Race Four (15:49) : Fasttrack To 2016/17 Membership Handicap (72+) 1600m:

Back Me: 5 Universal Law (Bet Now: $2.15) picks himself here. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and tried hard but couldn’t quite reel in Palace Intruder. I am confident he can turn the tables on that horse here and really, only bad luck will beat him.
Big Danger: 3 Galaxy Son (Bet Now: $17.00) ran fourth in that Palace Intruder race and his effort was alright from the back given the race was run to suit those near the speed. Firmer footing is what he is looking for and he does get nice weight relief.
Roughie: 10 Winza Moment (Bet Now: $15.00) ran at the midweeks here a tick over two weeks ago and stuck to the task quite gamely when running second to Le Schiller. Tumbles big time in weight here and maps very well. Knockout chance.

Race Five (16:29) : Kirin Megumi Handicap (1MW) 1600m:

Back Me: 13 Skylar Storm (Bet Now: $17.00) ran at the midweeks over 1400m here a tick over two weeks ago when working home strongly to run fourth to Two Tone Blonde. She will love the step up to the mile and she’s in the right stable.
Big Danger: 7 Source Of Survival (Bet Now: $18.00) ran over 1700m here last Wednesday when just failing to pick up Medom, beaten about a neck. Rise in grade won’t be an issue and he will be strong at the me of the mile.
Roughie: 1 Reverend John (Bet Now: $16.00) had been failing badly in town, so the stable dropped him to the provincials at Northam and the horse reacted with a gritty win. He was performing very well in the city this time last year, and now he’s had a confidence boost, he can go on with it.

Race Six (17:07) : Belmont Bonanza Handicap (1MW) 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Cool Passion (Bet Now: $2.00) is on the back up from racing last Saturday where he copped a bit too much pressure on speed and just felt the pinch late when third to King River. I don’t think the seven day back up will be an issue and he is clearly the best horse in the race.
Big Danger: 8 Bells Tower (Bet Now: $11.00) showed great toe to lead throughout and get the job done at Northam last start. Bit harder here, but he deserves a chance in town and will be out of trouble on speed.
Roughie: 3 Marchand (Bet Now: $10.00) ran over this track/distance at the midweeks a tick over three weeks back and tried hard when a close up third to Pop Hero. Rises to Saturday grade, but has proven himself at that level before, so he’s a chance.

Race Seven (17:45) : None Raceday Events Handicap (78+) 1000m:

Back Me: 2 Military Reign (Bet Now: $3.00) looks the way to go here. She has strung together two on the bounce, both at this track/distance, the latest coming a fortnight back. Draws to lead, and provided she doesn’t cop too much pressure, she’ll take some beating.
Big Danger: 8 Secret Nova (Bet Now: $6.50) ran second to that race Military Reign won a fortnight ago, sitting outside the speed and her fitness just gave way late. The trial win prior was sharp and she can turn the tables for sure now she is fitter.
Roughie: 11 Flying Time (Bet Now: $51.00) ran fourth in the same race and his effort was alright given he had the charmed run behind the tempo and stuck to the task pretty gamely. Draws to get a lovely sit near the speed and will be hard to hold out late.

Race Eight (18:25) : Tabtouch Handicap (72+) 1200m:

Back Me: Leaning towards 6 Vega Magic (Bet Now: $2.20) in what is the best race on the program. This talented three year old ran over this track/distance against his own age two weeks back and showed great fight to win with the big weight. Gets a lovely weight drop here, and despite taking on the older horses, he is one of the hardest to beat.
Big Danger: 11 Express Dancer (Bet Now: $5.50) ran over this track/distance two weeks back and closed off strongly from the back to run a close up third to Gigante. Speed should be on, which suits his racing pattern, and by the last race, the best ground should be out wide.
Roughie: 12 Grey Enigma (Bet Now: $10.00) is the knockout hope. He ran over this track/distance last Saturday and closed off well with the big weight behind King River. Tumbles in weight here, draws well, hard fit…I think he is a great chance.
