4/1/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Maroubra Mile day

Nine races will be run and won at Randwick on the Kensington track this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

4 Osamu (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) is on top for me. Chris Waller first starter that has had two trials this prep in readiness for start one. Loved the way he went through his gears to win the first trial, then trialled on Monday and it was pretty much a day out to stretch the legs for him. Gets the inside gate and J Mac, who rode in the first trial, is on for the debut.

5 Remorseless (Bet Now: $4.20 TOP ODDS) is a son of Written Tycoon for the Snowden camp that had specking at odds when resuming in the Wyong Magic Millions when near the speed and fighting on pretty well in defeat though well held when third to Farnan. Think he’ll come on from that and I think with a more conservative steer, he’ll be better off.

Interesting there has been specking for 12 Tudor Music (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS). Solid in defeat on debut at Newcastle before going to Scone where she was five wide on the turn over the 900m but really showed good change up speed when asked and was impressive in winning. Low weight and barrier one, with hard experience, could run a decent race at odds.

Hoping there is enough speed on in front to allow 10 Ave (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) to finish over the top. This Roman Emperor mare was very good here first up behind Worldly Pleasure before going to Bathurst and she just had no chance where she was in the run and actually did a good job to get as close as she did. Gets down to 50kg after the claim. Just hope there is enough speed on.

6 Jawwal (Bet Now: $4.00 TOP ODDS) is the map horse for sure here. Has been freshened up and gelded since his last run, which came at Orange when on speed and just getting beat by Sneak Preview, who of course came out and won a Highway next time. Nash should be positive from the gate and I think he’ll get a good run on speed, proving hard to beat.

11 Denmiss (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) isn’t the most reliable horse going around but she does try hard. Just has a poor racing pattern. Ran in a Highway at Randwick two weeks ago when back near last after a poor start and was never a winning hope after that but worked home strongly behind Greenspan. Extra 100m I like. Just hope she can settle that pair or two closer.

3 Geo (Bet Now: $4.50 TOP ODDS) is a beautifully bred cold for Kris Lees who still looks very raw and new to the caper but has ability. Looked in trouble when racing over 1250m here last time but Nash eventually got clear on him and he surged hard late to get the win out of the way. Like him up to 1300m, but will need to put it all together here because the depth is quite strong.

I think a rise to 1350m will suit 1 Discharged (Bet Now: $3.60 TOP ODDS), who has raced at 1200m in all three runs this time in, the latest coming in the 3&4YO Magic Millions at Wyong when fourth to Diamond Thunder where he was outclassed but far from disgraced. He either leads or sits outside Cock Match and that pair potentially control things.

It’s a big step up in grade/depth, but gee you had to be impressed by the debut win of 5 Thanks To You (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) at Kembla, sitting wide throughout on speed before taking the front in the straight and he dashed away for a sharp performance in solid time relative to the day. Stable is in a purple patch so keen to see how this bloke goes.

9 Invincible Kiss (Bet Now: $21.00 TOP ODDS), if she’s each way odds, is one of the better gambles on the card. Wayne Seelin has Isorich and he’s been a grand campaigner for the stable, but I reckon this mare will take over as the best one he’s trained recently. She’s flying and deserves a crack at Saturday company after an impressive purple patch. 1100m is the little query, but she gets the light weight and should park off a very good tempo.

Just how good is 2 Adelong? (Bet Now: $2.10 TOP ODDS) 3/3 to start her career for Brad Widdup, the latest coming at Randwick on Boxing Day over 1100m when leading and bolting up in an impressive showing of sustained speed from the front. Not sure what upside she has left for the prep, but just has to maintain her form to go close to winning.

7 Lashes (Bet Now: $3.10 TOP ODDS) is a daughter of I Am Invincible for the Matty Smith stable that resumes. This mare hasn’t raced since July 10 at Warwick Farm on a testing track when a battling third to impressive winner Black Magnum after starting as a $1.45 chance. Been given a good break…has got the ability to win. The two trials have been solid without jumping up and down.

Forgive a horse for one poor run. Didn’t do that with 6 Quality Seeker (Bet Now: $5.00) when he raced on the course proper here on Boxing Day and the end result was an impressive win, largely thanks to a 12/10 steer from Bowman. The run at this track the start prior was awful but if he brings his best, which was last time, he’s hard to beat against these.

3 Master Shuhood (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Chris Waller trained stayer who is going quite well without winning. Ran over 2000m at Randwick two weeks ago and didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight but at the same time, had his chance to win when fourth to impressive French import Vadiyann. Up to 2400m and back in depth are two big ticks.

If you like Quality Seeker, you certainly have to give respect to 11 Dance Away (Bet Now: $15.00). She ran sixth in that Boxing Day race and had no real luck at all in the straight with seemingly something to offer and should have finished closer. Gets right down in the weights in this harder assignment and the way she’s racing, a win here wouldn’t shock at all.

Can 6 Jen Rules (Bet Now: $4.60) go on with it? Time will tell, but her last couple of runs have been more than encouraging. No luck against the bias at Kembla two back before backing up a week later at Rosehill when getting to the right part of the track and finishing best to get the job done. Rather watch her put two on the bounce than back her and hope she does it.

9 He’s A Hot Shot (Bet Now: $3.60) is a Bjorn Baker trained gelding who has been excellent in two runs back from a spell. Was enormous in defeat first up at Newcastle behind Burning Crown before going to Randwick on Boxing Day and running a close up third to He’s Super Lucky. Was over a month between runs there so should take good improvement off that.

1 Star Reflection (Bet Now: $11.00) is one of the best placed horses in Australia today given she’s an 86 rater in a 78 race yet only has to carry 60kg and 2.5kg more than the next highest rater runner of 73 so weights wise, she’s just so well placed. Her form isn’t that great but clearly in much stronger races than this. If she can settle that little bit closer in the run she’ll take some beating.

Is 7 Roman Son (Bet Now: $7.00) back on track? Had trialled up pretty well for the Freedman camp prior to resuming over 1400m at Randwick a fortnight back and really liked the way he found the line off a moderate speed set by the eventual winner Passage Of Time. He’s a two time second up winner and off the resumption, he’ll take some beating here.

4 New Universe (Bet Now: $6.00) might need one more run, but he’s certainly got the ability to beat these. Resumed in the Passage Of Time race from two weeks ago at Randwick where he was near the speed throughout under Nash and tried hard, but couldn’t dash with them late and being fresh, he feeled the pinch late. Can be a big improver here.

Very interested in 1 Admire Robson (Bet Now: $16.00), a former Japanese galloper making his Australian debut for the Chris Waller team. His form over there suggests 2000m+ is when he’ll come into his own, but time and time again we see these Japanese horses measure up and run well in Australia. Trials suggest maybe not back him now, but he’s certainly one to watch.

4 Cinquedea (Bet Now: $4.20) has to be regarded as a leading chance. Month between runs when racing over 1400m at Randwick where he was wide throughout but despite that hard run, he stuck to the task and was pretty good in defeat behind Edison. You’d like to think he’ll take improvement off that and up to 1550m, he should prove hard to beat.

Looks a lovely race for the Chris Waller trained mare 3 Word For Word (Bet Now: $1.80). She’s been excellent and luckless in two runs back from a spell. No clear air first up at Rosehill before going to Randwick a fortnight ago where she got into a bumping match with Pumpkin Pie and while that was going on, Asharani had all the momentum out wide and was too good. Third up, at 1550m, she gets her chance to win.

10 Baanone (Bet Now: $15.00) is going super for Bjorn Baker and is a leading chance here. Ran over the mile at Randwick two weeks ago where he was back near last in an on pace dominated affair but found the line pretty well behind stablemate Spencer. If he can sit that pair or two closer in the run, he’s going to take some holding out.

If 6 November Man (Bet Now: $3.90) is ready to go, I think he’ll take some beating here because the set up is just perfect for him. He hasn’t raced since the final day of Cup Week down the Flemington straight where he was well back a flying Halvorsen. Tends to save his best for the Kensington track and with a stack of speed engaged, he can finish over the top if he’s ready.

3 Rare Episode (Bet Now: $4.00) finds a really winnable race here for Brad Widdup. His two runs back from a spell have been quite good but has wide trips each time and hasn’t finished off with purpose, the latest coming two weeks ago here behind Sophiella. Now has barrier two, can sit off what looks a fast speed and be strong late.

13 Patriot (Bet Now: $26.00) has been pretty good this prep for John Sprague without winning. Looked in need of the run fresh at Grafton before going to Kempsey where he was back in trip to 1000m and found the line pretty well with the big weight behind She’s Choosie. Fast run 1000m looks ideal for him and can win without surprising.

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 9 Invincible Kiss
