We got three legs up last Saturday, with the well backed favourites letting us down. The big6 on Wednesday for NSW punters is on races 3-8 at Canterbury with a $10,000 jackpot. Here is my $20 strategy.
Leg 1 – As always, a hard way to kick off the big6. All Serene looks to have ability and will appreciate a firmer track here. Eleuther is first up, but has trialled well leading up to this. Can’t go wrong backing the Darley juveniles. Rock This World has shown some talent in two recent barrier trials and is drawn well on debut. Room To Boom got back, peeled out very deep, but made up good ground late last start. He’ll be hard to hold out.
Leg 2 – Narrowed it down to four. Our Barney has looked good enough at his last two starts to suggest a win isn’t too far away. Thumbtacks is a pest to follow, but one day he will win again, so you have to stick with him. Velocity Gal is a track specialist and meets a weak field here. If she brings her best form here, she can win. New Beginning is a lovely type from Port Macquarie and he has really turned it on at his last two, winning both impressively. Has to step up here but he can win again.
Leg 3 – Cantonese is the only horse in this race that looks to have upside. Placed at Kembla on debut before stepping out on the Kensington track and weaving his way through to win. I can’t see anything threatening this horse and with normal luck, he’ll make it back to back wins.
Leg 4 – Very hard race to sort as there are horses in winning form, horses that have trialled well and horses that are knocking on the door to win. Put in United Harmony, Sunset Coast, Lough Rea, Longlea, Empress Milly, Isola, Forward Love and Radar.
Leg 5 – Mohtashem will appreciate a firmer surface and can fire for Nash. Laurel Canyon comes back to NSW after racing in Melbourne. That has to be respected. Ausbred Gold stuck on well last start and will get the sucker run from the barrier.
Leg 6 – From The Vault will appreciate a massive drop in grade. Look for him to bounce back. Lotus Flower should be cherry ripe after two runs back from the spell. Plaisance is another that will be fitter after two runs back and should be hard to beat. Hot Fox won well at Kembla last start and can certainly handle the rise back to city grade.
Leg 1: 1, 5, 10, 11
Leg 2: 6, 8, 9, 10
Leg 3: 2
Leg 4: 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12
Leg 5: 4, 8, 10
Leg 6: 1, 5, 8, 9
A $20 investment = 1.30% of the dividend if successful
