Tabcorp will launch its One Pool product on Friday as the wagering giant takes the first major step towards establishing a single Australian pari-mutuel wagering pool.
The launch follows several weeks of testing and will combine NSW TAB, SuperTAB and UniTAB pools across all Australian race meetings and pool types.
One Pool will initially operate without tote-derivative pools from other wagering operators, although Tabcorp remains intent on eventually integrating wholesale pari-mutuel wagering into the combined national pool.
The official launch comes ahead of Saturday’s Group 1 racing at Flemington and Randwick and represents the foundation of Tabcorp’s plans to further develop its tote offering.
Tabcorp chief wagering officer Michael Fitzsimons told The Straight the company viewed the project as a longer-term opportunity, with product and technology development expected to continue over the next 18 months.
“We don’t expect huge amounts of growth, but what we have done is create a platform that we can grow on,” he said.
