A bumper ten event program has been set down for Randwick this Saturday, headlined by the Epsom Handicap (1600m). The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:05) Midway Hcp (Bm72) 1800m
2 Doradus (Bet Now:Β $4.60) should prove hard to beat for John Thompson after an all the way win over 1900m at Canterbury, leading throughout, had front end control and gave nothing else a look in. Good racing style and this is a very winnable Midway.
7 Agita (Bet Now:Β $26.00) is sneaky flying for David Payne. He ran behind Barrengarry in the Midway a fortnight back but chased strongly and kept finding the line. He will love more ground and if within range, he’s got the finale to score.
5 Northern Eyes (Bet Now:Β $15.00) steps up to 1800m after racing over 1500m on Newcastle Cup Day, chasing the speed and tried hard but tired late. I think with a more patient steer, 1800m is fine and he can threaten.
Race 2. (12:40) Arrowfield Breeders' Plate (G3) 1000m
8 Nonu (Bet Now:Β $41.00) is a very interesting runner. Son of Anamoe that led throughout to win his trial, and while his time was slower vs Out Of Bounds, gee he moved well like a nice horse, much like his dad. He’s here to play and commands respect.
1 Capitano (Bet Now:Β $4.00) is a son of Bivouac for Michael Freedman. He ran second in his trial, sitting off speed and was ridden along but kept chasing and finding the line in a good effort. He is the one that I think sits off speed and launches late.
10 Stasis (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is a State Of Rest colt for GaiBott. He ran third to Out Of Bounds in a trial and while safely held, I thought he moved well enough. Should land near the front and acquit himself pretty well.
Race 3. (13:15) Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes (G3) 1000m
12 Shezablaze (Bet Now:Β $15.00) rates highly for me. Didn’t run any real time relative to the morning, but the way she moved was impressive, leading throughout and extended nicely to win the trial. Looks a typical Peter Snowden juvenile. Professional, well educated, ready to go.
2 Bourbon Beat (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is on debut for GaiBott. She ran second to She’s Supreme in a trial and while pushed out, she did respond well. Tricky draw but should press forward and be around the mark.
11 She’s Supreme (Bet Now:Β $18.00) ran one of the quicker times of the morning when winning her respective trial. She was pushed out by Jones but moved nicely and responded when asked for the effort. Keen to see how she goes.
Race 4. (13:50) Cornerstone Risk Group Dulcify Stakes (L) 1600m
5 Hozumi (Bet Now:Β $12.00) looks a nice three year old on the up for Chris Waller. I don’t think he beat a great deal at Illawarra Grange but the manner in which he gave them a start and a beating was quite impressive. Confident he can measure up.
1 Genesis Runner (Bet Now:Β $1.90) commands respect. He ran in the Ming Dynasty three weeks ago, getting back off speed but kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. He should love rising to 1600m, bigger track…think it all points to him running very well.
2 Savagram (Bet Now:Β $21.00) was down the track in the Ming Dynasty. He led and tried hard but copped some heat and tired late behind Persian Wonder. If he gets some form of front end control, I say he’s dangerous here.
Race 5. (14:25) United Resource Management Hcp (Bm94) 1600m
16 Unleeshing (Bet Now:Β $1.70) should take a power of beating. She ran second to Night Agent a fortnight back here, getting badly held up before getting clear and attacked the line with real purpose. Hard fit, 1600m, she’ll take a power of beating.
17 Soverato (Bet Now:Β $81.00) should appreciate getting to the mile after resuming over 1400m at the Gold Coast two weeks back. She was beaten for early speed and while she was never a winning threat, she kept chasing and was far from disgraced in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, she can run a much improved race.
I think 4 Palmetto (Bet Now:Β $126.00) is a great each way speck. He resumed two weeks ago in the Bill Ritchie where the race shape was against him, he was never a winning threat, but kept chasing and was a definite pass mark. Fitter, up in trip, he only runs well.
Race 6. (15:00) Darley Flight Stakes (G1) 1600m
3 Global Goal (Bet Now:Β $13.00) has looked the obvious for this race all prep and it’s hard to ignore her. Just found them a bit sharp in the Tea Rose two weeks ago but loved the way she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. She’ll love 1600m, she’s a clear top seed.
2 Striking Alibi (Bet Now:Β $18.00) is the clear threat to Global Goal IMO. Real eye catcher in the Furious and was good late from off speed in the Tea Rose. With a soft run, 1600m looks ideal and has the Waller polish in a Grand Final. Commands respect.
6 Sumac (Bet Now:Β $126.00) can run first four. She is still a maiden but is talented and didn’t disgrace herself in the Tea Rose behind Bangkok Hottie. Doubt she wins, but she’ll love 1600m and could pinch first four at a price.
Race 7. (15:35) Asahi Super Dry Metropolitan Hcp (G2) 2400m
5 Juja Kibo (Bet Now:Β $151.00) looks to be humming. He had several weeks off prior to running in the Kingston Town where he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat behind The Euphrates. He has good upside to come, well in at the weights and the rise to 2400m looks ideal.
7 Aethelwulf (Bet Now:Β $26.00)…I think he could easily win this and become the clear #1 seed for the locals on the first Tuesday in November. He beat camels in the Newcastle Cup, but he won with such arrogance, such ease, and did run the quickest Newcastle Cup in over 25 years, doing it without being fully extended. He’s a rocket and very keen to see how he goes.
1 The Euphrates (Bet Now:Β $4.00) has to be given serious respect after his win in the Kingston Town, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in. Should land near the front again and only run well I say.
Race 8. (16:10) Tab Epsom Hcp (G1) 1600m
4 Idle Flyer (Bet Now:Β $34.00) is humming for Matty Smith. Jury was out after the Tramway but I thought she ran super in the 7 Stakes, closing strongly when fourth to Autumn Glow. That is the A1 form and given her record, gee I think she’s really well in at the weights.
8 Attica (Bet Now:Β $8.50) looks to be ticking along beautifully. He was never really a winning threat given the race shape in the Tramway a few weeks ago but I loved the way he kept chasing and finding the line. Right down in the weights, he’ll run a beauty.
19 Mr Miller (Bet Now:Β $7.50) had clear excuses in the Cameron at Newcastle. He was tardy away and against the pattern, he really had no chance but I loved the way he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. If he jumps clean, can settle near the speed, he runs very well.
Race 9. (16:45) Precise Air Premiere Stakes (G2) 1200m
Have to be with 10 Tempted (Bet Now:Β $1.65). She produced electric change up speed to win the Concorde first up, smashing the clock in the process. Fresh is best for her, tick over trial was very good, she looks the one to beat, especially at WFA.
7 King’s Secret (Bet Now:Β $15.00) looks hard to beat here. He has had the two runs this time in, the latest in The Shorts where he was very good in defeat when close up behind stablemate Mazu. Getting towards peak fitness, ideal, he should run a beauty.
8 Grafterburners (Bet Now:Β $31.00) ran very well fresh in The Shorts. Race shape was against but I liked the way he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat behind Mazu. He should settle closer I suspect and he’ll be effective late.
Race 10. (17:25) Tab One Pool Hcp (Bm94) 1200m
If he can get luck from the gate, good luck beating 10 Platinum Pantheon (Bet Now:Β $26.00). I think he could be a legitimate Top 5 Golden Eagle prospect. He’s a rocket and his trials in NZ have been first class. Just needs luck from the draw and he’ll be too good.
13 Theblade (Bet Now:Β $4.40) is three weeks between runs since a first up romp at Rosehill, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Good test here but confident he can measure up.
7 Navy Pilot (Bet Now:Β $151.00) is several weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since resuming over this trip. He got back off speed but I liked the way he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Fitter, good upside to come, he rates highly.
