Night racing continues at Pakenham this Thursday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

6 Knobelas (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is short but she does look to have a bit on these. Price/Kent trained filly that debuted over 1400m here three weeks ago where she got off speed and kept finding the line in defeat when second to South Hoba. Fitter and up to 1600m, depth not overly deep…she should be winning.

5 Tassron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in three career outings and is one of the key threats if the fav is off her game. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat when second. He has that 1600m run under the belt and is hard fit.

4 Harrata (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth in the race mentioned above. He too was on debut and he also got back in the run. He didn’t have the flashing light of Knobelas but he did find the line well enough himself. Home track advantage and up to the mile, he’s in the mix.

1 Bayou Music (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat off the back of his debut at Mornington over 1200m when off speed and held up at times before eventually getting clear and found the line strongly when second to Morgana. Fitter, 1400m, it points to him.

2 Caelius (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat after a third over this track/distance three weeks ago. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. He has that 1400m run under the belt, whcih should hold him in good stead.

6 Bella Pietra (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in two career outings, placing each time. Latest came over 1200m at Donald when leading and giving a decent kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Diamond Gust. Good racing style, she’s a must for exotics.

3 Split (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at a price. He ran at Ballarat on Sunday where he was tailed off last, not pulling up 100%. The fact he backs up so soon after that flop is highly unusual for this stable, so he must have pleased them yesterday and Tuesday to back up. He’ll be strong late and this is a thin race.

4 Tewkesbury (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an honest campaigner but gee he finds it hard to win. He hasn’t raced since May 14 at Bendigo over 2200m when wide no cover throughout but despite the hard run he loomed, only getting nabbed late. Tick over jumps trial was sharp and hopefully that will sharpen him up for this.

1 Inthelapofthegods (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will land on speed and look to give his all, as seen over 2400m at Moe last time when leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score.

9 Yolo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in what looks a two horse race. Ciaron Maher trained colt that resumes, having not raced since Feb 28 at Canterbury when far from disgraced in defeat behind Strada Varenna. Given a good break, has trialled/jumped out well to my eye and he does have the runs on the board to say he’s hard to beat.

1 Animal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since a debut over this track/distance when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Egerton. Tick over jumpout was strong, he can settle closer and be effective late.

4 Mr Nunez (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of All Too Hard that is first up for Robbie Laing. He hasn’t raced since Jan 18 at Cranbourne when down the track behind Jenni The Fox, who of course went on to be Stakes placed, so the form reads well, and his jumpout work has been encouraging.

I am convinced that 7 Stage N Screen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a good horse so keen to see how she goes at this level. She comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since April 26 at The Valley when striking a bog track and she couldn’t pick her feet up late in the piece behind Harry’s Yacht. Back a mile in depth, firmer deck…if indeed she is going to be city class, she has to be winning this.

1 Alero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a leading contender for Ciaron Maher off hte back of a first up win at Caulfield Heath when on speed throughout and trucking before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. He should press forward and with upside/improvement, rates highly.

2 Immortal Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for Danny O’Brien since racing over 1200m at Mornington where she tried hard but just lacked the killer blow to go with them late behind Bridal Waltz. Back to this level, her best is clearly good enough.

4 Thunder Award (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a good thing for mine. Kennewell/Yeomans trained gelding that resumed over this trip at Caulfield Heath where he got a fair way out of his ground but loved the way he closed his race off in defeat behind Tango Jewel. Good record at Pakenham, maps perfect, keen on his prospects.

12 Bedtime Angel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong this time in and has to be respected. Her latest run was over 1100m here a fortnight back. She was near the speed and loomed to win but just found one better in Sioux Spirit. 1200m is fine and with a patient steer, I think she’ll be more effective.

6 Preservator (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after resuming over 1100m here last Thursday night. He was on speed throughout and tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Back To The Future. Fitter, up in trip, likes Pakenham, knockout hope.

4 Scampi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hit and miss but if he brings his best, I think he wins. He ran fifth at Caulfield last start, landing on speed and he tried hard but just felt the pinch late behind Landmark. Back miles in depth, good racing style and quality wise, he’s the best in the race by some distance.

3 Subsix (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Kennewell/Yeomans trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Nov 15 over the 955m at The Valley when down the track behind Projeto. He has looked strong in a couple of jumpouts leading in, watch betting.

8 I Miss Margie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with her best. She did a bit too much work on speed at Cranbourne last time and that early burn just told on her late in the piece behind Cheerstothat. I think with a more economical run in transit, her best is good enough.

7 Turf Two (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will do me each way in the get out. Team Payne trained mare that resumed over 1300m at Cranbourne where she got back in the run and nearer the inside. Got held up at times but was clear late and worked home quite well. Fitter, bigger track, strong late, upside, she appeals.

12 Littlebirdie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) doesn’t have the greatest of overall records but she is an honest mare that chips away. She ran over 1300m at Cranbourne where she got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but just lacked the killer finale behind Trial By Press. That was her first run in five weeks so with upside/improvement, she rates highly.

1 Noble Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Carly Thomas trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since July 27 last year at Morphettville when placing over the mile, albeit beaten over six lengths. First run for the stable and his jumpout work has been encouraging so watch betting.

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 4 Scampi

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 7 Turf Two
