Nine races will be run and won at Morphettville on Saturday where it is City Of Marion Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:06) Adelaide Galvanising Plate 1050m
Keen to see 5 Bleriot (Bet Now:Β $7.50) debut for the Will Clarken team. Run off her legs in the public trial behind Brazen Boy, but in two subsequent jumpouts, she has caught the eye and really impressed me the way she has gone about her business. Gets run of the race from gate one, Blinkers on…looks to be real intent.
Big watch on 2 Jimmys Edge (Bet Now:Β $5.50), a Gordon Richards trained gelding that is on debut. He’s had two jumpouts here to get ready for start one, the latest seeing him win last Tuesday and he was one of the better performer gallopers of the jumpout session. Stable can get a young one to fire early so watch the market.
9 Witness Greatness (Bet Now:Β $16.00) probably lacks the ability of some of these but one thing she does have in her corner is hard race fitness and experience. Ran on the Parks track last time out and was well held by Gulf Of Suez but kept kicking on and was game in defeat. Couldn’t back her to win but one for multiples.
Race 2. (13:41) Tab (bm82) 2500m
2 More Than Ever (Bet Now:Β $3.00) has been a bit costly in recent times for the McEvoy camp and punters but he gets his chance to break the run of outs. He was six or so weeks between runs when racing on the Parks track a fortnight ago. Just lacked the hard race fitness to try and wear down Andrea Mantegna, but was good in defeat in third. Got upside to come and up to 2500m on the big track, he’s the one to beat.
3 Charossa (Bet Now:Β $4.20) is knocking on the door to win one. Looked like it would come on the Parks track two weeks ago when well backed. He was there to beat Andrea Mantegna but he’s such a tough horse to get past and had it too good on speed, fighting on strongly to win. Going well Charossa and is ready to win one.
What a grand horse 6 Flow Meter (Bet Now:Β $19.00) has been. He raises the bat for the third time in his career, with this being start 150. His winning days in town are probably behind him, but he does try his heart out every time he steps out and will just keep batting away. Couldn’t back him to win, but one for multiples.
Race 3. (14:16) Soul Growers (bm66) 1100m
Like 7 Siyaadeh (Bet Now:Β $4.60) here. Team McEvoy trained filly that was somewhat disappointing when she debuted on the Parks track here, but the form out of that maiden has been quite strong. She went to a Gawler maiden on Oaks Day and was much too good for her rivals in a dominant display. Think the form around her is good and she’s got plenty of room for improvement.
1 Alleboom (Bet Now:Β $2.10) looks the key threat. Team Jolly trained three year old that had excuses two back at Morphettville over 1200m before coming back to 1000m on Cup Day when near a slow speed and in a real dash home, he finished best. Back home and up to 1100m with the claim, he’s very likeable here.
8 Baraconi (Bet Now:Β $13.00) has the lightweight and you’d suspect from the inside gate she’ll hold a forward spot, either leading or box seating behind Alleboom. Didn’t beat much last time out at Strathalbyn but was impressive in the way she put them away. Hasn’t got the class of some of these, but the map looks ideal for her.
Race 4. (14:51) Twilight Races At Morp. (bm72) 1600m
5 Divanation (Bet Now:Β $4.40) will be better suited over further, but she has a touch of quality about her and I think she can resume a winner for the McEvoy team. Hasn’t raced since resuming at Flemington in late September over the mile when wide no cover for the trip in a total forgive run behind Wetakemanhattan. Hard to beat off what looked a sharp trial win.
7 Pearl Bandit (Bet Now:Β $3.90) is bursting to win a race for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Fair play to him, he tried to pour the pressure on Ritratto two weeks ago in a field of three, but Ritratto is a very good horse, and a real fighter. Pearl Bandit tried, but Ritratto was much too good. Better suited here Pearl Bandit and is deserving of a win.
3 Roselli Sting (Bet Now:Β $10.00) has been solid in two runs back from a break. Resumed with a closing third to the in form Kenyan Wonder before taking on two rivals last time out and in a real sit/sprint, he couldn’t go with them when last of the trio behind Ritratto and Pearl Bandit. Tempo should be more genuine this time around and he can bounce back.
Race 5. (15:31) Furphy (bm58) 1800m
The Blinkers First Time gear change is one of the most important to take note of and it was that gear change that sparked 5 African Awesome (Bet Now:Β $8.00) into action at Murray Bridge last time out. Back, wide with cover, but looked to travel sweetly before being clicked up by Stubby and she drove hard late to get the win. That was 1400m and off that, I think 1800m here will be fine.
2 Serious Spender (Bet Now:Β $3.30) looks one of the hardest to beat. Stablemate of the top tip that ran two weeks ago here on the Parks track where he got a fair way back in the run but took forever to wind up into his work. Got going and surged to run a close up fifth. He’s going well and is suited at this level. Leading contender.
8 Back Pocket (Bet Now:Β $8.00) is a very tough horse to follow with confidence but his last start effort has him in the mix here. Ran over 1950m on the Parks track when just off the speed throughout under Jeff Maund and looked to travel well. Hit a flat spot when asked to go but picked up and surged late to just miss out on picking up City Beats. Winning threat for sure.
Race 6. (16:11) Accolade Wines (bm58) 1100m
Happy to butter up with 12 Four Of A Kind (Bet Now:Β $4.00) for Phillip Stokes. Resumed over 1000m two weeks ago on the Parks track where she was chasing a very fast speed and tried hard, but that early burn of chasing just told late when second, a well held second, to The Raven. You’d like to think that run will bring her on for this.
6 Two Odd Sox (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is very well placed back to a 58. He has contested much stronger races in recent times, the latest coming two weeks ago on the Parks track behind Tullys Gold over 1200m. I see him more a short course horse so back to 1100m is a tick, back to a 58 is a tick and the speed on in front should give him every chance to finish over the top.
7 Deevine (Bet Now:Β $14.00) should be thereabouts. Ran in a similar race a fortnight ago here where Vorster had him in the A1 spot just behind the speed and battled away well enough in defeat behind Kissable Eight. He has got the ability to win this, but is another that is on a little run of outs, so needs a confidence boost and this race presents as an opportunity.
Race 7. (16:51) Roadside Servs. City Of Marion 1200m
6 Debt Collector (Bet Now:Β $15.00) has been a ripper for Stuart Padman and sometimes has been a bit unfairly rated. He has won 6 of 26 with 13 minor placings, and with a dash of luck could have won a few more. Resumed a couple of weeks back when a game second to Kenyan Wonder. Got improvement to come and rates highly.
10 One More Jack (Bet Now:Β $3.90) is three weeks between runs for Shane Oxlade since running down the straight at Flemington on Cup Day where he found the class probably a bit rich but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Exhilarates. Returns back home, should land near the speed here and he does have a fab record on this track.
The best version of 1 Savatoxl (Bet Now:Β $8.00) is certainly capable of measuring up to this level. He let me down badly on Cup Day at Flemington but came back to 1250m on the Parks track and although he had the track pattern in his corner, he was still impressive in winning. Good test here, but now he has a win on the board, he can go on with it.
Race 8. (17:31) Peter Elberg Funerals (bm64) 1600m
Keen on 6 Cashin’ Chex (Bet Now:Β $5.50). He looks a very progressive galloper for Kristi Evans who comes here off the back of a dominant maiden win on Cup Day at this track/distance, spanking a somewhat average bunch but it was the way in which he rounded them up and put them away which impressed me. He’s heading in the right direction and can take this out.
3 Li’l Hank (Bet Now:Β $5.50) is a leading chance. Jordan Frew has done a super job with this guy and he’s holding his form really well. Was a month between runs and back to 1400m from the mile when racing on the Parks track two weeks ago and closed off strongly against the pattern when second to Masterati. Back up to the mile, fitter, hard to beat.
8 Rapid Raiser (Bet Now:Β $9.00) has been up forever it seems for Jake Stephens but is continuing to race at a decent level. He ran on the Parks track last time out and seemed to have his chance but was far from disgraced in defeat when third to Journica in a blanket finish. Been up a while but is holding his form and finds another winnable race.
Race 9. (18:07) Winning Edge Presentation-bm68 1200m
1 Tullys Gold (Bet Now:Β $3.10) is in a real purple patch at the moment for Ryan Balfour and I think he can win again. Admittedly had the suck run behind the speed two weeks ago but still had to take advantage and that he did, drawing clear late when asked for the big effort by Pannell and he was impressive. Harder here, but like the way he’s going about it.
6 Aten (Bet Now:Β $3.70) is a daughter of Fighting Sun for Team McEvoy that resumes. This girl last raced on May 9 during the Carnival when working home okay from the back behind Be My Star in a race where the form out if it has been red hot. Liked the Murray Bridge trial effort and she’s a mare who tends to race best with fresh legs.
10 Maid In Milan (Bet Now:Β $14.00) is four weeks between runs for Kristi Evans since racing at this track/distance when sitting just off the speed and trying hard, but couldn’t quite get there and had to settle for a third to Gougers. Like her with fresh legs with the break between runs and do feel that she’s a knockout chance.
