Randwick will play host to a ten race card on Saturday. Weather forecast is for showers, track is soft (5) and the rail is out eleven metres from the 1600m-1000m; Out twelve metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out eight metres for the remainder.

Race 1. (11:20) Ranvet Hcp 1100m
1 Tarpaulin (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. James Cummings trained colt that was a sharp winner at Warwick Farm last time when on speed throughout before being clicked up and away he went to win and win quite well. Maps to get a perfect run, he’ll be strong late, gets J Mac…looks the winner.
8 Qatars Choice (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a well bred filly for Ciaron Maher that is on debut. This girl has had extensive trial work in readiness for start one, dating back to January. Her latest trial was a win at Warwick Farm and moved quite well when winning. Maps to either lead, stalk the speed, and in a good camp, rates highly.
7 Pride To Follow (Bet Now: $SP.00) is unbeaten in two career outings for Brett Cavanough and she could be a filly that could put her head up for a Kosciuszko berth. This girl has won 2/2, winning on debut at Scone before a dominant win at Muswellbrook when on speed and found plenty under pressure to get the win. If she can stretch her brilliance to 1100m, they’re cooking with gas.
Race 2. (11:55) Tab Highway Plate (C3) 1800m
7 Agirlsbestfriend (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard fit now and she has talent. She ran over the mile at Doomben two weeks ago where she got too far out of her ground but she make up solid ground late in the piece and was quite good in defeat behind Cunnamulla Fella. Like her up in trip and she can settle closer in the run if need be.
2 County Kilkenny (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done a really good job this time in for Tim Donnelly and rates highly. He hasn’t raced since June 29 when contesting a Highway at Rosehill when second to impressive winner Toes In The Water. He has been kept on ice with this race in mind and he does give the vibe of loving the rise to 1800m.
8 Amarantz (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous if she can settle closer in the run. She ran in the Cranky Harry Midway from two weeks back here. She got too far back and although she did make up minor headway, she was never really threatening. She can settle much closer in the run and the depth here is nowhere near as deep IMO.
Race 3. (12:30) Midway (Bm72) 1600m
3 Green Shadows (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to do something for Ryan/Alexiou. He has been thereabouts, with excuses, but his run last Wednesday on the Kenso was very good, closing off nicely from behind the speed behind Little Cointreau. Back to Midway grade, maps perfect, gets J Mac…easily likeable.
2 Dr Evil (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Midway specialist that rates highly against these. This guy ran a very narrow second to Charming Legend a fortnight back here, driving hard late and in a blanket finish, just missed out on the win. He’s ready to win again and seemingly strikes a very winnable race.
Race 4. (13:05) James Squire (Bm78) 1800m
If 1800m is okay, then 2 Defining (Bet Now: $SP.00) will take beating for Annabel Neasham. She was an outstanding winner two weeks ago over 1400m here given she was wide no cover but she spanked them late and was dynamic the way she ran to/through the line. 1800m looks fine and if there is petrol in the tank, she takes beating.
5 Mascaret (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver here for Chris Waller. She was five weeks between runs when racing here two weeks back behind Defining. She got back in the run and made up some ground but was never really a factor. Much better set up this time around and I don’t think this is an overly deep contest.
Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 6 Monfelicity (Bet Now: $SP.00). David Payne trained mare that resumed behind Defining a fortnight back where she got off the speed and while she was never threatening, she found the line and was a definite pass mark in defeat fresh. Might need another run, but she has enough quality to figure in the finish.
Race 5. (13:40) Tab (Bm72) 1100m
1 World Alliance (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. Ripper for Matty Smith that is 2/2 this time in, winning fresh at Hawkesbury before giving them a beating at the midweeks at Warwick Farm where he got better as the race went on. He’ll love the rise to 1100m and despite the rise to Saturday metro grade, I am confident he can measure up.
13 Joiselle (Bet Now: $SP.00) can put her hands up for The Kosciuszko with a win here. 3/3 to start her career for Brett Cavanough, the latest being a first up win over 1100m at Scone where she lapped up the wet track and gave her rivals a spanking in such an impressive return. Has to do it against big boys/girls but she could well be a beauty. Keen to see how she goes.
14 Euros (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Joe Pride trained filly that comes through the World Alliance race at Warwick Farm where she just got held up at times and wasn’t quite able to pick up late in the piece. Hard fit, good record at Randwick, I am not penning her.
Race 6. (14:15) Drinkwise Mile (Bm88) 1600m
2 Tijuana (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to break a very long run of outs. He is a nice horse for Team Hayes that ran two weeks ago over 1400m here when just off the speed and kept finding the line in a good effort behind the in form War Eternal. Like him up in trip and if this track can dry out, gee he’s dangerous and hard to beat.
3 Ha Ha Ha… (Bet Now: $SP.00) have they figured out the key to her? Few runs since arriving from Ireland, the latest being a fortnight back where they rode her cold and the end result was giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. If she runs up to that effort here, gee she’s going to take beating.
1 Galeron (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a threat for sure. He ran behind Munhamek three weeks back in the Winter Championship Final. He got back to near last in the run and worked home with real purpose in a good effort in defeat. He’s sneaky flying this horse and with luck in running, he can win for sure.
Race 7. (14:50) Kia Ora Prague (Bm88) 1100m
4 Fleetwood (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the winner. He was dynamic in Sydney to start the prep before a two run prep in Melbourne, where he should have won at Caulfield but bombed the start before a strong third in the Creswick Final. If there is petrol left in the tank, I think he wins and wins well.
2 Shezanalister (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a ripper for Bjorn Baker. She comes here off a first up win at this track/distance when near the speed and knuckled down with purpose late to just get there. Good improvement to come, very genuine mare and she does seem suited at the short course. Rates highly for mine.
1 Bubba’s Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality mare for Kris Lees that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since April 6 at Eagle Farm when making it three on the bounce when a strong winner over 1200m. Like her at 1100m fresh and with a couple of strong trials under the belt, she’s ready to go. Watch the market.
Race 8. (15:30) Atc Thank You Trainers (Bm72) 1300m
4 Kerguelen (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks very good. As to what level he can reach…who knows. His win at Warwick Farm last time was just so damn arrogant and yes, he didn’t beat much but it was pretty much a barrier trial for him. Now steps up to Saturday grade but a win here and I reckon the stable can start thinking of better races in the future. Confident he will win.
1 Vivy Air (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the more fascinating runners on the card. Formerly with Archie Alexander, she now finds herself with Ciaron Maher. This filly is Stakes class at her best so keen to see what Maher can do with her. She is better suited over slightly further but 1300m fresh tells me there is some form of intent. Watch betting and see what it does but on form, she’s hard to beat.
7 Invader Zim (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for Chris Waller since resuming at this track/distance when just off the speed and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get the win when a narrow second to Patchouli Dream. Fitter, strong late…doubt he wins, but a must for multiples.
Race 9. (16:10) Atc Thank You Owners (Bm78) 1800m
11 The Englishman (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am going. Team Snowden trained gelding that ran at this track/distance two weeks ago when just off the speed and chased with purpose but had to settle for a second to Don Diego Vega. He’s nearing peak fitness, he maps perfect, down in the weights and this isn’t a deep race.
9 King Of Florida (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look for Chris Waller. Aussie debut came over 1400m at Rosehill a few weeks back where he just got too far back in the run and was wide, so forgive and forget behind Elouyou. Fitter and up in trip, I do think he’s an improver and had trialled well leading in, plus trialled well on Tuesday.
6 Promitto (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here where he wasn’t 100% happy on the bog and couldn’t dash when asked behind Rhapsody Chic. He has run well at the track/distance before and does have class so I am not dismissing him here.
Race 10. (16:45) Atc Thank You Stable Staff (Bm78) 1300m
10 Sequestered (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality mare for James Cummings that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Champions Day at Flemington in the Spring when back and failing to make up any real headway behind Watadeel. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and I have liked her trials in readiness for her return. Keen to see how she goes.
6 Little Cointreau (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Joe Pride and I think has to be respected as one of the key chances. He won last Wednesday on the Kenso when given a 12/10 by Nash and in a driving go, he was too good in a tight finish. That was 1400m and I do think back to 1300m, he is one of the hardest to beat.
Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 2 Soami (Bet Now: $SP.00). He resumed two weeks back over 1000m here where he got back out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he was solid enough behind South Of India on a shifty track. On a firmer deck, I think he can run a much improved race.
