Race 1. (13:13) Coastline BMW 1 Handicap 1600m
1 Shamedy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another chance for Graeme Green. On paper, I thought he was very disappointed with his effort last week at Rockhampton, but when the leader/winner is running 32.8 for his last 600m, nothing was beating it, including Shamedy. Fitter and up in trip, more genuine tempo, he’ll take beating.
5 My Spy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks an improver for Team Sears. He was a few weeks between runs when winning his maiden over 1350m at Ipswich, giving them a start and a beating, proving quite strong to the line in winning. Good upside to come and overall, this isn’t a deep race.
6 The Little Sparrow (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is in with a shout for Billy Healey. Just found them too sharp fresh over 1200m at Doomben before going to 1350m at Warwick where she found a moderate maiden and made an absolute mess of them in a dominant display. Good upside to come and has home track advantage, so don’t pen her.
Race 2. (13:48) Coastline BMW iX1 Handicap 1000m
1 Lead Me On (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) seems the straight bat option for Chris Anderson. He debuted two weeks ago at the Gold Coast, taking out the Boys division of The Debut, where he was on speed throughout and kicked on strongly to win despite being challenged in the straight. He only has to run up to that effort here and he’s the likely winner.
8 Pride Of Venus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Pride Of Dubai filly for Billy Healey that is on debut. She’s had a couple of trials this prep to get ready for start one and each time, she has looked pretty good, the latest coming a couple of weeks back here when placing and moving well. Trained on the track, watch the market.
4 Mishani Burn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Les Ross. He was solid enough on debut at Ipswich before going to the Gold Nugget at the Gold Coast where he was a big price and ran accordingly when down the track behind Spywire. This looks more his level and third up, he should know what the caper is about now.
Race 3. (14:23) Coastline BMW iX2 Plate (Class 3) 1000m
7 Party Spirit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks suited back in trip at this level. 1200m was a bridge too far for her in the Magic Millions Country Cup last time, trying her guts out but she just didn’t quite finish it off behind Zoumeteor. Back to 1000m and hard fit, good form lines around her, she appears to be one of the leading contenders.
6 Island Magic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but he will be strong late, especially if he can settle closer. She ran over 1110m at Doomben last time where she got a bit too far out of her ground but she was solid late in the piece behind Tikka Ready. Good room for improvement and I reckon in a fast run 1000m, she’ll get her chance to finish over the top.
10 Dirty Dancing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying this time in for Gillian Heinrich and commands respect. 2/2 this time in, both at this track/distance where each time she has settled off the speed and come with a well timed run to score. More depth here, but hard to knock the way she’s racing and for mine is a knockout hope.
Race 4. (14:58) Coastline BMW iX Handicap (78) 1600m
14 Too Much Class (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Jack Bruce. She ran at Murwillumbah last time where I felt Looker just waited a bit too long to push the button and I reckon it was the difference between winning and losing when second to Dorset Coast. Hard fit now and up in trip, she clearly appeals for mine.
1 Solar Apex (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has an element of class on his side and that will carry him a long way towards victory. Jack Bruce trained gelding that resumed over 1350m at Doomben when just off the speed and although he lacked change up speed, he kept finding the line and was pretty good late behind the in form Hollywood North. Fitter and up in trip, he looks hard to beat.
10 Winston Smurfhill (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can run an improved race on the home track. Forgive and forget last start at Eagle Farm where he bucked shortly after jumping. Two trials since have been solid and prior efforts suggested he could run a very positive race in an event like this.
Race 5. (15:33) Coastline BMW XM Handicap 1000m
2 Bossed Up (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is suited back to this level. Tony Gollan trained youngster that was thrown in the deep end in The Syndicate at the Gold Coast and while he was safely held, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Derry Grove. This looks more his go so if there is petrol left in the tank, he has to rate as one of the leading contenders.
6 Highbar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is five weeks between runs for Josh King since resuming at Eagle Farm where he led and gave a strong kick but being first up, condition just gave way late in the piece when third to Bossed Up. I reckon with a more patient steer, a bunny to chase, he’ll be far more effective IMO. Hard to beat.
8 Lady Invader (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is unbeaten in two career outings. Lindsay Hatch trained filly that is 2/2, both wins coming over 800m at Ipswich where she has been quite sharp in winning each time. Good test here up in trip/depth/grade, but with the claim and racing style, she will be in with a shout.
Race 6. (16:12) Coastline BMW X2 Handicap 1000m
5 Golden Boom (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a 1000m horse and he comes back to the trip here after resuming over 1100m at the Gold Coast in the Magic Millions Syndicate where he was near the speed throughout and tried his guts out but 1100m saw him out when third to Derry Grove. Fitter, back to his pet trip, back in grade/depth…keen on his prospects.
8 Jemeldi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks suited back to this level and this trip. Thrown in the deep end two weeks back in the Magic Millions Syndicate and while he was safely held, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Derry Grove, beaten just under five lengths. Good track/distance stats and for mine, is a knockout chance.
4 Winside (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here several weeks between runs for Damien Batters since racing at this track/distance when backed with confidence and after a positive ride, she looked the winner for a few strides, but she couldn’t quite see it through when third to Reliable Ruby. Good track/distance record and with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.
Race 7. (16:52) Coastline BMW X3 Handicap (85) 1800m
6 Tony Be (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has run well in Queensland previously and third up from a spell, he should be at peak fitness. He ran over this trip at Rosehill a fortnight back where he got back in the run and although he made up headway, he was never really a threat behind stablemate Louisville, who would be odds on against these. Good upside, Waller polish, he appeals.
3 Aussie Nugget (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. He ran four weeks back at Doomben in the Eaglemont race where he pulled up post race with respiratory noises, so he had a clear excuse for the below average run. The run prior at Eagle Farm was very good and he was looking a coming winner, so I think you have to give him another look.
4 Star Of Michelin (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps in including. Stuart Kendrick trains this gelding, who does save his best for big tracks, notably here being a three time winner. He was six weeks between runs when racing over the mile here three weeks ago where he was tardy away and that pretty much sealed his fate but he was solid in the run to the line. Fitter and up in trip, I think he’ll run a positive race at a price.
Race 8. (17:32) Sunshine Coast Cup 1400m
1 Master Jamie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks an each way bet. Graeme Green trained veteran that is so honest, as seen in the King Of The Mountain at Toowoomba where he kept chasing in a very good effort behind Rothfire. He’s had two runs at 1200m for the prep. Now at 1400m, hard fit, bigger track, I think he only runs well against these.
3 Kinloch (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is extremely hard to beat for Kris Lees. He resumed with a bang when giving them a start and a beating to win at Randwick three weeks ago, launching over the top for a massive win first up. That was 1200m so fitter and up to 1400m, enormous upside to come, I think it all points to him running a beauty.
8 Wapiti (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m. Gary Duncan trained gelding that resumed two weeks back at the Gold Coast in the Magic Millions QTIS where he got back to near last in the run and was never really a factor when down the track behind Boom Torque. He does have a good record on the home deck and although he’ll spot them a start, he should be strong at the end.
Race 9. (18:10) Coastline BMW 3 Handicap (Class 6) 1200m
10 Renouf (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) saves her best for the Sunny Coast and looks to be sneaky flying. Latest run was a fortnight back over 1100m at Ipswich where she got back to near last in the run and was good late without threatening behind Win Burn, her first run in three weeks. Like her back to the Sunny Coast and up in trip, I think she only runs well.
1 Hatchet (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Rob Heathcoate. Resumed with a bang when winning at Doomben before going to the Magic Millions QTIS where he tried hard, as he always does, but just didn’t have the quality to go with them late behind Boom Torque. Hard fit, back to 1200m and he’s very genuine. Leading chance.
9 Zoumeteor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing in a purple patch for Stuart Kendrick and appeals against these. This guy produced sustained speed from the front to take out the Magic Millions Country Cup at the Gold Coast, running very fast time in the process. There is depth to this line up, but he’s flying, he’ll be on speed and proving hard to get past.
Race 10. (18:50) Coastline BMW 4 Handicap (68) 1400m
2 Zhuang Shi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a fab bet here for local trainer Stuart Kendrick, who rarely misfires on his home track. This guy ran in the Magic Millions Country Cup two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and was never a winning threat but his finale was more than eye catching behind Zoumeteor. Back up in trip, home track advantage…extremely hard to beat.
12 Charlie’s Case (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has home track advantage and comes here off a win. That win came at this track/distance in a moderate race where he made a mess of them, sitting wide in the run and did a bit wrong but when clicked up, away he went and was too good. Saves his best for the Sunny Coast so with that in mind, he commands respect.
Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 14 Cosmic Gossip (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). Lindsay Hatch trained mare that resumed over 1100m at Ipswich where she got back off the speed, and with the market saying she had three legs, she didn’t win, but she kept on in a pretty good effort behind Win Burn. Knockout hope from the soft gate.
