A bumper ten race card has been set down for Launceston on Wednesday for Launceston Cup Day. Weather is fine, track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

5 Hartfelt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) does seem the straight bat play. He sat on speed over this track/distance last time out and tried hard from the wide gate but just died on the run when finishing second. Maps much better this time around and gets a big upgrade and D Lane taking over.

13 Wannabe Ziggy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous if within range on the turn. She ran over this trip at Hobart last start when back in the run and spotted those in front a start but did work to the line pretty well late in the piece when fourth. Froggy on, she rates highly.

8 In The Clouds (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite threat. She ran over this trip at Hobart last Sunday where she got dragged back to last from the wide gate and while she was never a winning threat, she did find the line well enough in defeat. The gate is tricky but think she’s going well enough to threaten.

12 Dubai Affair (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here last time when attempting to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but the end of seven furlongs just found her out late in the piece behind Gems Eagle. Back to 1200m, D Lane on, she’ll do me.

11 Billie The Great (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver. This filly resumed over 1200m at Hobart where she got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job when fourth. Tick over trial win last week was quite good and Frog sticks.

6 Toorak Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the debut, which came over 1200m at Hobart when off speed and made up decent headway late in the piece behind Geegeehailstorm. The gate is tricky, but I think if he can be within range 400m out, he’s got the engine under the hood to threaten.

6 Crack The Shutters (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one with the most upside/progression for Stuart Gandy. She won her maiden at Hobart last time when just off the speed throughout and trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Maps perfect, D Lane on and will be strong at the end.

4 Zany Girl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been the benchmark for the juveniles in Tassie this season. Her unbeaten run came to an end in the Magic Millions at this track/distance when wide, doing work, and the hard run just told late in the piece behind Sanniya. Better run in transit here, she takes beating.

3 Victory Tune (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the Victorian raider so he has to be given respect. He resumed in the Blue Diamond Prelude and just looked in need of the run when down the track behind Field Of Play. Big trip this way and wouldn’t be here for nothing, and gets M Zahra on, so I say he’s a big improver against these.

4 Bello Beau (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t won in a long time but I do think he’s really suited against this lot. He has been freshened up since Jan 27 when attempting to lead throughout in the Ladbrokes Stakes but tired late in the piece behind And Beyond. Like him back to this level, should get the drag across and take beating.

2 And Beyond (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after contesting the Thomas Lyons. He landed on speed and tried his guts out but the end of seven furlongs at that level just found him out but was as game as ever when fourth to First Accused. Back to 1200m, lands in front, hard to beat.

8 Sweet Lucifer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain at odds. He ran over this trip at Hobart last time where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up good headway in defeat when fourth. Not the best of records at Launceston but with a soft trip, he can launch late.

This could well be a fat day for D Lane if I am tipping well because on top here is 7 Snowdonia (Bet Now:  $SP.00). She ran over this trip at Hobart in the Carbine Club last time out and worked home with real purpose from off the speed when a close up second to Magnaprime. More genuine tempo, she’ll sit off it and hopefully can finish over the top.

1 Magnaprime (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a seven start career for Adam Trinder. He got a beaut run in transit last time out in the Carbine Club and in a driving go, finished best to score. Not sure what upside is left but he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

5 First Line (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran down the track behind Magnaprime in the race mentioned above. He got a decent enough run I thought and was there to challenge but just whacked late in the piece and only beat one runner home. Not sure he wins, but can run first four.

4 Happy Clan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to win for John Keys. He was a month between runs when racing over 2200m at Hobart last time when just off the speed and tried hard but given the break between runs, he just couldn’t quite see it through when third. Better for the run and he does have a liking for Launceston. He appeals each way.

8 Ozturk (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and she can go on with it. Her last couple of runs have come over the mile, the latest start being a dominant win at Hobart when near the speed before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. The rise in trip, I think, is fine, and this race isn’t deep.

11 Monte Fleur (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race back to Launceston after racing at Hobart over 2200m. She got a fair way out of her ground and did make up headway in a solid enough effort in defeat. Much better set up here so an improved showing is on the cards.

13 Geegees Mistruth (Bet Now:  $SP.00), in all honestly, could be overs at $1.50/thereabouts. She was arrogant first up in the Mystic Journey when on speed and she was jogging before being clicked up and away she went to win quite well. Fitter, 1400m, 2/2 at the track, upside…good luck beating her.

2 Dazzling Lucy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing really well at present for Tony Noonan. Tough win two back at Flemington before going to the Mystic Journey. She landed back in the run and was never beating Geegees Mistruth but did close off and was good in defeat. Doubt she turns the tables but runs well regardless.

3 Jaguar Stone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a must for exotics. Her absolute best is good enough to run top four, with her latest run being over 1200m at Hobart last time when on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job. Maps to do no work in the run and 1400m, I think, is fine.

3 Alhambra Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be the bet here. He is the one I have eyes on from the Hobart Cup. He got too far back in the run, sustained a wide run from the turn and rocketed to the line late behind Promises Kept. He’s found positive form, can settle closer…only runs well I say.

1 Promises Kept (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the map horse. Dominant win two back in the Summer Cup before going to the Hobart Cup where I thought he got every chance but was nabbed late by stablemate Strawberry Rock. Loses Foley but gets an in form Zahra and has the gate to get run of the race.

9 Pure Grunt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) deserves a crack at this kind of race. He is flying at the moment for Team Keys. Latest win was on Feb 1 at Sandown, giving them a start and a beating to win and win well. The rise to Stakes grade is interesting but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

2 Munhamek (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a good thing here surely? He just brings the far superior form IMO. Latest run was over the mile at Caulfield when back in the run and closed with purpose late in the piece when fourth to Caulfield Cup winner Duke De Sessa. If he can use the gate, settle within range…he’s just too good for these surely?

1 The Inevitable (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the local champ and class will carry him a long way. He was there to win the Thomas Lyons last time out and looked the winner when presented but First Accused burst through nearer the inside and finished best. The rise to 1600m is okay and should use the inside gate to advantage.

4 Indispensable (Bet Now:  $SP.00) rises to 1600m, several weeks between runs since racing over 1200m in the Ladbrokes Stakes when a game second to And Beyond. Surprise winner of this race previously and maps to get a sweet run in transit. Knockout hope.

7 Adachi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the each way play in the get out. He resumed over 1100m at Hobart when just off the speed and tried hard but being first up, condition just gave way late in the piece when fourth to Shall We Play. Fitter and up in trip, he strikes a winnable race so happy to be in his corner.

4 Turk Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a model of consistency and should be around the mark again. He ran over 1400m at Hobart, attempting to lead throughout, and giving a solid kick from the front, but just died on the run. Back to 1200m, front end control, takes running down.

1 Freak On A Lead (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Moshe that resumes for John Keys. He is first up, having not raced since Dec 27 at Hobart when attempting to lead throughout but tired to finish down the track behind Fast Thinker. He can sprint well fresh and a recent trial win was quite good.

BEST BET: Race Seven Number 13 Geegees Mistruth

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 2 Munhamek

LONG SHOT: Race Ten Number 7 Adachi
