23/8/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

4 Frilled (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to go for Matty Smith. She is first up, having not raced since Boxing Day at Randwick when racing over 1000m and felt the pinch late in the piece behind Audette. Given a good break and the trial to get ready was quite good.

7 Simbu (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance for Tony Gollan. He ran a fortnight back at this track/distance when back in the run before being presented clear air and worked home strongly but couldn’t quite get there when second to Belegato. If within range, he has the finale to win.

5 Mr Galazi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Golden Decade race from three weeks back at this track/distance. He was quite keen on speed and that burning of energy took away something from his finale when down the track. If he can harness his energy better, he can win.

5 Impervious (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m after resuming over 1000m here two weeks ago. She should have won I thought but nothing really went right for her in the straight and it ended up being an ugly watch. If the breaks go her way this time around, she’ll take holding out.

2 Foreign Press (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is 2/2 this time in and has to be respected. She won here over 1000m a fortnight back, getting a decent sit in transit near the speed before being clicked up and showed plenty late to fend them off and win. 1200m is the query but has a good racing style.

4 Profoundly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Michael Freedman trained filly that resumes, having not raced since April 5 over 1300m when placing, seemingly having her chance but was still solid enough in defeat. She’ll spot them a start but be strong at the end.

3 Khor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes up to 2400m after a race over 2200m during the Grafton Carnival where he was a bit on the one paced side but kept on and was pretty good late in the piece when fourth to Magicon. He’ll stay all day, he can win.

1 Canberra Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Chris Waller after racing at Rosehill where he found the track far too wet and was never a factor. Like him up to 2400m and a tick over trial on Monday was a good piece of work.

11 Artful Girl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 2200m after racing over 2400m two weeks back here. She was wide early and just a bit too much work in the run, tiring to finish down the track behind Bengal Boy. Been up a while but with a better run in transit, she can threaten.

11 Berezka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has only won the one race but that doesn’t truly reflect the ability of her. She was given a sore back by Maloney at Eagle Farm two weeks back, sitting wide throughout and the hard run just told on her late when second to Just Precious. Better run in transit, she’ll take beating.

8 Just Precious (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and she can go on with it for Stuart Kendrick. She was a strong winner a fortnight back at this track/distance, getting better as the race went on and was impressive in the run to the line. She commands respect.

4 Tara Jasmine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is sneaky flying. Veteran mare who was luckless two back during the Grafton Carnival before going to Toowoomba where she got back and made up decent headway without threatening. She’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

5 Razors (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was four weeks between runs and having his first run for Jack Bruce when winning over 1400m here two weeks ago where he looked a moral on paper and despite a narrow margin, he was always in control. 1600m should be fine, he appeals.

14 Simply Amazing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Doomben when near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Fat Fingers. Gets right down in the weights after the claim, she appeals.

4 Prado (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix. He ran third to Razors in the race mentioned above from two weeks back. He got back off speed and closed with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat, clocking good late splits. He’ll spot them a start again but should be strong late.

10 Northern Decree (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Rob Heathcoate. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when off speed, ridden more patiently, and worked home strongly, but just couldn’t quite get there when when second to Galifianakis. Knocking on the door and strikes a winnable race.

1 Caboche (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with relative fresh legs for Chris Waller, being five weeks between runs since a track/distance win when giving them a start and a beating, finishing best over the well performed stablemate Chica Mojito. Fresh legs is fine, he’ll be strong late and has a class edge.

I think the track was too wet for 2 Chrysaor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) two weeks back over 1400m here. In the run he looked to be trucking but when asked for the effort, the wheels started spinning and he was never a factor. His best is clearly good enough so don’t dismiss.

8 Point Counterpoint (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1800m after racing over the mile in the Coffs Harbour Cup. He appreciated a fast tempo and worked home with real purpose late when fourth to Time Quest. Like him up in trip, can settle closer and be strong late.

5 Barazin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it for Kris Lees. Loved the way he knuckled down to win on Coffs Harbour Cup Day in the Ken Howard, wearing down the tearaway leader to win and win well. His confidence is up, he can win again.

3 Kettle Hill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He hasn’t raced since July 19 over 2000m at Flemington when off speed and was okay late without threatening behind stablemate Sayedaty Sadaty. Tick over jumpout was solid, watch betting.

7 Kadall (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is finding it very hard to win for Team Archibald but should be around the mark. That was the case over the mile here a fortnight back, trying hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when a close up third to Cunnamulla Fella. He’ll be around the mark and a win wouldn’t entirely shock.

11 Larrikin Rouge (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned well and should appreciate a rise to 1400m after resuming over 1200m here two weeks back where he was one of the eye catchers of the meeting, closing with real purpose late from the back when third to Gospel Girl. Fitter and up in trip, he appeals.

18 Divine Gem (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in a real purple patch for Brendan Jones. She is just under two weeks between runs since an on speed win at the Sunny Coast where she found under pressure to fend them off and get the job done. She can measure up.

17 Shelstein (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned in beast mode and is one of the hardest to beat after a first up win at the midweeks at Ipswich where he gave them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale and ran fast late splits. Good test here, keen to see how he goes.

14 About To Explode (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Tony Gollan. He resumed over this track/distance a fortnight back where he got too far out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Gospel Girl. Fitter, can settle closer, takes beating.

11 Zelgaria (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a bit on the plain side first up but ran a much improved race two weeks back here, sitting off speed and kept finding the line in defeat behind Gospel Girl. Hard fit now, he should prove hard to beat against these.

BEST BET: Race Nine Number 17 Shelstein

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 7 Kadall

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 8 Point Counterpoint
