23/4/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick

I like 2 Czar (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS). I don’t think it was the strongest field he beat on debut at Hawkesbury but loved the way he knuckled down to win. His 400m-200m split was the best of the meeting and the last 200m was the best of the race and fourth for the meeting. Off that effort, he’ll eat up 1100m and should take beating.

5 Zougotcha (Bet Now: $2.15 TOP ODDS) is an above average filly for Chris Waller. Debuted on an absolute bottomless at Canterbury but she lapped up the conditions and won with a touch of class under J Mac. Back to 1100m I find interesting with her but she appears to be a strong filly that eats up mud.

12 Diamond City (Bet Now: $14.00 TOP ODDS) looks a horse of talent. Dominant all the way win at Wyong last time out and the big tick for her that day was that she ran much quicker time than the overall horses, which is a good sign for a juvenile. Handles wet ground, down in the weights, on speed, she’s in the mix.

Landed with 5 Just Field (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS) for Damien Lane. She doesn’t win out of turn but she has some very strong form lines around her from last prep, including a run here when closing off quite well behind Leo. Muswellbrook trial was a good piece of work and this is the easiest race she has contested in some time.

6 Sunborn (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) is an Ed Cummings trained mare that resumes. This mare had one run in the early part of the Autumn, closing off okay at Warwick Farm behind the then in form Stormborn. Liked a recent trial from her and with the speed on in front, she’ll be strong at the end.

3 Impulse Control (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) is hit and miss but she is a mare with talent for Nathan Doyle. Madi Derrick produced an absolute peach to win on her at Newcastle last time, leading throughout and sticking to the inside, saving the ground and that was the difference between winning and losing. Her best can measure up.

15 Fourmadec (Bet Now: $3.10 TOP ODDS) has come back in super order for Matty Dale and confident she can measure up to Highway grade. All four runs this time in have come on her home track at Canberra, winning her last two, two back during the Black Opal Carnival before a big win over the mile from the back. Deserves a crack at this level.

1 Mr Hussil (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) is on the seven day back up for Cameron Crockett after racing in the Highway here last Saturday. He got back in the run on a day where on speed/fence in run was gold, so his effort to finish a closing fourth had plenty of merit. His form reads super. Just needs luck from the gate.

14 Highbury (Bet Now: $61.00 TOP ODDS) isn’t far off a win and Colt Prosser can surprise when he brings them to town for the Highway. This guy comes here over a month between runs since racing at Moree when on speed and fought on strongly when third. I reckon with a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.

4 Aleas (Bet Now: $1.95 TOP ODDS) looks a horse with real talent. Chris Waller trained former UK galloper that made his Australian debut at Newcastle and was good late from off the speed behind stablemate O’President. Tick over trial was a lovely piece of work and given his form in the UK was at 2000m+, the rise to 1800m here is ideal.

6 Irish Sequel (Bet Now: $4.00 TOP ODDS) looks suited up in trip. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed in the O’President race from Tancred Day at Newcastle and while he was never really a winning threat, I liked the way he finished his race off. Tick over trial at Warwick Farm was so so, but he’s more of a race day horse and will be strong at the end.

2 Kaapfever (Bet Now: $14.00 TOP ODDS) is a very interesting runner. He is two weeks between runs since contesting the Sydney Cup where it was a sit/sprint, so that set up wasn’t to his liking, but he was good in defeat I thought. Back to 1800m I find fascinating but he likes Randwick on wet ground.

5 Sense Of Honour (Bet Now: $3.90) is a mare with good talent for the Price/Kent camp. Late market push in for her when resuming at the midweeks at Sandown, her first run since July 2020. She just looked a bit race rusty but she closed her race off well enough behind Universal Lady. Fitter, up to 1200m, hopefully she bounces off that.

3 The Big Easy (Bet Now: $7.00) has the Maher/Eustace polish and likes getting his toe in, so he commands respect. Contested the Eldorado at Echuca and with clear air, I think he wins instead of a narrow third to Mynumerouno in a good race. He’ll eat up the conditions and should be strong late.

9 American President (Bet Now: $4.20) rises a fair bit in grade/depth, but he is a horse that is loving up wet ground. Too strong for them two back at Goulburn before going to Canterbury where he raced on the Heavy275 and lapped up the mud best in a slog. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s going.

3 Quintello (Bet Now: $2.30) for me. Maher/Eustace trained mare that is four weeks between runs since a dominant first up win at Mornington where she looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted in bolting up, beating up an average bunch. Like her up in trip and in a winnable race, she’ll do me.

5 Elusive Jewel (Bet Now: $7.50) looks to have returned in pretty good order. She was smashed in betting when resuming at Goulburn and the market got it absolutely spot on, with promising apprentice Amy McLucas pretty much sitting and steering. Form around her from last prep reads well and she’s got good upside to come.

2 Miss Redoble (Bet Now: $26.00) is knocking on the door to win. Race shape was against her two back here in the Aspiration before going to the Muswellbrook Cup where she got a fair way back in the run but charged late, just missing out on picking up Regal Stage. Back to Mares grade, she’s in with a shout.

10 Dragonstone (Bet Now: $5.00) is a very consistent animal for Mark Newnham that comes here a tick over two weeks between runs since racing on an absolute bog at Canterbury. He tried hard but was clearly no match for fresh specialist Andermatt. If he’s within range, he’s good enough to run them down.

2 Andermatt (Bet Now: $1.55) is a quality sprinter for James Cummings that kept up his impressive fresh record with a spank job at Canterbury at the midweeks, lapping up the bottomless track and giving nothing else a look in. Good test here, but potentially blacktype beckons with another win.

11 Mariamia (Bet Now: $11.00) is a huge query here. Formerly with Shane Stockdale, she now finds herself with Joe Pride and you’d assume she has been purchased to try and get a blacktype win. Several weeks between runs, but a tick over trial was strong and stable are one of the best at improving a tried horse.

3 Diamil (Bet Now: $2.15) looks a horse with good talent for John O’Shea and confident he can measure up at this level and higher. Looked a good thing on paper when racing at Warwick Farm last time out and he duly saluted under a cool and confident steer from J Mac. Harder here, but he’s an import heading in the right direction.

5 La Chevalee (Bet Now: $4.00) deserves another chance. Really liked her first up run behind The Garden at Sandown. She then went to the Bendigo Bracelet where she did a bit of work from the gate and just felt the pinch late. Proven in Sydney around this time last year and gets conditions to suit.

2 Tampering (Bet Now: $11.00) is a beauty for Kerry Parker that bolted up fresh in a Midway at Rosehill. He then went to Hawkesbury and just found them a bit sharp but wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Kalapour. Third up at the mile I like and is genuine. Knockout hope against these.

7 Taksu (Bet Now: $2.50) is a hard fit/in form galloper for Joe Pride that is several weeks between runs since racing at Newcastle when on speed and tried his guts out. Just couldn’t quite finish it off when a narrow second to O’President. Was down to run last Saturday but couldn’t get a run. He’ll jump on the bunny and run a very honest race.

4 O’President (Bet Now: $2.45) will put himself on speed and try hard. Market wanted him at a price when resuming over 1400m at Newcastle where he sat on a strong speed and was entitled to knock up but he found when required and was too good. Trialled well leading in so is he back on track?

11 Nicci’s Fling (Bet Now: $15.00) is sneaky flying for Gary Portelli I feel. Luckless two back in the Birthday Card before goig to the Sapphire where she had no chance given the way the track played, but clsoed her race off well. Back to this level and down in the weights with W Pike, she’s a knockout hope.

5 Nikau Spur (Bet Now: $3.90) looks to be in for a good prep. Maher/Eustace trained gelding that was a real eye catcher first up at the midweeks at Canterbury, working home strongly from near last on the turn when third to Vreneli. Like him up to 1400m on the bigger and in the right camp.

7 Ucalledit (Bet Now: $4.80) is a former Kiwi who is having start two in Australia for Kris Lees. Australian debut came behind Vreneli at Canterbury where he was specked at a price and I thought he ran a pretty solid race from off the speed to finish fourth. Fitter and up to 1400m, he can improve big time.

13 Toretto (Bet Now: $10.00) rises a fair bit in grade/depth but he’s flying and deserves a crack in town for Matty Dale. Defied somewhat of a betting drift to win on Albury Cup Day, where he made a mess of them and showed he can handle all conditions. Proven on wet ground and gets W Pike, he’s in the mix.

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 4 Aleas

LONG SHOT: Race Ten Number 5 Nikau Spur
