Ten races will be run and won at Doomben this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:38) Moet & Chandon (bm90) 2200m
6 Nemingah (Bet Now: $7.00) is bursting to win a race for Ed O’Rourke. He has finished runner up his past four, three of them being Country Cups, the latest being a narrow second to Our Intrigue in the Port Macquarie Cup. If he brings that form here, he wins. Hard to beat I’d suggest.
3 Irish Sequel (Bet Now: $2.70) is on the seven day back up for Chris Waller after a strong win last Saturday at Eagle Farm. He looked in a bit of trouble early on in the straight but as the race went further, the better he got and was impressive. Seven day back up is always a positive with the stable.
1 He Runs Away (Bet Now: $8.50) comes back to 2200m after racing over 2400m in the Queensland Cup two weeks ago. He was off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite the job done behind the heavily backed Honorable Spirit. I think back in trip is a big tick for him and is in the right camp.
Race 2. (13:13) Lexus Plate 1110m
4 Honkytonk Diva (Bet Now: $6.50) on top. Kelly Schweida trained filly that debuted here three weeks ago over the 1050m. Lost the plot a bit on the turn but picked up and surged hard late when second to Heroic Son. Fitter and up in trip with the run under the belt, she’ll take beating I’d suggest in a race lacking overall depth to the eye.
3 Exo Lady (Bet Now: $3.00) looks to have her share of talent. Debuted with an all the way win at Eagle Farm a fortnight back. Sustained speed from the front came to the fore and though wandered about a bit late, she was always holding them. Extra trip no issue and stable is flying, likewise the rider.
2 Primed For Victory (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Chris Munce trained colt that ran fourth in the Heroic Son race mentioned above. He was kept very safe in betting when on speed throughout. He gave a mini kick but tired late when fourth. I think he could get the tag up behind Exo Lady and perhaps ridden with a sit, he’ll be more effective.
Race 3. (13:48) Springsocial.com.au (bm72) 1050m
11 Shamaton (Bet Now: $3.70) is hit and miss but his best is definitely good enough, as seen when winning two weeks ago at Eagle Farm. It was a lovely ride by Maloney and he finished best in a driving go. He can be a hard horse to catch but at his best, like last start, he can win again.
4 Frozen In Time (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Kris Lees trained mare that should be forgiven for her last start at Toowoomba. Mallyon rode a poor race I thought. Negative steer with no real initiative and should have finished much closer, potentially win. She’s flying and can definitely bounce back.
10 Soubrette (Bet Now: $61.00) is hit and miss for Brian Smith but her best is certainly good enough to be in the finish. Strong winner at Eagle Farm two back before going to Doomben where not much went her way behind Contemptuous. Soft gate, an improved showing is on the cards.
Race 4. (14:23) Oscar Oscar Salons Hcp 1350m
4 At Witz End (Bet Now: $2.80) is a beauty for Owen Glue. He comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since September 28 when a game, closing third to a quality animal, Ballistic Boy, who won next start. Had a tick over trial at Grafton a few weeks ago, so lacks hard fitness, but he’s just genuine.
3 Cloak (Bet Now: $6.00) is a quality animal for David Vandyke that resumes and kicks off a Summer Carnival prep. Love horses that go out for a spell on a high and that is what this guy did, winning a fast run Class 6 during the Winter Carnival. Two trials to get ready and while he is better as the prep goes on, he has a dynamic record at Doomben.
2 Magnufighter (Bet Now: $14.00) is better suited over a bit further, but a drop of rain won’t hurt his chances. He resumes, having not raced since December 19 over 2000m here when fourth to Get Stuck In. Just one soft trial to get ready, but loves racing here, and with rain forecast, he’s in with a shout.
Race 5. (14:58) Canadian Club Hcp 1200m
2 Birriecart (Bet Now: $2.40) has done nothing wrong in his two start career, winning both times. Impressive win at this track/distance last Wednesday when doing work early and was entitled to feel the pinch late but in the end, he was strongest late and impressive. Off that, he can measure up here.
Fitter and up to 1200m, I want to give 1 Tiger Heart (Bet Now: $1.90) another chance. Tony Gollan trained three year old that resumed over 1000m at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and worked home well. Loomed to win but condition just gave way when third to Glorious Ruby. Like him up to 1200m and he’ll take beating.
6 Devastating (Bet Now: $7.00) looks next best. Hasn’t raced in several weeks since an all the way maiden win at the Sunny Coast where he was out of petrol tickets late but clung on. Tick over trial was a good piece of work, should land on speed and give some cheek.
Race 6. (15:33) Nova 106.9 Hcp 1200m
Class should get 1 Invisible Tears (Bet Now: $4.00) home. Quality filly for Gillian Heinrich that resumes. Hasn’t raced since the JJ Atkins where she ran a very game fourth to then star colt Converge. Dodged the Spring with the Summer in mind, and her trials to get ready indicate a first up maiden win is on the cards.
4 Rayjen (Bet Now: $3.50) is a So You Think filly resuming for Rob Heathcoate. Two starts in the Winter to start her career, winning on debut before a narrow second to Group l placegetter Hinged, with a gap to third. Form around her is quite good and looks to have trialled well in readiness for her return.
6 Putontheredlight (Bet Now: $4.00) has to step it up a notch but all you can do is win and that is what she did on debut at the Sunny Coast. Admittedly it wasn’t a strong maiden and the runner up has been beaten since, but she’s in the right camp and the small field helps.
Race 7. (16:18) Tab Venue Mode Plate (c6) 1615m
11 So Taken (Bet Now: $4.60) is bursting to win a race. Ran over this track/distance three weeks ago where she seemed to get a peach ride off the speed and top of the straight, she looked the winner, but had to settle for second to Green Jacket, who saved ground nearer the inside and was too good. That was her first look at the mile for some time so she should be better for it.
6 Green Jacket (Bet Now: $4.00) is in career best form for Team Edmonds and has to be respected here. Closing second two back to Rebel Rock then proved that was no fluke with a dominant win at Doomben three weeks back, helped by a lovely steer from Byrne. Can he bring that form again?
10 Kubrick (Bet Now: $6.00) is a very hard horse to follow/trust but his best will see him win this. Narrow second two back in a Class 6 at Toowoomba. He backed up a week later in a Class 3 and teased again from the back after getting a fair way back in the run. Down in the weights, he can bounce back.
Race 8. (16:55) Heartfit (bm70) 1350m
8 Keep On Loving You (Bet Now: $19.00) will get back and be strong late. He ran at Doomben three weeks back when dragged back to near last in the run but loved the way he attacked the line when fourth to Contemptuous, beaten just over two lengths. Needs luck from the gate, but is in good form.
15 Toujours L’Amour (Bet Now: $18.00) is a Barry Baldwin trained mare that was specked at odds when racing three weeks ago at this track/distance and while she didn’t win, she still ran a positive race and was good in defeat when second to Big Bad Bruce, who dominated from the front. That form reads okay for this.
Fitter and up to 1350m, 3 Glamour Fox (Bet Now: $15.00) can be dangerous. First run for the new stable came on her home track at the Sunny Coast over 1200m. Had a sweet run in transit and loomed large to win, but being fresh, her condition just gave way. Like her up in distance and her best is good enough.
Race 9. (17:43) Xxxx Dry (bm78) 1350m
12 Neutron (Bet Now: $2.50) is heading in the right direction for Kacy Fogden. Backed with confidence last start at Doomben and despite copping pressure on speed, he was far too good for them and was impressive. Fitter, and upside to come, he’ll take beating despite a tricky draw.
8 Sir Warwick (Bet Now: $2.25) is absolutely flying this time in and has to be given serious respect. Backed late when racing last time out at Doomben and if you were on, you were not concerned at any stage. He gave them a spanking and gee he was impressive. No reason why he can’t continue the picket fence.
3 Rebel Salute (Bet Now: $8.00) has a poor racing pattern but he certainly has the engine under the hood to win this. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he got back in the run and did make up ground when third to Big Bad Bruce, who dominated from the front. If he can sit closer, in the run, he’ll take beating.
Race 10. (18:23) Sqs Haulage Hcp (c6) 1200m
2 Contemptuous (Bet Now: $2.20) is a very progressive animal and confident he can continue his winning ways. Three weeks between runs since bolting up at this track/distance, sitting off the speed before angling clear and finishing over the top for a strong win. He can keep winning.
5 Gogol (Bet Now: $4.80) is on the seven day back up after bolting up last Saturday at the Gold Coast in a four horse race. What was remarkable was the drift for him, touching $1.50 given he looked a genuine $1.10 chance and duly won like a $1.10 chance. Has dominated the provincials. Now no place to hide. Keen to see how he goes.
3 Boom Spender (Bet Now: $6.50) is a beauty for Desleigh Forster that will put himself on speed and try hard. Led and was too tough when winning at Eagle a fortnight back. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure, fended them off and was too good. Harder here, but has to be respected.
