Race 1. (12:17) The Junction (Bm76) 2400m
5 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat option. Three weeks between runs since racing over 2500m at Murray Bridge when near the speed throughout before being clicked up to build the revs and tried hard, as she always does. Just found one better in Victorian raider Brawl. She does tend to save her best for the Parks track and she strikes a very winnable race.
6 Footlights (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a working progress for Aaron Bain and has to rate as one of the hardest to beat. He ran a fortnight back at Gawler over 2100m where he tried to make a sustained run from off the speed and ran a comfortable second, but was no match for noted swimmer Campobasso. Has run okay at 2400m previously and off last run, I think he will be fine.
4 Canford (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Ryan Balfour after racing last Saturday over 1950m here where he just found them a bit sharp and couldn’t quite get involved when down the track behind Jaguary. Much better suited at the staying trip and with his best, he is certainly good enough to threaten against these.
Race 2. (12:52) Furphy Mdn Plate 1000m
12 Miss Sunshine (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me. Team McEvoy trained filly that resumes. She debuted at Pakenham on January 12 when near the speed and battled away pretty well in defeat behind The Instructor, who was one of the sharper juveniles going around at the time, so I think that form reads well for a race like this, and with two strong jumpouts under the belt, she’s ready to go.
3 Lakota Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Kavanagh trained colt that commands respect off the back of his debut at Werribee where he was a near rank outsider but did a good job in defeat after settling near the speed, he fought on pretty well in defeat to finish third to Archo Nacho. Back on firmer footing and back in trip, good racing style, he’ll take running down.
8 Zanthron (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks suited back up in trip. Just found the 1300m a bridge too far two back behind Solar Mist before coming back to 900m when off the speed and found the line strongly, but was no match late for the impressive finale of Surprise Coming. Has the hard race fitness/experience under the belt to command some level of respect.
Race 3. (13:27) The Fotobase Group (Bm82) 1250m
2 Jacks On Ice (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Team Jolly and for me, is the one they have to beat. He was outstanding when winning at Gawler two weeks ago. He was back off the speed on testing ground but kept finding under Rawiller and gee he was strong to the line in getting the job done. That was his first run in three weeks so with room for improvement, how genuine he is…the one for me.
5 Classy Kenny (Bet Now: $SP.00) will be spotting them a start but if he’s within range, he is certainly good enough to take this out. He ran two weeks back at Gawler in the race won by Jacks On Ice and I thought he was a real eye catcher, closing off with real purpose late in the piece behind the Team Jolly gelding. Not the best of racing patterns but can finish over the top.
4 France’s Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give them something to chase. He ran last Saturday over 1550m here when attempting to lead throughout and giving a decent sight, kicking hard under riding but couldn’t withstand the class of Wild Imagination. Interesting he comes back to 1250m but he’ll be tough, finding and looking the winner at some stage.
Race 4. (14:02) Croser (Bm70) 1550m
2 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) will take running down from on speed for Michael Hickmott. Lot of grit about his win two weeks ago at Gawler, leading throughout under Rawiller. He looked gone at the top of the straight but he just kept finding and pretty much was thrown all over the line by Rawiller. If this track does play towards those up/in, he becomes a near moral. Even on a fair track, still the one to beat.
6 Storm Hunter (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the map horse and is in form after winning last Saturday at this track/distance. He had the A1 run in transit behind the speed before getting a split and in a driving finish, he was able to get the job done in a decent effort. That was a 0MW so rises to 70 grade but maps to stalk the speed and be dangerous, especially down in the weights.
7 Upgrade Me (Bet Now: $SP.00) has run well on the Parks track previously and strikes a winnable race. He ran over the mile three weeks back at Murray Bridge in what was an on speed domination so in that regard, he had little hope, but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind France’s Boy. That was his first run in several weeks so you’d like to think he has room for improvement.
Race 5. (14:37) Pfd Food Services (Rs0mw) 1000m
4 Lake Agawam (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the nod for me, just. Son of Lonhro that resumes for David Jolly, having not raced since March 25 over this track/distance when a closing fourth to the then flying Shirshov, who is now in Darwin and will likely win the Palmerston North, so that form reads extremely well for a race like this and seemed to move well in a recent Strathalbyn jumpout.
1 Deevine (Bet Now: $SP.00) has the runs on the board to command respect. She resumes for Ryan Balfour and her best is clearly good enough to take this out. She resumes, having not raced since January 4 at Geelong when down the track behind a nice horse, Pinnace. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and despite no trials/jumpouts, I think she has to be respected in a very winnable race.
2 Kong (Bet Now: $SP.00) can run an improved race for Ryan Balfour. She resumed two weeks back at Gawler on testing ground when near the speed throughout and just couldn’t quite sustain the run on the ground, finishing down the track behind Jacks On Ice. Back on firmer footing and back big time in grade/depth, he can run an improved race at odds.
Race 6. (15:17) Chalk Hill (Bm82) 1400m
8 Pontedera (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Michael Hickmott since racing over 1400m on the home deck at Murray Bridge when back near last in the run but got clear air at the right time and launched late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Turf Decision. 2/2 on the Parks track and off that last start, he has to rate as the one to beat.
6 Sparkup (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Team Jolly. Both runs this time in have come at 1200m, the latest being two weeks ago at Gawler and kept finding the line pretty well from off the speed when third to the in form Metro Legend. He has more upside than most engaged here and with a more positive ride, I think he’s going well enough to threaten.
3 Tigre Royale (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Team Jolly, he is with the Dunn/Bishop camp, having not raced since the Coonawarra Cup at Penola in January, his first run for the new stable, and didn’t fire when down the track behind Wild Willy. Trial and jumpout under the belt to get ready and first up at 1400m signals some level of intent IMO…can he win? I am saying no, but a first four threat yes.
Race 7. (15:57) Winning Edge Present. (Bm62) 1250m
5 Portation (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be the straight bat option for Team Jaensch. He was backed with confidence when resuming two weeks ago at Gawler and the bets were landed as he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in, winning by four lengths and spanking them. He looks to have come back a bigger. better horse and with his racing style, he’ll take running down.
4 Important Product (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very consistent animal for Peter Nolan that will jump on the bunny and give cheek. He did that last Saturday at this track/distance when leading and giving a very solid kick but couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up fourth to Cold Case. The end of 1250m at this level is the knock with him but he’ll give a bold sight I am sure.
7 Willaston (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider exotics. He was specked at odds two weeks back at Gawler when tracking the speed and while he was no match for Portration, he stuck on well enough to finish second in a decent effort. Can he be trusted to run as well again? History says no, but overall, the depth here is on the thin side.
Race 8. (16:32) Thomas Farms (Bm64) 1250m
6 Fancify (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a nice filly in the making for Michael Hickmott. This filly debuted at Murray Bridge several weeks ago when wide no cover for the trip, sitting six/seven wide, but despite that hard run, she finished best and was too good for Wally West, who has won since and ran well last Saturday in a strong race. Form reads well, tick over trials have been strong…hard to beat I’d suggest.
9 Out Of Aflica (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll fresh for the Clarken/O’Shea camp. This filly is first up, having not raced since March 25 over 1400m here when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Tapinforpar. She’s had two trials and a jumpout to get ready for the return so there is clear intent to run well fresh IMO and hopefully the market agrees.
10 Our Shining Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door. Team Jolly trained filly that ran three weeks back at Murray Bridge in a strong 3YO race. She got back to near last in the run and worked home with real purpose late in the piece behind Validated. She has been teasing to win a race this time in and off last run, she is certainly going well enough to threaten these.
Race 9. (17:08) Grand Syndicates Hcp (64) 1400m
3 Annihilate (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Chris Bieg after racing last Saturday at this track/distance. He got a fair way out of his ground but Voorham was able to slice her way through on the gelding and drove hard late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Lord Luker. Been up a while but only has to hold his form to be around the mark.
4 Another Ponzi (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Team Jolly. He ran fourth in the Lord Luker race mentioned above. He was given every chance I thought by Toeroek but just couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for a close up fourth. Better for that run under the belt, he maps to get run of the race and be dangerous.
2 Angaston (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good record on the Parks track and has more upside than most. He resumed two weeks back at Gawler where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out, but he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Jacks On Ice. Like him up to 1400m and I think back on firmer footing, he can run a much improved race.
