Aami Golden Slipper Day 2012 is Sydney’s best race day of the year and the richest race day in Australia. The feature race is the $3.5 Million Aami Golden Slipper (1200m) with the lone Victorian Samaready the $2.50 favourite to maintain her unbeaten streak. Her task was made easier by the surprise non-acceptane of boom colt All Too Hard on Tuesday.
The afternoon is also highlighted by the second best WFA race in Australia, the $2.5 Million 2400m classic, The Bmw. It shapes up to the best running of this great race since Makybe Diva and Grand Armee produced a memorable edition in 2005. Americain is the even money top pick, ahead of Manighar and Southern Speed.

Three more Group one’s plus another four Group races ensure that it will be another fabulous day of world class thoroughbred action.
Race One: The Schweppervescence 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: I’ve settled on two horses, Flying Sniztel and Dear Demi with a leaning towards the latter. She has been looking for 1400m since day one and her run in the Sweet Embrace was solid after settling well back.
Don’t Back Me: Proverb was unlucky at Newcastle, but the depth in that race is very questionable I think.
Big Danger: Flying Snitzel was excellent after being forced back and wide last Saturday. 1400m is perfect and has the class factor on her side.
Roughie: Strength didn’t do a great deal first up at Randwick but he was a shade unlucky. With a clear run, he could bob up in the placings.

Race Two: Sebring Stakes 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: Best bet of the day for me in Mic Mac. Resuming from a very long spell, but has had two trials to prepare him for this. His latest trial was super as he was cruising when finishing second. Should get the dream run behind Zaratone and Winter King and prove hard to beat.
Don’t Back Me: Big drop in grade for Winter King, but he has been racing terribly for a while now.
Big Danger: Really keen on Zaratone for the place because he will lead and with the rail out, leaders may be favoured.
Roughie: Pinwheel flies fresh and trialled well recently. He is in with a big chance, as is Riva De Lago, who had no luck first up.
Race Three: Vinery Stud Stakes 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: Two horse race- Mosheen and Streama. Leaning towards Streama. She was excellent in the Coolmore despite sitting wide with no cover. Drawn to get a soft run here and could be the value out of these two.
Don’t Back Me: Can’t say anything here. Mosheen/Streama quinella is the safe bet.
Danger: Mosheen has been outstanding in the Autumn and just needs to maintain her form to be awfully hard to beat.
Roughie: Plumm should get the soft run from the barrier and although she is a maiden, she can run a race at odds.
Race Four: Myer Tulloch Stakes Stakes 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: Very, very keen on Strawberry Boy. Won with ease on debut at Newcastle before showing the signs of a Group One horse with a dominant win at Hawkesbury last week. He’ll press forward and go close to winning.
Don’t Back Me: The quick back up for Iggi Pop is a concern against this calibre of horse.
Big Danger: Compass should lead from the rails draw. Very impressive win at Canterbury and deserves a crack at this grade.
Roughie: Specter threw the race away at Caulfield thanks to his bad manners. Durnford could surprise at huge odds.

Race Five: The Bmw 2400m Form Guide
Back Me: I would declare Americain the best bet of the Carnival, but the dry track is a slight concern. In saying that, he is too classy and should blitz these.
Don’t Back Me: Can’t really say anything here because it is a two horse race.
Big Danger: I’ve potted Manighar for a while, but I’ve warmed to him now. Really gritty performance to win the Ranvet and he is getting better and better with each run.
Roughie: I think the $21 on offer for Efficient is tempting. His run in the Australian Cup was excellent and for sentimental reasons, wouldn’t it be great to see the old warrior win another major?
Race Six: Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes 1500m Form Guide
Back Me: I can’t see More Joyous getting beat here. Top effort to win the Canterbury Stakes first up. She flies second up and looks a weighted special at WFA.
Don’t Back Me: Ofcourseican was impressive in winning the Coolmore, but looks tested at WFA.
Big Danger: Yosei is bursting to win a race, not sure if it is here. She was unlucky in the Coolmore and should receive the best run in the race.
Roughie: Miss Keepsake is classy when right and she showed that with a brilliant win at Kembla.
Race Seven: Aami Golden Slipper 1200m Form Guide
Back Me: I’ve stuck with Pierro since his first up win and I’m not going to jump off. Nash was kind to him in the Todman and only got serious over the final 100m. It was a tough win and that’s what you want to see from a colt leading in to this race. He’ll be right on the speed and will have every chance.
Don’t Back Me: Samaready is taleneted, but $2.40 in the Golden Slipper? I don’t think she warrants that short of a quote.
Big Danger: I think the forgotten horse here is No Looking Back. Should have won the Magic Millions, before running a gallant second to Samaready in the Blue Diamond. Going in to this race after a 42 day break won’t be easy but Gai is the master of juveniles and she’ll have this filly ready to fire. And let’s not forget the rider in Craig Williams. His confidence will be sky high after winning in Dubai on Ortensia.
Roughie: At huge odds, I’d have something each-way on Amorino purely because he’ll get the soft run behind Pierro. If he can improve on his first up run, then he could surprise.
Race Eight: Daily Telegraph George Ryder Stakes 1500m Form Guide
Back Me: Sticking with King Mufhasa. Champion kiwi galloper who should lead and with Nash sticking with him, he’ll be near impossible to gun down. Super first up record.
Don’t Back Me: I honestly don’t know how you can put a line through one here because beside the top pick and Niagara, it is wide open.
Big Danger: I said immediately after his first up run, Niagara would be a sneaky Doncaster chance. He is on the right path thanks to his stunning Ajax Stakes win last Saturday. Wide barrier here and at WFA level are two concerns, but he should spear across and be on the pace.
Roughie: About six or seven horses here. Rangirangdoo, Danleigh, Woorim, Monton, He’s Remarkable, Secret Admirer and Huegill.
Race Nine: Cellarbrations H.K.J.C. Stakes 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: Really keen to see how Western Symbol handles this. Hard not to be impressed by his effort first up at the metro meeting at Hawkesbury, carrying 60kg on a wet track.
Don’t Back Me: Maules Creek was gifted the race at Randwick. Wide barrier means he won’t get the perfect trip here.
Big Danger: Crafty Irna should have won last Saturday. She had no luck. Quick back up is a good lead and the ideal barrier ensures she will be a top chance.
Roughie: Southern Skye showed a return to form with a strong second behind Single. Firmer track is a big tick, as is the good draw. Definite chance of repeating his last start performance.
