Adam Page gives us his runner by runner preview for tomorrow’s Turnpoint Randwick Guineas at Warwick Farm racecourse, view his analysis, tips and selections.
1. Ilovethiscity
Won like a good thing in the Hobartville. It was somewhat of an arrogant win. He was dominant in that race and from barrier five, he should be just as dominant here. I don’t think he is a genuine threat for the Doncaster, but with normal luck in running, he’ll get a deserved big race victory.
2. Pressday
Bombed the start behind Ilovethiscity and raced wide throughout. Trialled since and he was good without being spectacular. If he brings his A-game, he is a threat.
3. Retrieve
Ran on strongly from well back in the Hobartville to run second. He’ll be eyeing off longer races but he can feature in the finish here on his home track.
4. Skilled
Has been good in two runs this time in for two placings. McEvoy is on this one instead of Retrieve, that’s a positive lead for fans of this horse.
5. Masquerader
He’ll bob up and win a race shortly. He has been very hard to follow because we know he has the talent to win this race, but he just doesn’t put in 100%. He has the ideal barrier and should get the plum run. A place hope.
6. Praecido
Ran on well in the Hobartville and he’ll do the same here but he is a Derby horse.
7. Top Drop
He has been ok at his last couple without threatening. Just not sure if he is up to these at the mile as I think he needs it easier and shorter.
8. Goldstone
Showed potential in Melbourne during the Spring but hasn’t fired this time in. He has the Cummings polish and the old boy can pull out a few tricks. Can he spark something out of this one?
9. Absolutelyawesome
Has a cult following by punters due to Bossy declaring it a serious race horse. Not sure if 1600m is his go but he has the rails and will get a soft run. He is a risk first time racing the Sydney way but the stable have to be respected.
10. Shootoff
Pass.
11. Light Brigade
Has been satisfactory this time in without really looking threatening. He has been working well in trackwork and looks the leader here. He’ll give some cheek but he is also eyeing off the Derby. A Place hope.
Selections (Not in order): 1 Ilovethiscity, 4 Skilled, 9 Absolutelyawesome, 11 Light Brigade
