2011 Kewney Stakes preview, analysis and tips

Adam Page gives us his runner by runner preview for tomorrow’s Kewney Stakes at Flemington racecourse, view his analysis, tips and selections.
1. Brazilian Pulse

Oaks winner resuming. Was very good in the Spring in what was her first preparation. She ran in four consecutive group races for a group one and group two win, with another two placings. 1400m is not her ideal distance but class just about gets her home.

2. Sistine Angel

Showed glimpses of her best form last start with a solid third in the Armanasco. She is third up now and there won’t be any excuses for her here. She’s a big threat to Brazilian Pulse.

3. Willow Creek

She has been awful this time in and looks like she is here to make up the numbers.

4. Divorces

Good filly resuming. Wasn’t that flash during the Spring in Melbourne despite winning the Tranquil Star. The Snowden team is flying though and I expect her to be rocketing home late.

5. Twilight Savings

This kiwi filly did a power of work first up in the Typhoon Tracy when leading and eventually caved in late. She’ll be a lot better for that run and is drawn much better for this. I’d watch her very carefully.

6. Jessie’s Girl

Another that has disappointed this time in. Seemed to have every hope last start behind Pinker Pinker but struggled late. Not going well enough to win.

7. Sayahailmary

Was beautifully ridden by Benny Melham in front but found the surge of Pinker Pinker too powerful late. Will get the run of the race from barrier one, but does she have the class?

8. Kittens

Nice staying type resuming. Was good in the Oaks behind Brazilian Pulse but her best form is over longer. Watch for her to run on.

9. Ain’tnofallenstar

Her last start win has to be seen to be believed. Wasn’t really in the hunt until the final 50m when she really attacked the line and powered clear at Adelaide. If she reproduces that run, she is a serious contender.

10. Zelsnitz

Will she run her race in the mounting yard for the third time in as many starts this campaign? If she just relaxes and saves her energy for the track, then she’d be a hope.

11. Royal Bender

Got to the line well behind Miss Gai Flyer last start. She is a handy type but the class will test her.

12. Jeter

Disappointing at Caulfield last start after having the gun run. The barrier is horrible and that alone puts a line through her hopes.

13. Do Ra Mi

Bumped into Serious Speed in the Vanity after looking like she’d kick on to win. She is rock hard fit and should spear across to be on the speed. She’s right in this.

14. Off And Laughing

Good winner first up but this is much harder. Will have to do a stack of work if she wants to lead and I don’t think she is good enough to win.

15. Booklet

Was a bit plain in the Armanasco. Sat well back on the rail but didn’t really do much in the run home. On her home track for this, that may spark improvement.

16. Frenetica

Barrier 18…It’ll have to take all of Dwayne Dunn’s skills to get this filly home from the carpark.

17. Iridescente

Didn’t mind her win the other day at Sandown. She is talented, but again class may find her out. A first four hope.

18. Dance Of The Ocean

Not here.
