Race 1. (18:15) Tab Mdn Hcp 1250m
3 Citizenship (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on debut but I do think he has a bit on these and confident it’ll be a winning debut. He was prepped in Sydney during the Autumn, with an eye towards the Slipper, but nothing eventuated. Spelled, sent back to Victoria and his two jumpout wins at Cranbourne have been impressive, the latest one with J Kah aboard and he moved very nicely. Gets T Clark, lands on speed and should be too good.
1 Step Aside (Bet Now: $SP.00) is suited back to 1250m IMO. I’ve been with him in both career outings and each time he has had every chance on speed but hasn’t been able to finish the race on well enough to win. Just hasn’t been able to attack the line with purpose so back in trip looks a positive and J Mac is back aboard, so he has a bit in his corner to go close.
4 Mutsuhito (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like he will want further than this but I am always wary with these Waller first starters given they can trial like a donkey but come out and look like a star on race day. I don’t think he’s a start but despite beating one home in his latest trial, he moved well enough to suggest he can be a first four threat.
Race 2. (18:45) Furphy Hcp 1250m
Market will be interesting with 1 Outlawed (Bet Now: $SP.00) given she is first up and could have a headless T Berry riding. But ability wise, I think she has a bit on these. She debuted at Hawkesbury back in September at Hawkesbury and was good in defeat after doing a bit of work, just pipped late bu Dashing Legend, who is city class and Stakes placed, so that form clearly reads well for this and the two trials have been encouraging.
2 Canada Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. She has placed in all three runs this time in, the latest coming at Nowra where she attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but was no match late for Clovelly, who had been bursting to win a maiden for some time. If this track is playing up/in, she has the right racing pattern to take advantage of it.
If the first two are no good, the best at odds is clearly 3 Episodic (Bet Now: $SP.00), who is on debut for Chris Waller. This girl has had two trials to get ready for start one. First trial she was ridden right out and found the line very well before being under a hold behind them in the second trial. Should do no work in the run from the gate and she’ll be strong at the end. Backing Outlawed and a peanut each way this girl.
Race 3. (19:15) Racing And Sports (Bm72) 1250m
Joe Pride horse finding Blinkers is usually a good recipe so it’s a speck for me with 3 Anagain (Bet Now: $SP.00). I’ve been with her in two of her three runs this time in, the latest at Warwick Farm where she was a total forgive given she tried to make a run herself and couldn’t sustain it, feeling the pinch late. Hopefully she can get a drag into the race, or suck up the fence. Either way, she’ll launch at the end.
9 Rocketeer Girl (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to get past. That is what she did last time at this track/distance, producing sustained speed from the front and gave them a galloping lesson in a dominant display. Drawn wide, but should find the front comfortably and if she gets some level of control, she’ll take catching.
1 Flower Moon (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Maher/Eustace trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since August 17 over 1550m here when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Bacio Del Mist, who is a city class horse, so the form reads well, she can sprint nicely on the fresh side and has trialled up well enough. Watch the market.
Race 4. (19:45) The Agency Real Estate (Bm72) 1200m
6 True Crime (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me. Kim Waugh trained three year old that resumed at Wyong where the market said he barely had three legs and while he didn’t win, I still thought he ran a very credible race when second to Miss Checkoni. Has that run under the belt and really, this isn’t a deep city race, so with upside and an ideal map, confident he measures up.
7 Minouche (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a daughter of Written Tycoon for James Cummings that resumes. She hasn’t raced since August 8 at Sandown when not firing after getting a suck run and really, was terrible behind Do You Reckon, beaten 12 lengths. Couple of trials to get ready for her return, her best is certainly good enough, so watch the market.
3 Lancaster Bomber (Bet Now: $SP.00) loves getting his toe in so he gets conditions to suit to run a much improved race. Few weeks between runs since racing at Randwick where he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Dehorned Unicorn. Much better suited at this level and with a wet track on the cards, don’t pen him.
Race 5. (20:15) Blue Point First Yearl. (Bm72) 1900m
$8+ was available for 2 Arnold (Bet Now: $SP.00) and that seems baffling. At his best, he’s an odds on chance against these. Forgive/forget first up when not suited by the sit/sprint and then last start, he pulled up with Cardiac Arrhythmia. Trucked in the tick over trial despite running last and was strong through the line. If he was $2.50/thereabouts, I’d say steer clear, but $5+, against this lot, he’s a great bet to find out how well he’s going.
3 Whangaehu (Bet Now: $SP.00) saves his best for the track, he maps ideally and gets J Mac so he has a bit in his corner. Nash gave him an absolute peach when winning two weeks ago at this track/distance. Not sure he was comfortable in the going but Nash lifted him when it mattered. Should lob into a lovely spot from the gate and prove hard to beat.
6 Olympic Gaze (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to include in exotics. Paul Perry has him flying without winning. Just took forever to wind into his work last time at Warwick Farm but was quite good late in the piece when third to Just Business. Back to 1900m is interesting and likely will drift back to near last but will be one of the strongest at the end I am sure.
Race 6. (20:45) Svm Roseville Kia (Bm72) 1100m
8 Latenighttoughguy (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the pony to beat for Chris Waller. Former Hong Kong galloper that had his first run for Waller at Gosford and despite not appearing to handle the tight track, once he balanced up in the straight, he savaged the line and was impressive in winning, clocking the best late splits of the meeting. Lobs into a lovely spot from the gate, gets J Mac and has more upside than most.
4 Julian Rock (Bet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns for an inside gate but I am convinced he is going well. He ran here two weeks ago and found the line pretty well from the back when a close up fourth to Diamond Dealer. There is the potential for him to get buried back on the fence but if the breaks go his way, he will launch late.
7 Fleet Air (Bet Now: $SP.00) Arm is second up here for Kris Lees and is a knockout hope with luck from the gate. Market wanted him with confidence when resuming here in early December and seemingly had every chance but was plain late in the piece behind Xpresso. The break between runs interests me and is drawn tricky but I am respecting the market push first up.
Race 7. (21:15) Yes Yes Yes First Yearl.-Bm72 1550m
4 Yoshino (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be around the mark for James Cummings. First two runs for the prep were solid enough before going to Randwick a few weeks ago where he had to really dig in late to get the win but credit to him, he found when asked and lifted to get the win. He probably isn’t the most brilliant horse going around but is tough and will dig in if required. Definite winning chance.
1 Rockribbed (Bet Now: $SP.00) lumps the big weight and for mine is much better suited on top of the ground, but this is a race lacking serious depth. He’s had two runs back from a spell, the latest coming at Warwick Farm when a close up third to Ka Bling. If the track is okay and the rain doesn’t hit it too hard, he likely wins, but I’d want $3+ before entertaining him as a bet.
9 Karlstad (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the Blinkers back on and can be an improver. He ran over the mile at Warwick Farm last time and was just a bit one paced when J Mac asked for the effort but was solid to the line behind Duke Of Buckingham. Blinkers back on, good third up record, track/distance winner and will be strong late, so he’s one of the winning threats.
