2/5/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Cranbourne

12 Titahi Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the key threat. Mark Walker trained filly that is on debut off the back of an electric jumpout win here when on speed before being clicked up and moved with real purpose to win. Melham rode in the jumpout and she sticks here, which is a good lead.

1 Alphabet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Farnan that is on debut for Team Freedman. She has had a couple of jumpouts to get ready for start one and has looked good each time, the latest seeing her win at Caulfield Heath. Hard to beat.

4 Artie Lady (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Flying Artie that is on debur. Brideoake/Jenkins trains this filly, who has been jumping out since Feb 19 this prep to get ready for start one, so the grounding is well and truly there, so I’d say watch betting.

8 Touchdown (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Team Hayes trains this son of Almanzor that is on debut off the back of three jumpouts, each time catching the eye with the way he moved. Good grounding for a 1400m debut, and the stable is flying at present so happy to be in his corner.

10 Whateley (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came at Caulfield Heath when on speed and he was there to win but just found one better in Terilee. Good upside/improvement to come and with home track advantage, rates highly.

11 Enchanted Jenni (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an Alex Rae trained filly that resumes. She has had one run for the stable, which came over 1200m at Pakenham when down the track behind a very nice horse, Heavenly Shades. Given the break, jumpout work has been strong and fresh at 1400m signals intent.

1 Ballistic Blue (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1300m after debuting over 1000m here two weeks ago where he was run off his legs early but he picked up and was very strong late when second to Finance Shogun. The draw is tricky but off the debut, good upside/improvement to come, he takes beating.

5 Whiplash (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Sweynesse that is on debut for Team Hayes. He has had extensive jumpout work and preps to get ready for start one, with three jumpouts this prep. The latest saw him win a couple of weeks ago at Werribee and moved quite well so keen to see how he goes against these.

3 Excelalot (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for David Noonan, having not raced since March 10 at Warrnambool when off speed and chased solidly enough, but did have his chance I thought. Gets in well after the claim and fresh legs at 1300m I find interesting.

12 Written Story (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in four career outings and is knocking on the door to break the maiden tag. I think she gets a great chance here. Latest run was over the mile at Caulfield Heath when off speed and chased with purpose in the straight in a good effort in defeat behind Show Of Gold. Maps to get the beaut run in transit and be effective late.

3 Sumo Sandy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for Busuttin/Young since racing over this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and I thought he had his chance but couldn’t quite see it through, run down late. Good racing style, he’s a key threat.

5 Tassron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can win without surprising. He debuted at Seymour over the mile when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite finish the job and had to settle for a second to Gold Relay. I think he’ll get a good run in transit, perhaps with a bunny to chase, and can threaten.

Going to take a chance on 4 Brandjam (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who resumes as a gelding for Glen Thompson. He hasn’t raced since Melbourne Cup Day down the straight at Flemington when outclassed behind Manolo Bling. Had the ultimate operation, been given a good break and has jumped out well.

2 Bons To Riches (Bet Now:  $SP.00) creates interest. Formerly with Wendy Kelly but he now finds himself with Alex Rae. He hasn’t raced since Nov 15 at The Valley where he was too bad to be true and the vet confirmed post race as the horse bled. New stable, strong jumpout work, watch betting.

14 Amraam (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout for Cliff Brown. He gave them a spanking at Stony Creek two back before going to Pakenham where he finished down the track after getting a good run in transit. Looks a short course type so is suited to 1000m…knockout hope.

Leaning towards 12 Hot Pursuit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Thomas Nikolic. She ran over 1300m here last time out where she got off speed and kept chasing in the straight in a good effort in defeat behind Stormfront. Like her up to 1400m, can settle closer and gets in well after the claim.

8 Lady Brightside (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect off the back of a debut win over this track/distance. She got into a decent spot near the speed and had to knuckle down late to win but credit to her, she did and was impressive. Good test here against likely types, but think she can measure up.

3 Quite The Lass (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run after resuming over 1200m at Sandown. She was just run off her legs and was never a factor but did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat behind Tango Jewel. Fitter, up in trip, she’s a threat at odds.

5 Ahha Ahha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one to beat, and clearly. Three weeks between runs for Clinton McDonald since a track/distance maiden win where she got on speed comfortably and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win by a space. Lands in a plum spot and strikes a winnable race.

8 Grouse Mountain (Bet Now:  $SP.00) had been knocking on the door to break the maiden status but kept finding one or two better. That all changed last time over 1300m here when on speed, booted clear in the straight and had enough in hand to score. Back to 1200m, small field, she’s a threat.

3 Sweet Jasmine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Price/Kent, she now finds herself with Luke Oliver. Her last run came over 1400m at Warrnambool on March 10 when third, which followed an impressive win at Kilmore. Jumpout last week was strong, watch betting.

2 Typhoon Harmony (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will do me in the last. Peter Gelagotis trained gelding that was near the speed at Bendigo last start and he tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when second to impressive winner Scheelite. Gets in well after the claim, will press forward and take beating.

10 Boardrider (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect here for Clinton McDonald. He resumed over 1300m at Bendigo where he was a real eye catcher against the pattern, working home with real purpose from the back behind Heavenly Eagle. Fitter and up in trip, he takes beating.

9 Staunch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Matt Laurie trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Dec 6 at The Valley over 2500m when far from disgraced in defeat behind Roaring Engine. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and his jumpout work has been encouraging.
