2/3/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Nine races will be run and won at Morphettville Parks on Saturday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out three metres for the remainder.

3 Mesrour (Bet Now: $6.00) on top but it’s not a race I want to spend too much time on. He debuts for Richards/Moyle and is bred to be handy, which is why he is on top, as well as being trained by a leading camp with younger horses. Market will be the main guide but in a nothing race, he’s the way I am leaning on suspicion.

1 Darknconfidential (Bet Now: $5.50) is one to keep an eye on. Son of Cosmic Force that debuts for Stuart Gower off the back of a trial here a few weeks ago where he was well held but I didn’t think he moved too bad in defeat when beaten four lengths in a solid effort. Stable can get them to fire early on in a prep/career, so watch the market.

6 Uki Rain (Bet Now: $13.00) should be better for the debut run under the belt, which came on the course proper here three weeks back. He was just run off his legs and was never a winning factor but I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Talisay. Better for the run, fitter, race sense now, I think he shouldn’t be dismissed.

7 Lingani (Bet Now: $4.20) is a filly I have plenty of time for and I think could be a good thing here. Should have won on debut at Balaklava but had no luck in the straight. She then went to Kangaroo Island where she was an alarming drifter in betting but nobody told her that because she won by an absolute space and could have won by further. She is blacktype class IMO and confident she gets there via a win here.

2 Sentimental Flame (Bet Now: $2.80) is a daughter of Kermadec for Travis Doudle that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Cranbourne Cup Day when game in defeat over 2025m in a solid 3YO race won by Motorace. Can’t find a jumpout/trial for her but she sprints well fresh and she does have a touch of quality, so watch the market.

4 Global Turn (Bet Now: $4.00) stays at 1400m, which could be a potential query, but she is a nice filly heading in the right direction. She was a month between runs when racing two weeks ago at this track/distance where she got back to near last in the run and did make up really good headway without threatening behind Altruist. If she can settle closer and be within range, she’ll take beating.

2 Dual Fuel… (Bet Now: $4.00) what an incredible turnaround from this mare. She looked like a camel once upon a time, a non winner, a milk drinker…but since going to Oakbank three back, she has won all three races since, she was dominant two weeks ago and is stamping herself as just about #1 seed for the Adelaide Cup IMO. Remarkable turnaround and I see no reason to jump off her.

1 Yuri Royale (Bet Now: $7.50) is hard fit and racing well for Team Jolly. He ran second to Dual Fuel a fortnight back where he was in a lovely spot and presented to win but just had no answers for the finale of the very much in form mare. Off that run, I doubt she turns the tables but is honest and should be around the mark.

3 Wheels (Bet Now: $3.00) is three weeks between runs for Andrew Gluyas since winning over 2500m on the course proper here where she got the dream run in transit just off the speed before she tracked up, getting the ideal drag into the race, and she made an absolute mess of them late. Potentially heads towards the Adelaide Cup, so keen to see how she goes here.

8 Run Like Hell (Bet Now: $5.00) looks the leader and the winner. Maddie Raymond trained mare that comes back to Adelaide off the back of a dominant all the way win over 1100m at Colac, leading throughout and produced sustained speed from the outset in an outstanding display. Has great early toe, finds the front and is hard to get past.

4 Bristler (Bet Now: $2.20) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to get past. He comes into this after winning a 955m race at The Valley where he led throughout and he was tough in winning, just. End of the race is the query but with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.

6 Old Time Rock (Bet Now: $23.00) is an Andrew Clarken trained gelding that comes into this off the back of a strong win at The Valley where he sat on speed and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. He’s a beauty that is in career best form and should prove hard to beat against this lot.

5 Scenic Host (Bet Now: $4.80) is racing well for Michael O’Leary. She ran over 2000m at Naracoorte last time out and was solid from near the speed, sticking on gamely in defeat behind Farooq, who would be $1.50 against these, so that form clearly reads well and slightly back in trip, drops in grade/depth, she rates as the one to beat for mine.

4 Karaka Kiwi (Bet Now: $3.70) has only won the one race but he is a horse with city class ability for Jordan Frew. He ran over 1800m three weeks ago on the course proper here and was game after sitting near the speed, finishing third to West Cliff. On breeding, 1950m should be fine and in what appears to be a relatively thin race, I think he commands respect.

9 Group Think (Bet Now: $21.00) hasn’t been too bad this time in and is in with a shout at a price. The two runs back have come at Port Lincoln where each time he has got back and found the line well enough I thought. Third up, hard fit and up in trip…doubt he wins, but can pinch a first four spot.

6 Misludi (Bet Now: $3.90) is knocking on the door to bounce back for Phillip Stokes. This mare was an impressive first up winner on Boxing Day before two runs where on face value, she has been just fair but for the most part, she hasn’t had a great deal of luck, the latest being two weeks ago behind Desert Dancing. Back a touch in depth, she’ll take beating.

5 Yeelanna (Bet Now: $16.00) is flying for Matty Seyers and deserves a crack in town. This mare has won two on the bounce, letting down nicely to win at Balaklava before a nice effort at Gawler when giving them a start and a beating in a very strong performance. She is a track/distance winner and is in a purple patch so for mine, she is one of the leading chances.

10 Kristobel (Bet Now: $6.00) took an absolute eternity to win another race but that win came a fortnight back here over 1300m. She got into a lovely spot just off the speed before presenting to win and credit to her, she dug in when required to get a well deserving win. Now her confidence is up, she can go on with it.

5 Zanthron (Bet Now: $10.00) took a little while to break the maiden tag and now that he has, he can certainly go on with it. That win was a track/distance win from two weeks ago where he got into a good spot on speed before being clicked up and he was strong late in winning. Not a deep race this so off a win, he commands respect.

3 In My Room (Bet Now: $2.15) has potential Stakes class aspirations for the upcoming Carnival and if indeed he is to head down that path, he’d want to be winning. I just can’t dive into him at the shorts given he let me down badly last time, albeit was wide no cover and did too much work in a total forgive. Debut win was dominant so he has the talent. Just too short.

7 Runaway Belle (Bet Now: $15.00) is hit and miss at times but she is a mare who is talented and seems to have found a groove after a strong first up win at Murray Bridge where gave them a start and a beating, finishing best to score. She seems to race best early on in a prep and with fresh legs into this, she rates highly.

10 Tapinforpar (Bet Now: $2.80) is an absolute model of consistency for Richards/Moyle that rates as one of the leading contenders. He comes back to 1400m after racing over 1550m last time out here two weeks ago. He tried to make a wide sustained move and was gallant but couldn’t quite get the job done when third to Pearl Adios. Back to 1400m, hard fit, he appeals.

1 My Khalifa (Bet Now: $4.00) is on the seven day back up after resuming last Saturday in the City Of Marion where he got a fair way out of his ground but he rocketed to the line late in the piece in an excellent effort behind Snapped. Saves his best for the track/distance and if the back is up, he clearly rates highly.

Staying at 1400m I find interesting with 5 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $19.00) but he is a handy horse for Michael Hickmott that has good upside to come off a pleasing return, which came here a fortnight back behind Wild Imagination where he had every chance but was close up and sound in defeat. Good second up record, I’d consider him a definite winning chance.

6 Tahnee Treasure (Bet Now: $2.60) is racing in a purple patch for Peter Hardacre and commands respect. This girl has won two on the bounce, bolting up at Balaklava two back before a dominant win here two weeks ago over 1400m, and the way she won there, 1550m is fine, and the way she’s racing, she is one of the leading chances.

2 Rising Legend (Bet Now: $5.00) is racing in a purple patch for Chris Bieg and commands respect. This guy ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he attempted to lead throughout and he gave a very strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed right on the peg by Pearl Adios. Good racing style, hard fit, in form…likeable.

8 Rabtat (Bet Now: $15.00) can improve, especially up in trip. This guy ran a few weeks back on the course proper here and he was just too bad to be true, finishing tailed off last behind Just Like Lisa. If you can ignore that last start flop, the runs prior suggest a win was near so watch the market, especially with this camp.
