2/3/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sandown

I’m pretty keen here on 2 Golden Vitrine (Bet Now: $2.60). On debut for the Maher/Eustace camp and his two jumpouts this time in have been good pieces of work, a narrow second in the first heat before winning at Colac and what I liked in that jumpout was that when John Allen pushed at him, there was an instant response. Keen.

3 Heavenly Eagle (Bet Now: $2.50) looks to have his share of talent. Debuted over this track/distance two weeks ago and tried his guts out from off the speed, looking the winner but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Chain. If he runs up to that, he’s a key threat, but I will say the depth here is stronger.

4 I Am Yours (Bet Now: $5.50) should be suited up to 1300m for Team Hawkes. Debuted over 1100m at Werribee where he got a mile out of his ground and spotted them way too much head start but was good late when third. Can settle much closer in the run and gets a significant jockey upgrade.

Leaning towards 10 Wok Star (Bet Now: $6.00), on debut for the Busuttin/Young camp. This filly has had a couple of jumpouts at Cranbourne to get ready for start one and has looked pretty sharp to the eye, winning them both and moving well. Wide draw, but I do like horses drawn wide with speed in these 1000m chute races.

1 Va Via (Bet Now: $2.10) gets the Blinkers first time but there is a genuine query on the James Cummings juveniles as a whole as to whether they’re much good. This filly contested the Blue Diamond Prelude where she got back off the speed and worked home okay behind Revolutionary Miss, who of course went so well in the Blue Diamond. That is the A1 form. Just not sure about this stable at the moment.

3 Exceed The Dream (Bet Now: $11.00) is a well bred filly for Phillip Stokes that is having start one. She had a recent Pakenham jumpout where she settled behind the speed and was asked for an effort, but did respond and worked to the line pretty well. Bred to be a good one so watch the market.

Want to give 1 All Stardom (Bet Now: $3.30) another chance. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he wanted to do plenty wrong under Williams until he pulled the whip into the left hand and he charged late to just miss out on picking up Universal Lady. Gets a strong left handed whip rider in Will Gordon and he’s a rider in form.

2 Kev’s Girl (Bet Now: $4.80) has great early toe and that is suited for these 1000m races from the chute. Looked the winner when racing in the race mentioned above. Just got the staggers the final few strides and nabbed late by Universal Lady. She’ll lead and look the winner. Last 50m will test.

7 Hydro Star (Bet Now: $9.00) was a potential Stakes class horse early on in his career but he has gone completely off the boil. Interesting to see how he goes here fresh because his recent jumpout win at Mornington was sharp and when asked for an effort, he showed good change up speed. Keen to see how he goes.

If 1 Grid (Bet Now: $9.50) is ready to go, he wins. Whether this is a barrier trial for it, not sure, but on form alone from Ireland/England, he is just miles too good for this lot. Close up behind Bolshoi Ballet, a placing behind Fourhometwo…that’s really strong form. Market will tell you if he’s ready. If there is the market push, bet with confidence.

4 Crystal Chief (Bet Now: $4.60) has been pretty good in two runs back from a break. Wasn’t too bad fresh here on the Lakeside track. Then went to Pakenham when sitting back, wide with cover and launched late to finish right over the top for a strong win. Only third up suggests he’s got good room for improvement.

6 Netanyahu (Bet Now: $4.20) is an improver at odds. Good at his Australian debut on the Lakeside track before going to the Crystal Chief race mentioned above when wide throughout and just felt the pinch late. Third up so just about at peak fitness and Ollie is back aboard.

1 Heljami (Bet Now: $12.00) is a horse I could easily have a saver on her if she’s decent odds. Resumed over 1400m at Pakenham where she got dragged back from the wide and just couldn’t get involved when down the track behind Takissacod. Back miles in grade/depth and can settle much closer in the run from gate one.

4 Write The Score (Bet Now: $7.00) is racing really well at the moment. Stablemate of Bronzba that has the right racing pattern to give herself every chance. Got complete control in front at Pakenham last time and no doubt the ride in front won the race. If she leads and gets control again, she’ll take catching.

7 Kanzai (Bet Now: $8.00) has a tricky draw to overcome but I think she’s racing well for the Nigel Blackiston camp. Ran over 1800m here last time out and tried hard from off the speed but was no match for Castlereagh Kid, who won on the weekend, so the form reads well and I do think back to the mile is a big tick.

6 Zidler (Bet Now: $6.50) looks a real one batter so I do think the rise to 2400m looks perfect. He ran over 2040m at The Valley last time out where he was racing in restricted room at a crucial stage and was okay late when clear. He’s racing like he wants a bigger track and further, which he gets here.

5 Oh So Far (Bet Now: $2.90) is a Mick Kent trained mare that has found winning form and no reason why she can’t hold it. Dominant win two weeks ago at this track/distance, landing some really good bets in the process. She was second up off a five week break so you’d like to think there is improvement to come.

8 Delta Tango (Bet Now: $13.00) deserves another chance. Blinkers went on two back to spank them at Ararat. I thought she was plain at The Valley last time but I do think getting onto a bigger track and Johnny Allen getting back on are two big ticks, so I think she’s a big improver here.

7 Yukon (Bet Now: $1.75) is bursting to win a race for Team Hawkes. I thought he had his chance on the Kenso track last time given he was on a moderate speed, but he did run second and the third horse was beaten at Randwick by a Sydney Cup candidate in Surefire, so the form does read quite well.

8 Irish Butterfly (Bet Now: $4.00) is knocking on the door to win one. He was five weeks between runs when racing over 1800m at Caulfield three weeks ago and worked to the line okay late without threatening behind a pretty progressive animal, Worthily. Better for the run under the belt, this is a very winnable race.

2 Harmysian (Bet Now: $17.00) is an interesting runner. Former French galloper that had a three run Spring prep where he didn’t fire a shot, but I will say he was placed in races he had zero chance. 1800m fresh tells me he’s here to run well and has jumped out okay.

I think Team Hayes have a smart filly on their hands in the shape of 12 Always On My Mind (Bet Now: $4.60), a blueblood by Deep Impact out of former top mare Stay With Me. She produced an electric finale to win on debut over 1400m at Pakenham, really savaging the line late to win. She’ll eat up the mile, can settle closer from the draw and it’s all upside with her.

2 Pounding (Bet Now: $3.40) is racing really well at the moment for Peter Moody. I was quite keen on his chances here two weeks ago but he just took a bit too long to wind into his work, surging late to just miss. Like that he gets to the mile and is in well after the claim. Just where does he get to in the run.

1 The Cunning Fox (Bet Now: $12.00) is the watch horse given he’s potentially on a Derby path. Hasn’t raced since January 15 when a strong on speed winner over 2000m at Flemington, so he’s the proven horse in the field. Just think he might use this as a prep run for potentially an Alister Clark. Market will be the guide.
