Sandown Lakeside will play host to an eight race program on Wednesday. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is good (4) and the rail is out four metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (15:40) Ladbroke It (rs0mw) 1300m
To my eye, nothing at the jumpouts has set the world on fire, so I’ll go with the race experienced 5 Toronto Terrier (Bet Now: $3.80). He debuted at the midweeks at Caulfield and I thought he stuck to the task pretty well, albeit was not a threat to No Diggity, who looks above average. He’ll appreciate 1300m and the race experience is a big tick.
3 Space Journey (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Tosen Stardom colt for Team Corstens that is on debut. He comes here off the back of a recent jumpout win at Flemington where he led most of the way and looked to go quite nicely under no real pressure. Bred to appreciate 1300m and beyond, so keen to see how he goes.
4 Suizoro (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Busuttin/Young trained colt having start one. Son of Real Impact that led throughout to win a recent Cranbourne jumpout where he led most of the way. What was good to the eye is that when asked for an effort, he responded nicely and ran solid time. He’ll give cheek.
Race 2. (16:15) Ladbrokes Switch Mdn Plate 1400m
Staying at 1400m is the only knock with 5 Healing Game (Bet Now: $2.30) otherwise he’s one of the better bets on the program. Debuted at this trip at Cranbourne where it was an ugly watch if you were on. Didn’t get the rub of the green at all when seemingly full of running. Got clear late and was quite good when third. J Kah on from a soft draw, he’ll take beating.
11 Susanne Joy (Bet Now: $5.50) has ability I feel. Market wanted her when she debuted over 1200m at Geelong but got stuck wide no cover and that hard run just told late when fourth to Perfect Darling. Tricky draw, but with early speed, I think she can cross and prove to be a threat.
4 Count Of Sancerre (Bet Now: $11.00) is a son of Astern for Cindy Alderson that resumes. He hasn’t raced since his debut at Pakenham on November 11 over 1400m and was pretty good late from off the speed when third. He looked quite sluggish in a recent Cranbourne jumpout, so I’d watch the market.
Race 3. (16:50) Ladbrokes Blended Bets (bm64) 1400m
6 Titan Of Choice (Bet Now: $4.80) should love the rise to 1400m for the in form Peter Gelagotis camp. Both runs from a break have come at 1200m, resuming with a maiden win at Cranbourne before heading to Pakenham and was good late when second to Sharwin. Extra 200m looks ideal and back to his own age, he appeals.
3 Pascero (Bet Now: $3.50) has his share of talent for the Busuttin/Young team. He was somewhat unwanted in betting when debuting over 1300m here on the Hillside track and he would have been a good thing beaten had he not got clear but he did get clear and surged hard late to win. Progressive and extra 100m is a big tick.
4 Dayan Star (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Zoustar colt for Team Corstens that comes to town off the back of a spank job win at Cranbourne where he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in. On speed/fence is the A1 spot at Cranbourne under the lights, so perhaps a tad flattered, but visually, it was sharp.
Race 4. (17:25) Ladbrokes Blended Multis (c1) 1200m
Bit of guessing involved but I’ll take a chance with the former Kiwi 1 Netanyahu (Bet Now: $3.50), who is making his Australian debut for the Danny O’Brien camp. He did little wrong in a six start career in NZ, winning the one race and being around the mark every start. Went quite well in a recent Flemington jumpout when leading throughout and going quite nicely. Ollie rode there and he sticks with him here.
3 Savvy Sovereign (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Maher/Eustace trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since August 13 when close up over 1400m at Geelong in what was a fairly moderate 58 but he was just three and taking on older horses. Has jumped out okay to get ready and is in okay after the claim.
5 Grinzinger Prince (Bet Now: $9.00) comes to town with a win on the board, that win being a maiden at Yarra Valley where he really savaged the line late when clear to get up and win impressively. There looks to be a bit of depth to this line up, but I think he’s capable of measuring up.
Race 5. (18:00) Stud/stable Staff Awards-bm70 3000m
7 Alienated (Bet Now: $23.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at odds. Proven performer at the trip, and that being recent as well. Won at the trip two back at Cranbourne before going to 2500m at the Valley and just found them a bit sharp behind Swelter Magic. Up in trip, gate one with Frog on board, he only runs well.
5 Mr Blackwood (Bet Now: $4.80) is a very interesting runner for Cindy Alderson. It was a pretty ordinary field last start at Moe but he made an absolute mess of them and was dominant from off the speed. That was a barrier trial essentially so if this becomes a proper 3000m test, not sure how he goes, but lightly raced with more upside than most.
6 Sir Peter (Bet Now: $8.00) is another lightly raced stayer engaged here, this one with the Gavin Bedggood polish. He attempted to lead throughout in the 3000m Cranbourne race mentioned above that Alienated won. He tried his guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off, having to settle for a third. He’ll run an honest race.
Race 6. (18:30) Ladbrokes Money Back (bm64) 1600m
1 Here To Shock (Bet Now: $2.20) is having his third run from a long break and should just about be at peak fitness. He comes through the Blazejowski race from a few weeks back where was near the speed throughout but just lacked the change up speed to go with them late, finishing fourth. He can fire here.
8 Bronzba (Bet Now: $6.50) is a talented mare for the Price/Kent team that resumed at Geelong where she was heavily backed in betting throughout and under a confident steer from Johnny Allen, she really attacked the line late to get up and record a big first up win. Fitter and up to the mile, I think she’ll take beating provided she gets luck from the draw.
7 Baglioni (Bet Now: $8.00) should appreciate the rise to the mile. Resumed over 1400m here two weeks back and was a real eye catcher from off the speed when a close up fourth to a progressive animal, Logan Street Lion. Got plenty of upside to come and is a knockout chance.
Race 7. (19:00) Ladbrokes Same Race Multi-bm64 1400m
10 Ocean’s Jen (Bet Now: $2.00) is a progressive mare that is heading in the right direction. Market wanted her second up at Cranbourne and if you were on, there wasn’t much room for concern and she was a dominant winner. More depth here, but respecting her off last start.
1 D’Jumbuck (Bet Now: $3.50) looks the only threat after scratchings. He ran over 1200m here two weeks ago and worked to the line quite strongly late from off the speed when third to tough winner Megamea. He should love the rise to 1400m and with the scratchings, the race as a whole is thin, so he commands respect.
4 Our August Rose (Bet Now: $15.00) will put herself on speed and look to give her all. Several weeks between runs since being on speed at Stawell where she gave a really good kick but just couldn’t quite see it through and was nabbed late by Libbyangel. She’ll give a bold sight.
Race 8. (19:30) Ladbrokes Fast Withdrawal-bm64 1200m
2 Safe Passage (Bet Now: $4.80) brings somewhat of a class edge and I think that can get her home fresh here for Danny O’Brien. Hasn’t raced since July 24 when producing an absolute howler at Caulfield, finishing tailed off last behind Awapuni Princess. Has trialled and jumped out well leading, and this is a winnable race.
1 Changing Tracks (Bet Now: $7.00) is an absolute beauty for the Templeton camp. Ran down the straight at Flemington on Rapid Racing Day where she was given a peach by Frog and once she was within range, it was race over and she was impressive. Off that, she commands respect here.
4 Halvoya (Bet Now: $19.00) is starting to put it together this time in. Market wanted her at Moe last time and despite spotting them a big start down the side, she motored late to record a big and dominant win. Good test here as she comes to town, but now seems the right time.
