Group l racing returns to Randwick this Saturday where it is George Main Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

8 Bound To Win (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) is a quality daughter of Sebring that resumes for Team Snowden and I think she can resume with a win. Really came of age when last in work, winning a couple in town before a game second to Word For Word and was tipped out soon after. Just one trial leading in, but it was over 1000m, so it’s a decent enough grounding for this.

1 Prime Candidate (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) is a beauty for Bjorn Baker. Ran over 1200m at Rosehill three weeks ago and gee it was a smart ride from Tim Clark. Got complete control in front and once he was able to get a steady up in front, it was race over. Not sure he’ll get a total picnic here, and creeps up in weight, but is genuine.

12 Partners (Bet Now: $16.00 TOP ODDS) will likely lead this field up and give an almighty sight. That’s what he did on Wyong Cup Day, leading at a strong clip, and tried very hard, but couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Bombasay. 1200m is fine for him, should lead this field up and look the winner for a long way. Last bit will be the test.

15 It’s Me (Bet Now: $1.75 TOP ODDS) is my 2021 Country Championships pony. Not sure about her being a Kosciuszko horse in a few weeks, think it might be too soon for her, but before that, is racing here and she should make it 3/3. Impressive debut win at Scone but was even more impressive when winning a Highway here a few weeks ago, producing a sparkling turn of foot. Keen on her chances once again and IMO only bad luck beats her.

4 Toro Toro (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) is a son of Time For War for the Stephen Jones team that was heading towards the Kosciuszko but probably should have done a bit more when resuming at Wyong instead of a battling sixth. But, that was a strong provincial race and he drops to a Highway, albeit likely running for second behind a smart one.

1000m is a specialist trip and both career wins for 20 Shanaya (Bet Now: $41.00 TOP ODDS) have come at the five furlongs. Latest of those wins came at Wagga where she led throughout and was dominant in winning under McDougall. 1000m does seem to be her pet trip and always respect Tash Burleigh when she brings one to town.

Tricky race but I’ll go the way of the Chris Waller trained 7 Matowi (Bet Now: $12.00 TOP ODDS). He was seven weeks between runs when racing over 1500m here two weeks ago in a race where those on speed dominated, so he didn’t have much hope, but I liked the way he closed off. He’ll come on from that run and if he can sit closer, he’ll take some beating.

9 Across Dubai (Bet Now: $9.50 TOP ODDS) looks to have come back in really good order for the Chris Waller stable. Resumed over 1500m here a fortnight back when just off the speed and though a bit one paced when the sprint went on, he stayed on and was a definite pass mark in defeat behind Just Thinkin’. Might want a bit further, but he looks in good order.

Third up from a spell, 14 Pancho (Bet Now: $20.00 TOP ODDS) should just about be at peak fitness and ready to go. He comes through the Just Thinkin’ race from two weeks ago here and on face value, he was just fair, but the tempo was a crawl and those out the back, including Pancho, had no chance. If he can sit closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous.

I’ve declared my hand for a few months that 3 Hungry Heart (Bet Now: $2.05 TOP ODDS) is the Flight Stakes winner in waiting and could even go to Melbourne and run well in a Cox Plate. I thought she was excellent in defeat first up in the Furious. Paraded like she would need the run, the market agreed, but she kept finding the line when second to Dame Giselle. She’ll eat up 1400m and all things being equal, she wins this and the Flight.

1 Dame Giselle (Bet Now: $2.90 TOP ODDS) reminds me of Libertini. Brilliant 1200m horse, but has to be a query at a strong 1400m. In saying that, she was very good in the Furious, sitting wide no cover for the trip and was there to be run down, but had the race fitness under the belt and was too good. Can she stretch her brilliance to 1400m?

8 Montefelia (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) is a quality filly for David Payne who I dare say has eyes towards the Spring Champion so whatever she does here, she will improve on, but has quality. Strong win over 1500m at Rosehill and was freshened up with the Spring in mind. Closed off well in a tick over trial and she’ll be strong at the end.

5 Probabeel (Bet Now: $2.50) is ticking along beautifully towards the Epsom and Golden Eagle. Resumed four weeks ago in the Show County and she was visually, one of the runs of the day when beaten narrowly. Tick over trial was quite good and her second up record is fabulous. I think she’ll take a power of beating against this lot.

7 Reloaded (Bet Now: $4.00) needs a win to cement some form of confidence in readiness for the Epsom and I think he can get that here. Resumed in the Tramway and I say unlucky as well. Just got held up by a couple of stayers that couldn’t drag him to the leaders. Got clear late and worked home well. Only won the one race, but he’s a good horse.

2 Brandenburg (Bet Now: $6.00) can bounce back here for sure. Talented four year old for John Sargent that resumed in the Winx Stakes and just did too much work near a brutal speed, finishing down the track behind Verry Elleegant. Tick over trial indicates he has recovered from that resumption and this is a winnable race at his best.

6 Verry Elleegant (Bet Now: $2.35) picks herself. Was an outstanding effort to win the Winx Stakes given the midrace work she did, and keep in mind she was fresh, so was there to be run down but showed really good ticker to get the job done, like the top class horses do, and she’s well and truly top class. Up to the mile is idea, got upside and her work between races last Saturday was sharp.

5 Star Of The Seas (Bet Now: $9.00) is very much deserving of a big race win and I don’t think many would begrudge him a win here. Resumed in the Winx Stakes and Clipperton rode an absolute peach on the galloper, but couldn’t quite get the win and had to settle for second to Verry Elleegant. Tick over trial was good and is knocking on the door.

4 Imaging (Bet Now: $9.50) is tracking towards the Epsom and this should top him off nicely. But, who is to say he can’t win this? Could easily make a case that he should have won the Winx Stakes had he got a clear path in the straight instead of an interrupted passage. Another that worked very well between races last Saturday and is a chance for sure.

I think 3 Classique Legend (Bet Now: $5.00), albeit will likely improve off this, can make a statement re the Everest with a win here. Hasn’t been sighted since winning the Bob Charley at Randwick where he was on a wet track, first up since the Spring, with class getting him home. Tick over trial at Newcasle was very good and he looks spot on for the Spring.

Great to see 2 Catalyst (Bet Now: $8.00) back in Australia and could he make a statement re the Everest? His GF is the Golden Eagle, but off what he has produced in NZ, he is sharp. Ran twice at Flemington during the Autumn, with the first run being that memorable clash with Alligator Blood in the CS Hayes before finishing down the track in the Guineas. Loved the trial back home in NZ…a knock could be the jockey booking. As good as Bossy is, his last 80 odd metro rides have resulted in three wins.

7 Standout (Bet Now: $4.60) has been tuned right up for a first up assault based off his trials. Ryan/Alexiou trained four year old that resumes, having not raced since the All Aged when pulling up with excuses post race behind Tofane. Two trials to get ready for this return tell me he’s wound up to go, so I’d watch the market.

16 Girl Tuesday (Bet Now: $16.00) has done a really good job since joining Clarry Connors and the key to her is finding dry ground. Comes through the Premiers Cup and she found the line pretty well I thought in defeat behind Mugatoo. Randwick 2000m on dry ground looks a perfect set up for her. Problem is the depth here is so strong, but the positive is that she’s good odds.

14 Zebrowski (Bet Now: $6.00) is hard to beat. Team Hawkes trained four year old that was good late fresh in the Winx Stakes. Went to the mile of the Chelmsford and was okay late without threatening behind Mister Sea Wolf. The rise to 2000m looks perfect for him and a significant jockey book with Hugh Bowman, who rides the horse better than anyone.

11 Carif (Bet Now: $23.00) looks to be ticking along beautifully for Team Snowden. Good late fresh in the Rowley Mile before going to the Chelmsford when ridden a bit warm but still was solid enough in defeat behind Mister Sea Wolf. Fitter and getting to a more suitable trip, he’s certainly got the ability to win this kind of race and a bit better.

Any hint of a positive ride and 10 Icebath (Bet Now: $3.90) should prove really hard to beat. Both runs back from a spell have come here, and each time she has been ridden very negatively, stone cold, and has found the line strongly. Third up now, so should just about be at peak fitness, and up to 1400m, is going to take some beating.

9 Criaderas (Bet Now: $2.30) is very progressive and is a leading chance. Son of Lonhro for James Cummings that made it 3/3 when resuming with a dominant win on the Kenso track, sitting off a reasonable speed before winding into his work and showing really good change up speed. Fitter, up to 1400m, he’s likeable for sure.

12 Starla (Bet Now: $21.00) has been up a while for Chris Waller but continues to race pretty well. Comes through the Crystal Breeze race from a fortnight ago and wasn’t too bad at all from the inside gate, beaten around 1.3L. Think a rise to 1400m will really suit her and I reckon she’s better when she gets to the outside and launches.

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 6 Verry Elleegant

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 16 Girl Tuesday
