.0The Parks track at Morphettville will play host to a nine race card on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out five metres for the remainder.

Race 1. (12:37) Terry Howe Printing (bm60) 1300m
I’m with 1 Jacks On Ice (Bet Now: $1.85) in the opener. This Team Jolly three year old has had two career outings, winning on debut at Kangaroo Island before going to Balaklava where he was blessed in run with the on speed/fence in run bias when second to Max Fire, but that horse ran a credible fourth in the Morphettville Guineas on Monday so the form clearly reads well, he should lead and take beating.
5 Princess Raffles (Bet Now: $3.50) has the A1 form to be winning this. Just not 100% sure the Parks track will be to her liking. Resumed in a maiden on the course proper and worked to the line okay without jumping up and down behind Jaazeb. Fitter and up to 1300m I do like. Just not sure the race shape/track will suit.
2 Day For It (Bet Now: $6.50) brings the Port Lincoln form and we have seen it measure up here in recent times. Just missed out on the win last time out over 1210m at Port Lincoln in a very close finish. Maps super, gets in well after the claim and overall, he strikes a thin race.
Race 2. (13:17) Adel. Carnival 30/4-21/5-bm68 1400m
2 Think Winning (Bet Now: $4.50) on top in what looks a competitive 68. He has been kept on ice, having not raced for five weeks since a plain effort on the course proper here behind Basarwa. Has had a strong tick over trial and the depth here is nowhere near as strong, so think he can bounce back.
1 Crown Mint…(Bet Now: $4.60) is he back on track? Had specking at odds when resuming at Murray Bridge and the move proved correct. He got a mile out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off when third to Munster, who ran a beauty on Monday, so the form reads well and fitter, up to 1400m, he’s likeable.
5 Rubble (Bet Now: $7.00) is racing for the third week on the bounce but he seems to be enjoying the hard racing. He was there to be beaten last Saturday here but he found plenty under pressure, fended them off and was too strong. Gets in well after the claim and should lob into a lovely spot. Likeable.
Race 3. (13:52) The Junction Hcp (c1) 1000m
I really don’t know what to do here in this race. Landed with 3 Rising Legend (Bet Now: $4.00) but not a great deal of confidence. He resumes for Scott Westover, having not raced since November 20 when placing here behind a then in form Arran Bay, so I think he brings the riht form and with a relatively small team, first up in town, you’d think he’s screwed down.
6 Daring Move (Bet Now: $3.50) is on the seven day back up for Team Jolly after racing last Saturday where when on speed and she tried hard but felt the pinch late when third to Magic Max. That does read quite strong for this and have to respect the stable backing her up straight away.
9 Madam Furphy (Bet Now: $11.00) also comes through the Magic Max race from last Saturday. She had a beaut sit in transit behind the speed and presented to win, but couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for fourth. Gets right down in the weights, she’s in with a shout.
Race 4. (14:32) Fleurieu Milk Company Mdn 1250m
2 Famous Prince (Bet Now: $4.80) has been pretty good in two career outings for Shane Oxlade. Ran in a 1200m maiden at Murray Bridge two weeks ago and liked the way he finished his race off behind Two Times Twice, finishing a close up fourth. If he can be within range, he’ll take beating.
5 Pudding (Bet Now: $6.00) is a son of Tavistock for Team Jolly that resumes. He had a two run prep in the Spring, where he ran well each time without winning. Can’t find a recent trial/jumpout for him, so a bit of guessing involved re fitness levels, but stable generally have them around the mark re fitness.
I’ll include 10 Dauntless (Bet Now: $9.50), but if you like her, you’d want decent double figures. She comes to SA after a couple of runs in Victoria to start the prep, where she hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, but have to respect the stable, plus has gate one and Barend Vorster.
Race 5. (15:07) Accolade Wines (bm86) 1000m
4 Octane (Bet Now: $11.00) is knocking on the door to win a race and I think he gets a great chance here. Ran over this trip two weeks ago at Murray Bridge where he sat off the fast speed and tried hard but was clearly no match late for Larimer Street. Been a while since he has won but he finds a very winnable race IMO.
You know what you are going to get with 6 Spanish Heirloom (Bet Now: $3.60). She’ll run along on speed, hard, and look to break their hearts. She nearly did that here a few weeks back but Brimarvi Vehero surged hard late and nutted the mare on the line. Last bit will test, but she’ll look the winner.
5 Star Hills (Bet Now: $35.00) is in with a shout. He was part of the mad speed battle at Murray Bridge with Philonize. That horse quickly dropped away but Star Hills actually stuck on pretty well to run fourth. If that hasn’t busted him, I think he could run a bold race at a price.
Race 6. (15:52) Grand Syndicates (bm64) 1550m
4 Apache Star (Bet Now: $4.60) can bounce back here for Phillip Stokes. He ran in the Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic at Murray Bridge where he just found them a bit sharp so want to be forgiving of that run. Hard fit now and back to this level, an improved showing is on the cards.
1 Lake’s Folly (Bet Now: $2.90) is on the seven day back up for Michael Hickmott after finally winning last Saturday here. He sat back and chased a strong speed, so there was merit to the performance. The query with me is that last Saturday was a hard run race. How has he come through it?
6 Rapid Raiser (Bet Now: $9.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran two weeks back at Murray Bridge and I thought he worked to the line pretty well late in the piece behind Tullys Gold, who won again on Monday, so the form reads pretty good. Just whether he wants further now is the query.
Race 7. (16:32) Furphy (bm68) 2250m
8 Comfort Girl (Bet Now: $2.45) looks to be knocking on the door for Shayne Cahill. I thought her run was full of merit last start at Balaklava given there was a serious bias towards those on speed/fence in run and she was second up at 2200m after racing over 1550m fresh. Loomed to win but condition just gave way. Hard fit now, she’ll take beating.
10 Plympton (Bet Now: $61.00) doesn’t win out of turn but I think he’s racing well for Ryan Balfour. He ran two weeks ago over 2500m at Murray Bridge where it came down to survival of the fittest and I thought he stuck to the task pretty well when fourth to Oath Of Omerta. That reads well for this.
Good test here for 7 West Cliff (Bet Now: $9.50) but I think he’s earned a crack. Loved the way he toughed it out to win last start at Starthalbyn. He was there to tire late but he kept finding under pressure and was too good. No depth to this race, so I think he commands respect.
Race 8. (17:12) Ian Hay's 60th (bm68) 1000m
Have to be with 2 Appalachian (Bet Now: $2.60). They have figured him out. Keep him fresh, don’t tax him too much and the rewards will come. 2/2 when last in work, producing a couple of electric finales from off the speed to score. Good speed in front here, he’ll get his chance to launch over the top.
1 Larkham (Bet Now: $2.90) is on the seven day back up for Ryan Balfour after winning here last Saturday, sharing the spoils in a dead heat victory. He is flying this time in. Had he drawn a better gate, I’d declare him. Just not where he gets to in the run but clearly rates highly.
5 Jonquest (Bet Now: $15.00) has run well in town before when he was trained by the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Now with Dunn/Bishop at Port Lincoln, he was a beaten favourite at that track last time out but he draws to do no work and could sneak a first four spot at a decent price.
Race 9. (18:00) Weslo Security (bm60) 1250m
13 Bludog (Bet Now: $17.00) is worth buttering up with. If you were on him last Saturday, like I was, apologies for bringing up the nightmare. He was going to be right in the finish I thought but just couldn’t get clear air and the last 200m or so was a barrier trial. He can win if he gets the rub of the green.
10 Grandma Gail (Bet Now: $4.50) looks suited here. She ran in a strong 68 at Murray Bridge two weeks ago where she was somewhat unwanted in betting but I liked the way she found the line late in the piece behind Munster in a good effort. Back to 60 grade, I think she’ll take beating here.
11 Yeelanna (Bet Now: $12.00) is on the seven day back up for David Jolly after racing here last Saturday where she was third past the post, but lost some gear in the saddle in the run and was disqualified. Prior form was sound and with luck from the gate, she’ll be around the mark.
