Race 1. (18:00) Best Of Bordeaux @ Coolmore (Bm72) 1550m
2 Hellfire Express (Bet Now: $SP.00) is absolutely flying for Annabel Neasham and has to rate as the one to beat. He has won his past three, the latest coming over this track/distance on New Years Day when giving them a start and a beating, launching from behind and producing a sustained run to win. Gets J Mac, ideal map, hard fit, in form…likeable.
3 Amati (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. Chris Waller trained mare that resumed over 1250m here on New Years Day where she was held up at times but that said, she didn’t quite quicken well enough behind Lancaster Bomber. Maps to get the perfect sit behind the speed and with luck, Nash on, she can win without totally surprising.
4 Bacio Del Mist (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope for Team Curtis. This mare resumed in the Midway a few weeks back at Randwick where she was back near last in the run and made up some headway but was never really threatening behind Miss Checkoni. Not sure I could back her to win but she is a must for multiples.
Race 2. (18:30) Precise Air Mdn Hcp 1250m
5 Setombe (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the better bets on the card IMO. This filly debuted two weeks ago here where she got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never a threat, I really liked the way she finished her race off behind Tycoon Deshauna. Up in trip is a big tick and from the inside gate, she can settle much closer and still be effective at the end.
3 It’s A Wonder (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 1250m will be ideal. She ran in the Tycoon Deshauna race mentioned above where she too got off the speed and worked home well enough in defeat to run fourth, beaten just over a length in a tidy effort. If she can use the gate and settle closer, I am convinced she’ll be there at the finish.
2 Al Flores (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beautifully bred filly on debut. She is out of the former top mare of Ron Quinton, Dixie Blossoms. She has had a couple of trials this time in to get ready for start one and each effort hasn’t been too bad. Reckon she’ll be better suited over further but on breeding alone, I think she has to be respected.
Race 3. (19:00) Prague Yearlings Selling Now Mdn Hcp 1250m
2 Groundrush (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Trapeze Artist that resumes for the Hawkes camp. This guy had a two run Spring prep to start his career, the latest run at Rosehill when placing in a maiden behind subsequent Stakes winner Arctic Glamour. Trial work to get ready has been more than encouraging and he should be strong at the end of 1250m.
3 Turned Down (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a John O’Shea trained gelding that is on debut. This guy has had one trial this time in to get ready for start one, which came over 1100m at Canterbury where he ran a close up fourth and seemingly moved well to my eye. Reckon he will want further in time but the depth here isn’t deep and the early market push says he’s here to run well.
1 Cosmic Lad (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to keep an eye on from an exotics perspective. He is a son of Adelaide for Ed Cummings that is on debut. He’s had two trials this time in to get ready, where each time he has been well held but hasn’t moved too bad from what I’ve seen. Likely will get back to last but I reckon he’ll be one that’ll finish off better than most.
Race 4. (19:30) Hyland Race Colours (Bm72) 1250m
1 Dakota Vroom (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top but not a whole lot of confidence. Chris Waller trained mare that resumed with a bang two weeks ago over 1100m here, producing a strong finale from off the speed to win and win well. Harder here, but maps to do no work, she’ll be strong late and seemingly has good upside/improvement to come.
All you can do is win and that is what 7 Tycoon Deshauna (Bet Now: $SP.00) did when debuting over 1100m here, sitting on speed throughout before taking the front and he was strong to the line in putting them away and winning well. More depth here, but stable is flying and with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.
3 Beep Test (Bet Now: $SP.00) creates interest. Formerly with John O’Shea, she now finds herself with Sam Kavanagh. This girl isn’t a noted fresh performer but has trialled well leading in to get ready for the return, the latest coming at Beaumont Newcastle when a narrow second but moved well enough. Her best is good enough to threaten. Watch the market.
Race 5. (20:00) Kia Evening Star (Bm72) 1100m
4 Oakfield Duke (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worth an each way ticket. Kris Lees trained gelding that I feel is working up to a win. He ran at the midweeks at Warwick Farm last time where he got back to near last in the run but he finished off with real purpose late in the piece behind Mr Kennedy. With luck from the gate, I think he’s going well enough to win.
9 Lovero (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a handy animal for Ryan/Alexiou that resumes. This girl last raced at Rosehill in August when near the speed and fought on really well in defeat when third to the Team Hawkes mare Petulant. She is a mare who can sprint well on the fresh side and has trialled up super in readiness for the return. Hard to beat.
8 Conceited (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Brazen Beau for Richard Litt that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 12 here when racing over 1250m and seemingly had every chance, failing to come on in the straight behind King Of Naples. He’s had two trials to get ready so the grounding is there and he strikes a race where the depth isn’t deep.
Race 6. (20:30) Cactus Imaging (Bm64) 1900m
9 Caring Lass (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the throw at the stumps for the meeting. Matty Smith trained mare that has raced over the mile her past three, the latest at Randwick where she got a fair way out of her ground but made up some headway and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Buillt. Like her up in trip and the depth here is nowhere near as deep. Great each way gamble at double figures.
14 Fleet Commander (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Bjorn Baker trained gelding that should be suited up in trip. He resumed over the mile at Gosford where he was a bit flat footed and one paced when the sprint went on but he picked up and was solid enough for his first up effort. Better suited here, can press forward and has more upside than most.
1 Jack Duggan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a proven weight carrier and comes here off a win, with that win coming over 1900m at Gosford where he wasn’t 100% happy around the tight turns but he balanced and proved quite strong to the line in winning. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s racing and commands respect.
Race 7. (21:00) The Agency Real Estate (Bm72) 1250m
10 Oakfield Mahogany (Bet Now: $SP.00) deserves a crack in town. Damien Lane trained gelding that ran at Wyong last time where he got into a decent spot behind the speed before angling clear and he got better as the race went on to win and win well. Hard to knock the way he’s racing and maps ideally again.
12 Botanica (Bet Now: $SP.00) hasn’t done much wrong in a five start career for Team Hawkes. Arrogant maiden win two back on the Beaumont track at Newcastle before going to this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and giving a solid kick but had no answers late for the finale of Lancaster Bomber. Good racing style and will look the winner for a long way.
11 Pad Thai (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Nathan Doyle trained gelding that is several weeks between runs since contesting a Midway at Randwick where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat, he worked home well enough behind Cripps Tonite. If he is within range on the turn, he has the finale to win.
