18/9/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville, WH Wylie Handicap day

Blacktype racing returns to Morphettville this Saturday where it is Whylie Handicap Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

1 Karacasu (Bet Now: $2.25) has the runs on the board and I think that will be enough to get him home fresh. Team Jolly trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since the Autumn Carnival in the David Coles when third to a quality Godolphin type, Heresy. Jumped out quite well to get ready and I’ll bank on his class getting him home.

3 Hanabi (Bet Now: $2.80) looks hard to beat for Phillip Stokes. Took her a little while to get the maiden win out of the way but she did so two weeks ago on the Parks track, finishing best from off the speed after covering ground. She has run well at this level before, so have to think she’ll do so again.

4 Madam Furphy (Bet Now: $16.00) is a Darren Magro trained filly that is three weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m on the Parks track where she put the pressure on speed and tried hard, but just felt the pinch late behind Knightstown. Reckon if she finds the front, she’ll run a cheeky race.

2 Thrill Kill (Bet Now: $4.20) looks to have returned in good order. Resumed last Wednesday at Penola where he did a bit of work on speed out wide and despite that hard run, he was there to win and looked the winner, but was nabbed near the peg. He has good city ability, so giving him another chance provided last start hasn’t busted him.

4 So You Can (Bet Now: $2.90) should prove hard to beat against this lot. Macdonald/Gluyas trained gelding that resumed three weeks ago here and kept finding the line from off the speed in a strong effort behind Tommy Blue. Only real query with him is second up syndrome off a long break.

7 Rock Harbour (Bet Now: $6.50) should be suited back to 1200m. Ran over 1400m three weeks ago on the Parks track where he seemingly had the run of the race and loomed large to win, but couldn’t quite finish it off. IMO, 1400m isn’t his go in life. Like him back to 1200m and is a key threat.

12 Ballynora (Bet Now: $1.75) is a handy filly for Phillip Stokes that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since May 1 here over 1050m at Listed level when back and making up good ground in a race which has turned out to be a decent form race. Trialled very well leading in and has the runs on the board.

4 Italian Viking (Bet Now: $3.50) looks to have a decent engine under the hood. He debuted here seven weeks ago when on speed and wide, but battled on quite strongly in defeat when second to Self Sufficient, who was backed with confidence and duly saluted. Comes here without a trial/jumpout, so he’s a market watch for sure.

1 Bosspan (Bet Now: $12.00) is a definite yard/market watch. Had one run for Nick Ryan, which came in a Sale maiden where he was hard in the market and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish the job off. Tick over trial was good, and now with Michael Hickmott, I think he has shown enough to suggest he’s got ability.

6 Larkham (Bet Now: $3.00) on top. Ryan Balfour trained gelding that resumed two weeks ago on the Parks track when near the speed throughout and loomed to win, but first up, his condition just gave way when third to Huffington. He’ll improve off that and has the brilliance to beat this lot.

4 Tullys Gold (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Ryan Balfour trained five year old that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Feb 20 when resuming over 1200m here when on speed and tiring late behind Lope De Wolf. Usually sprints well fresh and has had a good grounding for this, so watch the market.

8 La Vita (Bet Now: $7.50) should prove hard to beat for Stuart Gower. This mare resumed on the Parks track three weeks ago when off the speed and chasing strongly, just missing out on the win when second to Magic Phantom. She’s a hard horse to catch but her best is more than capable of beating this lot.

6 Rock The Ring (Bet Now: $4.80) looks to have returned in good order for the McEvoy camp. Resumed a few weeks ago on the Synthetic at Ballarat, sitting back in the run before getting clear air and charging late when second to an in form Diesel ‘N’ Dust. His second up form is very strong so if he continues that, he’ll take beating.

4 Vongole (Bet Now: $3.50) has been scratched from Caulfield in preference for this, which I think is a good lead. Resumed over this trip on the Parks track and kept coming, but had to settle for a second to Tommy Blue, who he meets here. Upside, in a good camp, likeable.

9 Echo Boomer (Bet Now: $11.00) is a watch horse. Ryan Balfour trained mare that is six weeks between her runs since her resumption at Murray Bridge where on face value, she was terrible behind Wurlies Lastchance, but was found post race to have had Atrial Fibrillation, so a total forgive. A win wouldn’t totally shock.

6 Melody Man (Bet Now: $2.40) is a very progressive galloper for Jake Stephens and confident he can make it three on the bounce. Made a mess of them over the mile here two back before racing two weeks ago on the Parks track over 1950m when backed with confidence, trucked in the run and he was miles too good. Heading in the right direction and he can win again.

5 Hinchpin (Bet Now: $6.00) has found winning form and now that he has, he can go on with it. That win came over the mile here last Saturday, surging hard late to nab them on the peg under a 12/10 steer from Vorster. The rise to 2000m is interesting, but he does have a touch of quality against some of these, who with respect are plodders.

Since 9 All Hard Wood (Bet Now: $13.00) has stepped up in trip this time in, he has been racing much better. No match for Melody Man a fortnight back but he stayed on and was quite sound in defeat behind a good horse. Think he just has to hold his form to be around the mark.

More often than not, these Will Clarken runners keep progressing and I suspect that will continue via 5 Castle Of Kings (Bet Now: $4.20), a former Kiwi who has taken a little while to find his feet down under but he got the maiden win out of the way last start at Gawler, bolting up by five in a good performance from on speed. Didn’t beat much, but that’s the confidence boost he needed to measure up in town again.

12 Wild Imagination (Bet Now: $4.20) should love the rise to the mile for Team Jolly. Looked in need of the run fresh behind the very much in form Enchantingly. Then stepped up to 1400m and surged hard late, just missing out on the win when second to Crown Mint. Like her up to the mile and has more to come.

6 Give Me Ten (Bet Now: $6.50) deserves another chance. First run for the Stokes camp came a fortnight back over 1400m on the Parks track where she was smashed in betting late and after doing a bit of work to get on speed, she tired late behind Crown Mint. Respecting the market push leading in and giving her another look.

Throw at the stumps via 14 Pimm’s Party (Bet Now: $23.00) for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Resumed on the course proper a few weeks back when supported with confidence and the way the race set up, she was sitting off a fast speed before peeling wider into clear air and she made a mess of them in an impressive return. Think she can run well at a price.

3 Bold Star (Bet Now: $6.50) has the quality to be around the mark for the Richards/Moyle camp. Resumed in the McEwen at the Valley on wet ground and couldn’t fire a shot, finishing last in a plain return. I think his days as a Melbourne class horse are done, so this looks more his level and he can bounce back.

The weather will be crucial to the chances of 11 Lakhani Rose (Bet Now: $51.00). David Jolly trained mare that has an electric finish on her but on face value, she has been disappointing this prep in two runs, but they have come on wet ground and IMO she is a far better horse on top of the ground, so if this track is on the firmer side, she can win this.

6 All In War (Bet Now: $6.00) doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates, but is capable on what she has done in recent times. Ran over 1000m at Murray Bridge last time out when back off the speed and chased strongly, making up ground, but was never a winning threat. Good record here and can take this out for sure.

9 Aston Rapova (Bet Now: $6.00) has been pretty good in a couple of runs since a mini freshen up. Close up behind Lohn Ranger two back before a strong win two weeks ago on the Parks track under a smart ride from Vorster, who found the best ground out wide and was too strong. Hard to beat if he can hold his form.

1 Magic Phantom (Bet Now: $4.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday on the Parks track. He got a fair way back in the run but liked the way the finished his race off behind impressive winner Howl. Gets in well after the claim and should lob into a lovely spot from the draw.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 6 Melody Man

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 1 Karacasu

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 14 Pimm’s Party
