18/12/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sunshine Coast

A nine race program has been assembled for the Sunny Coast this Friday night. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Think 4 Le Heros (Bet Now: $3.90) is the best horse in the race and back on his home track, want to give him another chance. Market said he had three legs when he resumed at the Gold Coast and ran accordingly in a disappointing resumption. Gets the Blinkers on and Ryan Maloney to steer, plus his form from last prep just reads so well for this.

6 Phantom Spirit (Bet Now: $3.80) is a fascinating runner here. Mick Mair trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since July 19 when a solid fourth here in a race which has produced six winners. Good trial winner here back on November 17 when pushed out in fast time, so will be interesting to see what the market does.

Market watch clearly here for 2 Incerto (Bet Now: $3.60). Son of Rich Enuff that is on debut and interesting that he hasn’t had a public trial to get ready, so a bit of guessing involved, but is in the right stable to be respected in a race like this, so I’d watch the market and see what it does with him.

Nothing wrong with the form of 2 You’ll Be Mist (Bet Now: $3.20). Has had three career outings and is a Saturday city winner at this track from two starts ago. Last start at Doomben did work out wide on speed and battled away well to run third. Proven race day performer and is bred to handle a wet track.

11 Lolanka (Bet Now: $3.70) has to be respected with the Gollan/Rodd factor. More Than Ready filly that is on debut off the back of a very sharp trial win at Doomben over 840m in good time as well. Has a wide gate to overcome but a wet Sunny Coast track usually means off the fence is the spot to be.

8 Win Burn (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Shooting To Win gelding for Stuart Kendrick that is on debut. He’s had a couple of trials to get ready for start one, the latest seeing him win at Doomben and he looked to go about his business quite well. First starter on his home track, has to be respected and watch for market moves.

Like 4 Rakkaus (Bet Now: $3.30) here. Daughter of Not A Single Doubt for Tony Gollan that is on debut and she is bred to swim so that’s why I’m leaning her way. Liked the recent trial at Doomben, which was run in fast time. Ryan Maloney steers, looks to have gate speed and finds a winnable maiden.

1 Country Showgirl (Bet Now: $3.90) is the class runner of the field and the clear pick of the raced brigade. Her form from being a juvenile just reads so well, including a placing behind Kisukano. No public trials to get ready, but finds a winnable maiden and stable gets Rodd to steer, so can see her being popular.

5 Roman Queen (Bet Now: $7.00) is a Holy Roman Emperor filly for the Darryl Hansen camp that is on debut. Hasn’t been seen at the trials, but does have some head gear to prepare for start one and stable gets Fradd to steer from a soft gate. Wouldn’t be surprised to see good support in betting for her.

Back in depth/grade plus a wet track, I’m pretty keen on 8 Hancora Field (Bet Now: $2.35) for Les Ross. Tested at Stakes level last start in the Mode Plate and was outclassed behind Isotope, but keep in mind she wasn’t given much hope being four wide no cover in the run. Much better placed here and think she’s clearly the one to beat.

6 Go Deep (Bet Now: $2.50) certainly has the engine under the hood to give this a shake. Three weeks between runs since racing at Doomben where he was near the speed throughout and battled away well when sixth to Gin ‘N’ Bitters, beaten 2.6L. Think his best chance of winning is if they jump and run. If that eventuates, he can win.

7 Walk The Talk (Bet Now: $6.00) has good stats on wet ground and I think is a threat here. Resumed over 1000m at Toowoomba when tucked in behind the speed and tried hard, but with the 63.5kg impost, and first up, he couldn’t sprint well enough and had to settle for third. Harder here, but in terms of the set up, it’s more appealing.

Tough race to sort out this. I’m going the way of 11 Broken Hero (Bet Now: $3.80). Drops a fair bit in grade/depth, having raced last start in the Winning Rupert at Doomben when outclassed behind Shooting For Gold. Went good in a fast run start prior at Rockhampton and has placed in his lone run on wet ground, so think he can bounce back.

12 Zoomfield (Bet Now: $6.50) gets his first look at 1000m so keen to see how he goes. Resumed in what looked a decent enough Class 1 over 800m at Ipswich and liked the way he found the line late after finding trouble early on in the race behind noted short course horse Kirra Lass. Like him up in trip and Fradd sticks.

5 Oddfellow (Bet Now: $34.00) is a son of Reliable Man that resumes for Paul Jenkins. This gelding hasn’t raced since May 1 over 1400m when down the track but was at the end of the prep and perhaps a tired horse. Resumes without a trial, but stable gets Shaun Cormack to steer and he does tend to race well on the fresh side.

8 St Just (Bet Now: $4.00) is getting close to D-Day. David Vandyke trained filly that has been solid enough this time in but now needs to put a win on the board after a couple of placings, the latest seeing her run third here to Thatfridayfeeling, who won last Saturday at the Gold Coast to frank the form further. Gets the claim for KWT, draws out, wet ground no issue…surely her race.

1 Monster Of Power (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Brian Smith trained gelding that looks a leading chance against these. Several weeks between runs since racing over 1800m here where he was in a good spot behind the speed it seemed and looked to travel well but couldn’t quite finish it off and tired late behind Silesian. Freshened, back to the mile, in a winnable race, hard to beat.

If it gets proper heavy, then I think you’d have to include 10 Classic Pearl (Bet Now: $23.00) in multiples. Rob Heathcoate trained mare who tends to save her best for tracks with genuine give in it. Resumed at Beaudesert and didn’t really fire a shot behind Hopeful Star. The wet track keeps her in the mix as a first four threat.

Bit to play out here with dual acceptors. As it stands at the time of writing, I’m with 2 All To Do (Bet Now: $1.95) despite no jockey being booked. Is accepted for Sunday, but has already been scratched from an earlier race here. He’s been most consistent this prep, the latest run being at this track/distance when a game and close up second to a talented type in Superare. Handles wet ground and don’t think this race is overly strong.

5 Mishani Destroyer (Bet Now: $5.50) can be a big improver here for Kelly Purdy. He was pretty ordinary fresh at ipswich behind Gunnobe, but Fradd said post race to Stewards that the horse hated the hot weather, so can see why they are running under the lights here and his form from last prep does read well for this.

1 Fast Train (Bet Now: $13.00) is a son of Bullet Train for Darryl Hansen that resumes. Hasn’t raced since August 1 when down the track over 1800m at Eagle Farm behind Dissolution in what looked an okay Saturday race. No trials to get ready, but doesn’t mind wet ground and gets in well after the claim for for Jaden Lloyd.

5 Strictly Physical (Bet Now: $6.50) has talent and can win this for sure. Had trialled up in good fashion prior to resuming here a few weeks back when wide no cover on speed and felt the pinch late. Think he will come on from that and the Super One breed generally love to get their toe in. Hard to beat.

13 Unlikelyoccurrence (Bet Now: $2.80) is a Stuart Kendrick trained daughter of Ferlax that is second up. Resumed over 1200m here where she was tardy away and then got checked, which meant she was back near last in the run and just forget she went around. Better than that and deserves another chance.

14 Prickly Tick (Bet Now: $26.00) can add value to multiples. Trevor Thomas trained six year old gelding that has only had six starts, so has clearly had his issues, but must be showing something at home to keep persisting. Resumed here and wasn’t too bad after covering ground. Gets the claim for KWT and draws out, which is a plus.

8 Sky One (Bet Now: $13.00) is another that doesn’t mind getting his toe in. He has contested some solid races his past two and been far from disgraced each time, the latest being here behind a proven Saturday class horse in So Dapper, who would be $1.50 against this lot. Three time winner on heavy ground and is 2/3 at the track/distance.

1 Fort Wayne (Bet Now: $1.95) does tend to save his best for his home track here at the Sunny Coast. Lovely ride from KWT saw him get the win narrowly but impressively over the mile here, edging clear over the final few strides to prove too good. Harder here and creeping up in the weights, but hard to knock the way he’s going.

Bit of a throw at the stumps in the get out in including 3 Brocson (Bet Now: $6.50). He’s nine years of age but I reckon can run a cheeky race against these. Ran over the mile here last time out where he was just off the speed and had his chance, but wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Fort Wayne. Gets a 3kg weight pull on that horse here and he loves to get his toe in. Happy to speck at odds if he’s indeed double figures.
